Day 1 - Chest, Tri's Day 2 - Back, Bi's Day 3 - Shoulders Day 4 - Legs Day 5 - nothing Repeat My question is, do I need to to work those muscles more often than once every 4 days, or is that fine? If anyone wants to post their routine, that'd be cool. Thanks Broly Crew

Ok so as most of you know I got a bad case of colitis in late December, got out of the hospital on January 7th and didn't touch a weight for 8 weeks after that. Now I am going to show you my progress since I started lifting and bulking hardcore. Ok I went from a lean 215 to an abysmal 180 back to 215 but not as good looking Well I plan to keep on eating everything in sight through summer (fuck a beach body this year) and hopefully hit 240 or 250 fairly soon before I cut again (may run Superdrol soon). I have been doing DeFranco's "Westside for Skinny Bastards" routine the whole time and have liked it but have thought about switching over to a CP plan for bodybuilders. If I were to do something like that, what exercises would you recommend and what type of split? I'm pretty new to CP but apparently it's the best thing since dbawlz so I want to try it out. I also would like to hit the gym more than 3 times a week, if possible because I feel like my body responds better than if I were only going 3 days or so. So what do you guys think? Sorry for being such a skinny bitch

just be careful with the bulking, hubby had colitis last year and he is really sensitive to certain foods now. He's never been the same. edit: looks like you're doing great though

Damn, what a way to pull it back up. That's shitty about the illness dude but the fact you've managed to come out of it and still find time to pull back your training is amazing. I'd have a hard time knocking that progress, congratz

Yeah all my muscle was killed off before the prednisone.

PcH How can you gain and lose weight so quickly?! You were so cut before.. Welp a week of laying in a hospital bed and throwing up everything I ate tends to make muscle disappear apparently.

Monday: chest, abs & tri dumbbells - 4 x 8 incline dumbbells - 3 x 8 decline on cable machines - 3 x 8 fly machine - 3 x 8 burnout bench - 1 x 21 various abs (depending on day) skull crusher (lying) w/ bench bar - 3 x 8 one-handed pulldowns on cable stack - 3 x 8 overhead rope pulls on cable stack - 3 x 8 dips - 2 x ? (usually about 25 - 30 first set, 20 - 25 second set) Tuesday: back & biceps pulldowns - 4 x 8 seated row machine (don't know what it is called) - 3 x 8 dumbbell rows - 3 x 8 lower back machine - 3 x 8 pullups - 2 x ? (usually 10 first set, 6-8 second) traps - 4 x 8 bench bar curls - pyramid sets (1 x 12, 1 x 10, 1 x 8, 1 x 10, 1 x 12) seated incline curls - 3 x 8 concentration curls - 3 x 8 hammer curls - 3 x 8 (immediately following each set, lighter dumbbells ~20lbs used for making circular motions) Wednesday: shoulders, abs & tri military press - 4 x 8 lateral raises - 3 x 8 front raises - 3 x 8 reverse fly? seems to be overtraining to me..dunno..

I am just glancing at it and I will give my .02 later. But you have way to many sets to per day to be working a group twice a week and you need to vary your rep scheme.

You need to give your muscles more time to rest. You're overtraining and probably working against yourself. Take it back a notch and work each muscle group once a week. You shouldn't be at the gym working out every day.

Yeah first thing that popped into my head was overtraining. What are your goals? What's your diet like?

Thanks for the input guys - I was beginning to suspect that I was overtraining some. My goals at first were the typical: get my bench to 300, and look good. Got to 300 a couple of weeks ago, and I look good, but after that my goals changed to being more fit, so I think that I am going to take up swimming 2x/wk and drop off to working each group 1x/wk...my diet is, at best guess ~4000 cal/day; I have a super high metabolism, and I know that this is not really high if I want to be bulking, but I don't really want to bulk too much; I am tall and lean, and I want to stay that way, but muscular...any more help? Thanks guys. E

It's only about 24-6 sets a day... hardly overtaining it seems. I posted a routine where it was 20 sets of mostly 10s and no one thought that was even close to overtaining. If you are worried about overtraining though just knock off a lift a day.

I want to be able to do the splits. how is this acheived. just through constant practice of stretching the splits position or what? also ive heard that stretching for 1 minute achomplishes no more than 30 seconds of stretching. so how often should i strech, practice, etc to achieve this the quickest ;x man, this sounds really gay.... but im serious.

I usually stretch a muscle for 30 seconds. And in the same sense that you get big numbers in the squat by doing squats, you will best train for doing the splits by practicing them and stretching by attempting to do them. I would stretch twice a day except on leg days and then only do it after your workout.

I used to be able to do the splits. I took karate when I was 8-12 or so and I was so damn flexible. Now I'm just sort of flexible. I don't think I'll ever be able to do the splits again no matter how much I stretch, though.

In high school I was in dance and we had a 30 min stretch warm up everyday. It was awesome. I learned soo many stretches and was really flexible yet I couldn't do the splits. Finally after two weeks of trying anf trying and trying (litterally about a hundred times a day) I finally did them. I was exstatic. Lol.

i wanted to try the splits so i started stretching everyday and kept trying. then one day i was attempting the splits took it a lil to far and felt something like a small tear in my muscle which didnt heal for like 3 weeks... i could feel it everytime i walked, i couldnt run. moral of the story.. dont go overboard on the stretches, it will take time. dont expect quick results.

i doubt that my hip will ever allow me to do the splits again, but I'm still rather flexible so i dont care.
