is rollerblading beneficial at all?

is rollerblading beneficial at all?

well? whats it doing for me...any toning or fat burning?

Any physical activity is better than none Reults depend on if you are trying to speed skate around an ovel for 4 hours or just lazily douching around the park.

rollerblading is a hell of a workout

joy division Any physical activity is better than none Reults depend on if you are trying to speed skate around an ovel for 4 hours or just lazily douching around the park. about an hour of cruising around neighborhoods..going up some hills...going fast....very little lazy douching though

superbri007 no, but I heard that lollarblading is really good

yeees, it gives you nice tone man-glutes

will it burn any body fat, or do any overall toning? or just legs pretty much

it won't burn anything. it'll just give you an onion booty. no but seriously, if you do it with enough intensity, it could be a good cardio activity thats easy on the knees compared to jogging.

Rollerblading is horrible

great workout!

if you have to ask, then no

jackjohnson if you have to ask, then no well its definetely " a workout" since i sweat hard and can run out of breath when im skating hard. jw what it actually does for you....like if it tones or burns any fat.

could be decent cardio.. it all depends on your intensity

I used to be an agro skater. Id skate every day for 6 hours or so in the summer. My legs and abs were crazy Though I doubt youll be jumping onto any rails or crazy business like that.

Do you have to say TONE in every god damn post. NO, it will not TONE your muscle. You will lose weight, uncovering what muscle you may have underneth -- giving the appearence of TONAGE (lol?). It is good cardio though (good on the knees), depending on your entensity.

just go to a damn gym

sr20wop just go to a damn gym I can't stand doing cardio in a gym so I normally rollerblade 2-3 times per week during the summer. Yes it is one hell of a workout if you make it. Actually a girl I work with use to speedskate and her and I would go every weekend and not quit till someone gave up. Some days we would end up doing 20+ miles. If you really want some fun basically skate upright for a couple of minutes and then crouch and try and get as far of a kick as possible for a minute or so and as hard as you can. If you have a friend who bikes try and draft them. Did that with a buddy of mine who raced and I could barely breath after a couple of miles. What muscles you work depend on your stance very similiar to an efx machine. If you are low you are going to notice it more in the whole leg if you are upright more in the middle of your legs.

iwishiwascool I used to be an agro skater. Id skate every day for 6 hours or so in the summer. My legs and abs were crazy Though I doubt youll be jumping onto any rails or crazy business like that. Use to aggressive to and it was amazing how much you really had to stay constrictinged and were squeezing your abs. Especially on rail grinds.

Inline skating is my favorite cardio exercise. What muscles you work and how much you work them depends much on what kind of stance you use when skating and the intensity you skate at. Using proper speed skating form will work pretty much everything in your lower body and back. If you have paved recreation trails that you can just zone out in your skating form, that will be the best. What kind of skates are you using?

I used to go through 2 pairs per season. The set that I ended with were the Razor Cults. They were nice.

I started rollerblading 12 years ago it was a b-day present from my parents since I wanted something else to supplment my cycling. I basically have sticked with rollerblade brand the whole way. Right now I am on the Rollerblade Aero 2 got an awesome deal on them at a local sporting store that stopped carrying the rollerblade brand. The only problem I have is the boot is uncomfortable and almost makes my foot go numb but after a couple of miles almost like it breaks in and I don't have a problem. I use to have K2 and that was a nice boot. If I could take the Aero 2 skate and add the K2 boot it would have been perfect. What you got?

iwishiwascool I used to go through 2 pairs per season. The set that I ended with were the Razor Cults. They were nice. Even when i was doing agressive I used rollerblade old school with the hard plastic boot. First skate I ever owned. Had a couple sets of wheels and bearing that I would switch depending if I was doing x-training, aggressive, or even playing hockey. God I miss that skate but man it would get hot. Ton of armor on it. Tore through grindplates like it was nothing.

jshively What you got? I have the Rollerblade Lightning 09 2004 model, had them for about a year. They're a five-wheel skate, built for fitness/speed. The boot is amazing, and even after a long (15-20 mile) skate, I hardly feel like I had them on. The only downside to having skates with such a long frame is that you can't do too many 'fun' things, other than going 25-30mph. They just aren't that agile. Plus, you have to pay to play: when my bearings wore out, it cost over $100 to replace them.

You guys are making me miss rollerblading, about 10 years ago I skated just about everywhere

I would like some advice.

Alright, Im 5'7 , 180 pounds, and im 19. Im in horrible shape right now, andI 'm looking to lose weight, and gain strength, but i need some help. What are the best foods to include in a diet? How many calories should i take in a day? Any major tips? My excercise is basically going to be a lot of lifting, and a lot of biking. My diets the biggest part that needs help though, Im a very picky eater, and i've been living off macaroni and cheese lately. Thanks!

So you have just woken up, and you NEED to hit the gym right now, since it closes in two hours. You havn't eaten or drank anything since waking up. Do you go to the gym on an empty stomach? or eat some fruit? or some bread? or some protein?

rye bread & raspberry jam & down 30g of liquid protein or so.

dextrose + sucrose + free-form AA's (or whey)

if you are trying to lose weight/fat, then just go.. but make sure you drink water! but if you are trying to bulk up or maintain, then i would drink some protien drink, or eat a fruit..

ANIMALPAK VITAMINS. Thats all you need.

Get some carbs and some protein.

Ceaze dextrose + sucrose + free-form AA's (or whey)

what are you trying to do at the gym? heavy lifting, cardio(for how long), or yoga(empty stomach for sure),.. depends what you are gonna do.

devilangel if you are trying to lose weight/fat, then just go.. but make sure you drink water! but if you are trying to bulk up or maintain, then i would drink some protien drink, or eat a fruit..

tize go back to your myspace forums, did acura give you this address??? im a legit member here. and myspace forum sucks my ass!

tize <3 you mackin on me? hahhaha

prolly a weight gain shake 600 calories + 52 g protien + 15 ounces of water= win

Fast food diet?

Fast food diet?

I usually eat 1-2 meals per day and usually unhealthy(burgers etc). What are some ok places for a picky eater to try and change up my mentality.

The grocery store. 'Nuff Said.

Honestly, if you want a healthy place to eat and you're picky (I'm assuming you're wanting to lose weight) you have no other choice than to make a life change and start learning how to cook and eat healthy.

subway?

walmart, they sell a good size rotisseri wow i suck at spelling chicken for $3.99

subway, jambajuice

Subway is terrible. Whats up 3,500mg of sodium per sub.

Phlab Subway is terrible. Whats up 3,500mg of sodium per sub. that's what deli meat does for you

salt isnt bad for you, never has been, i eat so much god damn salt its insane, i have my whole life, i love it and its never hurt me.

christophers whats wrong with some sodium, its actually beneficial to athletes/bb'rs pre contest diet guru scot abel suggested 2g per liter of water consumed daily it strongly varies by person. If you were to eat a couple of those subs a day that would add up quick, + all the sodium from the other BS. Not everyone on here the lifts is an athlete. Some might lift and sit in a office all day, therefore not needing the surplus of sodium

ryazbeck salt isnt bad for you, never has been, i eat so much god damn salt its insane, i have my whole life, i love it and its never hurt me. victim #1 of hypertension

I know there are benefits of it, I've always put around 500mg in my PWO shake.. but too much, like anything - is not a good thing

I'd love to know how it doesn't create hypertension, because there are many studies out there that would definately say otherwise

looking.......!

I don't have any reputable places to search. I searched yahoo for some links, there's tons of newspaper articles and shit, but no studies to back it. For the average person though, that much sodium is entirely too much. Maybe just because I'm a little bias because hypertension is quite common in my family.. I'm actually borderline to hypertension, 135-140 depending on the day and my sodium intake is fairly low

so basically it's saying if you're active consume lots of salt. If you're not, then don't

here is my bacon cheese burger body Ive been eating like crap for years, somehow my cholesterol was ok @ last check, but when Im not flexing after a full meal, the 8 pack is fading away

basically acclude, what you need to do is stop being lazy, go to the grocery store, buy tons of healthy food, and buy some of those cheap tupperware to take along and make meals, lots of them at night and bring food with you in a plastic sack. i do it everyday as well as many people on this board do.

The Acclude here is my bacon cheese burger body Ive been eating like crap for years, somehow my cholesterol was ok @ last check, but when Im not flexing after a full meal, the 8 pack is fading away 8 Pack? At most I can see a 2 Pack with two 1/2 packs... You need to bulk, just healthier.

Idyfohu 8 Pack? At most I can see a 2 Pack with two 1/2 packs... You need to bulk, just healthier. used to be

ha, i love how everyone is convinced salt will kill you. i've always been active. honestly the only problem salt has ever given me is a little diarrhea. thats because your kidneys flushes that shit right out.

The Acclude I usually eat 1-2 meals per day and usually unhealthy(burgers etc). What are some ok places for a picky eater to try and change up my mentality. i like McD's salads and yogurt parfaits

ryazbeck ha, i love how everyone is convinced salt will kill you. i've always been active. honestly the only problem salt has ever given me is a little diarrhea. thats because your kidneys flushes that shit right out. i dont like salt because it makes me retain water.

Idyfohu Honestly, if you want a healthy place to eat and you're picky (I'm assuming you're wanting to lose weight) you have no other choice than to make a life change and start learning how to cook and eat healthy. This is true. I bring a cooler to work with me every day with my food..you simply do better if you know exactly what's in your lunch.

subway is about the best of the bunch. i get a footlong turkey (double meat usually) on wheat and make 2 meals out of it. togos tuna sammich is also good

Cyclic diet question...

Cyclic diet question...

Is a cyclic diet pointless if you're not going to do "depletion" workouts and all that shit? My fat losss is stalling out so I need to change something up, but I'm happy with my lifting routine (more/less westside) as it is and would rather not fuck with it. From what I understand the whole goal of the cyclic diets is to amplify positive hormonal responses to food... so that even though you may be in a glycogen depleted, caloric deficit most of the time, the relatively brief windows when you are in a replenished, caloric surplus is sufficient to product the hormonal responses necessary to keep your metabolism chugging along... or am I missing the concept completely? Why can't you just manipulate the system through calorie intake and macro ratios? Why all the special workouts and shit? Is it oversimplifying it to just do a repetitive cycle of 2-3 no/low carb days followed by a high carb day? Any links to good cyclic plans that don't require special workouts? I've read a lot of stuff at bodyrecomposition.com since that seems to be the defacto reference for fat loss around here, but it seems most of the people there are doing the depletion workouts and cardio schedules.

Right...but what is the percieved positive benefit of the changes that make up the cycle, be it changing macros, total calories, whatever? I thought it was becuase the cyclic nature of it helped avoid the metabolism slump caused by extended periods of caloric deficit. Is that wrong?

Hmm... shit. Thanks for your help.

the positive benefit as i understand it from cycling is to avoid homeostasis (the survival mechanism). basically the body gets used to the changes and down-regulates any over-expressed enzymes it doesn't need. anytime that enzymes are downregulated due to a perceived surplus, your body is going to be in a catabolic state. that's the point of both carb and protein cycling - in carb cycling, your body figures out either that it's not getting carbs and stops producing so much amylase and in protein cycling, the body stops producing so much protease. if you keep eating a lot of carbs or protein when there are less enzymes to process the substrate, it just takes longer to process (which the body sees as an energy savings). if you vary your amounts of carbs and protein, the body never gets to set a point of energy savings since it cannot predict how much will come at once.

the depletion workouts are simply to lower glycogen levels (and keep them low) since that will be burned before any stored fat and the UD2 is for athletes looking to lose weight (and maybe add lbm) you need stored glycogen to be low to get the glucagon response and insulin is mutually exclusive so if there is sugar, you cannot activate the enzymes to burn fat

this is the point of bulking or cutting, because the success of one is the failure of the other due to the hormonal responses and enzymes involved

I want to start the atkins diet, but I only know the basics, like no bread. Are slim jims accetable?

OverLamer calories out > calories in

If you really want to do Atkins proper, go buy the book. I would suggest looking more into a standard "good" nutritional base and exercise first though.

kingmagus I want to start the atkins diet, but I only know the basics, like no bread. Are slim jims accetable? Atkins is the stupidest diet ever the body needs carbs

Why don't you actually do a little research on a diet before you start it?

PorscheRacer Atkins is the stupidest diet ever the body needs carbs Technically the body does need carbs but it doesn't need dietary carbs, it is capable of creating enough glucose on it's own to supply the parts that need it from other substances.

Don't go on the atkins diet. There is no magical way to lose weight quickly. Do cardio every single day. Lift weights every single day, and just watch what you eat.

PorscheRacer Atkins is the stupidest diet ever the body needs carbs Actually, it doesn't.

Your body just runs better with carbs. If you want to feel shitty, go right ahead. But don't come crawling back when you pass out and hit your head on the sidewalk. Oh, yeah, and once your off the diet -- the weight usually comes back.

brolli Don't go on the atkins diet. There is no magical way to lose weight quickly. Do cardio every single day. Lift weights every single day, and just watch what you eat.

brolli Don't go on the atkins diet. There is no magical way to lose weight quickly. Do cardio every single day. Lift weights every single day, and just watch what you eat. i tried atkins for a couple weeks and lost a measly 4 pounds. Then i just went on a low calorie diet and added cardio to my workout (as opposed to just lifting) and in a little more than a month ive lost nearly 20 pounds And that was with a couple days off that set my diet back like 4 days basically all im doing is eating a sald for one meal and just a normal sized meal for the other. no snacks, only diet sodas. ive also started to get meal bars which help (in replacement for a meal, not as a snack fatty)

timberwolf I actually did once have one. I used to eat sushi like every other day. Any weird symptoms? Some of my friends can't believe that I spend over $120 every couple of months or so when my wife and I have sushi, but I think it's very important to ensure the fish is fresh, high quality, and a proper sashimi cut. The taste is a world of difference too.

The taste is a world of difference too. Not really. No symptoms I was aware off. They passed a new law in Canada recently that prohibits fresh fish being used... it has to have been frozen for at least 2 weeks I believe.

Back in the day when I had stomach problems that prevented eating for certain periods of time I used to tell people that "something was eating my tapeworm."

Tapeworm is acting up

Anyone interested in me posting this article? I know DNP has been discussed here in the past. If there's interest, I'll post it when this month's JEMS shows up. That is, if no one chiefs it from my mailbox.

Sure, post it, but I think everyone here knows that DNP is the stupidest thing anyone could take. The risks far outweigh the rewards.

post it up, i know its crazy shit ut i always enjoy reading and learning more about al drugs/chemicals etc

ill take 400mgs with a dash of caffiene plz!

I've read about a lot of people over on AM who take it and don't have any trouble. That being said, I wouldn't touch that shit with an 11ty billion foot pole.

i want the article.

btw.. has anyone here actually used this stuff before? im not wondering for personal use... but drugs/chemicals fascinate me and i woudl like to learn more

That being said, I wouldn't touch that shit with an 11ty billion foot pole. you'll find most of those people on am are like pokesteve, clueless and wanting quick results. (I said most, there are a few exceptions, but most are fucking retards)

DNP is an uncoupling protein that dissipates the proton gradient generated by your cells. thus all that ATP that would have been made through ATP synthetase is wasted as heat.

n00b needs advice on supplements

Alright, I'm trying to get in shape for the summer; loose fat primarily, since i want to get 'toned' more then I want to gain large muscle mass. Right now I do lifting 3 times a week and cardio 4 times a week. I'm pretty okay with that, but was asking for advice on supplements. (Also, I am taking a complete multivitamin) Here is what I'm thinking about getting... LIPO-6 (750mg) x 6 daily Flax Oil (1000mg) x 9 daily Fish Oil (1000mg) x 20-30 daily Amino 2222 ??mg x ??? daily For the Amino2222, it isn't clear how often I should be taking that, but I'm sure the bottle will specify. Is this too much, not enough, enough but of the wrong stuff?

wow, thats an awesome amount of fish oil.

Ab help w/newcomer

Ab help w/newcomer

Ive just recently started lifting and brought back my running routine (going on 3 weeks of progress now). I was dormant from the health/fitness routine for about 2 years. Im naturally predisposed to being an athletically built guy, but it seems that even though im down to 166lbs, I cant get my abs back into the shape they once were. Here is a pic of what they look like now. They can be more defined if I flex, but in thier natural state they seem a bit flabby. Im eating about 3k cal per day, working out mildly and downing about 150g of protein. Im not looking to gain alot of muscle mass, but some gains are good. I havent been cutting at all. Is there a good way to get larger abs instead of just losing the weight around them to show them more? On to the pics number 1 show the place that has some def. and good strength (natrual state in pics) Number 2 show area that is flabby and soft. No matter how much I run or how many forms of situps I do, I cant get muscel to form there. Any thoughts?

your abs ahve fat over them, you want em to be more "defined" you are going to have to loose weight, wich is not gonna happen on 3k cals a day.

No need to get hostile. Im already getting everything else pretty much right in that guide (sans a few grams of protein)

Just wanted some advice, not someone telling me that its not working. I have a hard time beleiving things that I read on the net and just wanted some informed suggestions.

vettedude is pretty much right. the bottom line here is nothing about your abs, its about the layer of fat over them. now what you knwo you need to do is lose fat, and if you look on the main page it says "Sticky: want to lose fat? L I F T W E I G H T S" and "Sticky: Basic Newb Guide to Fat Loss" so obviously thats where you'd look. if you actually read it you'd know it has everything you need to know and you wouldnt be making this thread

No need to get hostile. Im already getting everything else pretty much right in that guide (sans a few grams of protein) well think about that for a second. does it make sense that a flat amount of 3000 calories would be some kind of special fat-loss limit for any active guy? Why would the numbers be the same for someone who is 150lbs vs someone who is 250? Your calorie requirements are based on your size, and then fine-tuned based on your genetics. So you start at 11-12x bodyweight, track your results, and adjust up or down from there.

Chris3G well think about that for a second. does it make sense that a flat amount of 3000 calories would be some kind of special fat-loss limit for any active guy? Why would the numbers be the same for someone who is 150lbs vs someone who is 250? Your calorie requirements are based on your size, and then fine-tuned based on your genetics. So you start at 11-12x bodyweight, track your results, and adjust up or down from there. THAT is the kind of answer that makes sense to me. I have no nutritional background, so the things that are painfully obvious to everyone here dont even occur to me. Thank you very much for helping me see. Im going to start on a 1,900 cal/day diet and continue my current "mild" routine.

you could crank up that "mild" routine to "vigorous" and burn more calories!

ryazbeck you could crank up that "mild" routine to "vigorous" and burn more calories! I may do that, but right now im audtioning for a part that requires me to not be overtly athletic looking. I don't want to endanger my chances of landing a part if I can help it.

metabolism question

metabolism question

when you change your diet (amount of food you intake basically), how long does it take your metabolism to adjust? ie. get used to the new amount of food intake and disappear that hungry feeling, because i used to overeat, and now that i've lowered it to the amount i should be eating i get hungry

How many calories are you getting a day and what's your bodyweight

about 2300 and i'm 180lbs

learn to like feeling hungry. when i wanted to lose weight i dropped my cals to prolly 1500 or lower a day (too low). i was always hungry and i just liked it. i didnt really know what i was doing, but i lost 30lbs in a 3-4 months.

i dont know too much, but i know enough to know thats not a good method. you must've lost a lot of muscle i started dropping my cals gradually and coupled it with excersise (a bit of cardio and weights). i've got some upper body fat i wanna get rid of (see: man tits)

ChillerTwist i dont know too much, but i know enough to know thats not a good method. you must've lost a lot of muscle i started dropping my cals gradually and coupled it with excersise (a bit of cardio and weights). i've got some upper body fat i wanna get rid of (see: man tits) 30lbs in 3-4 months is pretty normal actually

try some hoodia (http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=1666) or nicotine (gum or patches). If you want major appetite suppression then get ahold of some bromocriptine.

nathanbx 30lbs in 3-4 months is pretty normal actually I have lost 20 in two with minimal muscle loss.

BTW, you just have to wait for your stomach to shrink. Your metabolism doesn't have as much to do with the hungry feeling as the stretch receptors in your stomach. You will get used to it. It is weird, when I cut and I eat I feel fat, when I bulk and I don't eat I feel skinny.

Ceaze try some hoodia (http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=1666) or nicotine (gum or patches). If you want major appetite suppression then get ahold of some bromocriptine. yeah hoodia works really good as long as you take it with a full glass of water

awesome! thanks for all the replies guys, they've been very helpful. i will look into those products if it becomes unbearable, but i'd rather let nature take its course

OK F&N, Here has been my journey since December.

OK F&N, Here has been my journey since December.

Ok so as most of you know I got a bad case of colitis in late December, got out of the hospital on January 7th and didn't touch a weight for 8 weeks after that. Now I am going to show you my progress since I started lifting and bulking hardcore. Ok I went from a lean 215 to an abysmal 180 back to 215 but not as good looking Well I plan to keep on eating everything in sight through summer (fuck a beach body this year) and hopefully hit 240 or 250 fairly soon before I cut again (may run Superdrol soon). I have been doing DeFranco's "Westside for Skinny Bastards" routine the whole time and have liked it but have thought about switching over to a CP plan for bodybuilders. If I were to do something like that, what exercises would you recommend and what type of split? I'm pretty new to CP but apparently it's the best thing since dbawlz so I want to try it out. I also would like to hit the gym more than 3 times a week, if possible because I feel like my body responds better than if I were only going 3 days or so. So what do you guys think? Sorry for being such a skinny bitch

if you can make it to 250 before you cut, i give you lots of respect.

That sucks about your colitis, I'm with ya on bulking through summer broly.

damn that sucks. good work though

you're back at 215 already? nice work bro, it'll all come back in time

just be careful with the bulking, hubby had colitis last year and he is really sensitive to certain foods now. He's never been the same. edit: looks like you're doing great though

Damn, what a way to pull it back up. That's shitty about the illness dude but the fact you've managed to come out of it and still find time to pull back your training is amazing. I'd have a hard time knocking that progress, congratz

DCCapen I have never seen muscle loss like that before, thats amazing. But hey, congrats on the bluking Yeah I was mentally devastated afterwards seeing that I had lost like 35 pounds of almost pure muscle. Getting back though

GilgaMesH Yeah I was mentally devastated afterwards seeing that I had lost like 35 pounds of almost pure muscle. Getting back though how long did it take you to gain it all back? or was it 8 weeks to goto the 180 to 215?

SteveO how long did it take you to gain it all back? or was it 8 weeks to goto the 180 to 215? It's been about 6 weeks, I believe.

Are/were you on any medications like prednisone for your colitis?

therealdeal Are/were you on any medications like prednisone for your colitis? I was on prednisone for like 2 weeks and now I'm on colozal.

GilgaMesH I was on prednisone for like 2 weeks and now I'm on colozal. fuck prednisone

Sgt. Ownage fuck prednisone agreed. Wasn't a huge fan

GilgaMesH agreed. Wasn't a huge fan killed my apetite/upset my stomach

Sgt. Ownage killed my apetite/upset my stomach It increased my appetite but I just felt shitty once I tapered down.

Sgt. Ownage killed my apetite/upset my stomach wierd, the typical side effect is to drastically increase appetite.

therealdeal wierd, the typical side effect is to drastically increase appetite. Yeah it really helped my bulking I'm getting fucking fat though and it's pissing me off.

GilgaMesH Yeah it really helped my bulking I'm getting fucking fat though and it's pissing me off. Ya, unfortunately it makes you gain fat and it kills off muscle. So you must have lost all your weight before you got on it eh?

Yeah all my muscle was killed off before the prednisone.

Sgt. Ownage fuck prednisone By the way, what did you take prednisone for?

GilgaMesH By the way, what did you take prednisone for? massive allergic reaction/hive breakout...which still plagues me to this day and the cause is unknown

Sgt. Ownage massive allergic reaction/hive breakout...which still plagues me to this day and the cause is unknown Yeah getting someone , doctor's not knowing the cause or whether or not it's going to be persistent is pretty frustrating

GilgaMesH Yeah getting someone , doctor's not knowing the cause or whether or not it's going to be persistent is pretty frustrating this was honestly my allergist's response 'welll uhhh...you didnt test positive for any allergies...........so it's a..............virus....yeah......if you break out for 6 more months see me'

PcH How can you gain and lose weight so quickly?! You were so cut before.. Welp a week of laying in a hospital bed and throwing up everything I ate tends to make muscle disappear apparently.

Im so friggin tired of eating chicken and tuna

Im so friggin tired of eating chicken and tuna

Been dieting/cutting since january 5th. Im so tired of chicken breast/tuna/ and salmon

Eating steak wont kill you, there are many alternatives that you might consider a "cheat" that could bust your morale and are quite tasty.

eat beef

as long as you are below your maintenance calories, i thought it really didn't matter what you ate?? This is what I hear/read on here.

DCyamaha as long as you are below your maintenance calories, i thought it really didn't matter what you ate?? This is what I hear/read on here. indeed

Learn to cook it in differen ways to spics up your love life

turkey burgers are ok, i cant stand them for more than a week. But after eating turkey burgers you will miss your chicken and fish

i had a sirloin steak last night with a salad.

have you had a break from your cutting routine? If not, take one.

steak never gets old. Steak smothered in A1, baked potato creamed in ranch and garlic, and a couple tbsp of flax oil to top it all off

pokesteve yeah, thats a great way to lose WEIGHT not fat

reminds me last year I looked at all the chicken I was eating and and got disgusted. I am slowly building myself up to eat it all the time again.

I still like chicken and tuna, but I'm starting to get sick of mac and cheese and eggs every day.

mac and cheese?

pokesteve you laugh, but eat 1500 calories of ice cream a day and nothing else, you will sure lose alot of WEIGHT alright.... not so much of it will be fat You could as long as you took another 700 calories or so and filled them with protein and essential fats

aw man i can each chicken 6 times a day, ill never get tired of it

eat eggs, u can cook them a million different ways

SteveO steak never gets old. Steak smothered in A1, baked potato creamed in ranch and garlic, and a couple tbsp of flax oil to top it all off christ that sounds perfect right about now

Try venison or buffalo.

tize eggs are awesome omgajsmgomsomgmosgmosmgomsgm i always eat my eggs with 1/2lb burger i thought i was the only one who did that lately i've been putting a couple eggs on top of everything i eat.

My cheat-meal last night...

So ive been craving a cheat meal for a while, and i finally broke down last night at like 11pm, i headed out to Taco Bell to stuff my face, heres what i ate: 1 Mexican Pizza 1 7-Layer Burrito 1 Double Decker Taco Totals:Calories:1420 Total Fat:67g Sodium:3190mg Carbs:152 Protein:54g ...you should of seen the shit i took this morning

I hate 3 cookies last night.

no pics of huge shit = thread failure

i'm on break this week so my diet went to shit a couple nights.. got crunk 2 nights in a row and just ate shit while i was drunk. i'm back on track now though

jonno no pics of huge shit = thread failure it was actualy 2 shits, i shat once right when i woke up, then after breakfast i felt the urge to shat again

Nice sodium.

I felt like such a bitch yesturday, I had a wendys classic triple and after I ate it my stomach didnt feel so good from the grease

wtf i hate it when ppl say "cheat meal". Just eat well and lift hard. how hard is t hat.

brolli wtf i hate it when ppl say "cheat meal". Just eat well and lift hard. how hard is t hat. Because on many regimens a cheat or a free meal is figured in Helps psychologically and physiologically.

psychologically, cheat meals help me tons. call me a b*tch, but i enjoy having a meal or two during the week where i eat something i normally wouldn't while cutting. i don't care if i dont lose another .25 lb that week that i could've. i'm still losing fat, holding onto muscle, and i'm having a great time doing it. i don't compete and i'm just doing it for myself so i have no deadline to lose weight by. i'm not gonna be a pussy and never enjoy some of the fine things of life, like delicious foods. =D and chiggin' wings are dam good.

brolli wtf i hate it when ppl say "cheat meal". Just eat well and lift hard. how hard is t hat. woah there big guy, i dont think anyone here is at your level yet.

argh! past few days i've been cheating bad!

my cheat meal last night was a pitcher of miller light and a chicken quesadilla from taco bell.

fuck, taco bell is sooooooo good

I went to a buffet. I ate 4 plates of chicken curry, 3 plates of salad piling up (used a normal plate and not a salad plate. ) and 3 bowls of soup. Japanese people made remarks. teehee.

hating places like taco bell and mcd's makes it a lot easier on me to stay on track.

i'd definitely say that of the fast food chains, taco bell is the hardest to resist especially at like 2am on a saturday night, shit tastes like gold

White Castle is good too at 2 AM.

If I go to Taco Bell, I get at least 2 1/2 lb bean burritos and 2 grande soft tacos. 2100 calories 84 fat grams 252 carbs 80 protein

i think ill have a cheat meal tonight

F&N for women in a nutshell

F&N for women in a nutshell

when i was reading this....it pretty muched sumed up what i've learned on this forum so far. http://www.beyondmuscle.com/weightloss-1.html

good read

mtnbike4522 good read are you female?

No. But its nice to be informed when females come asking about fitness tips

u forgot to mention that it's essential to post pics so we can give personally tailored advice

KetchupKing u forgot to mention that it's essential to post pics so we can give personally tailored advice i'll edit that...if you look good..post your pic. if your a 300 , 80 yr old woman with tits down to your knees and are wanting to lose weight because youve dont nothing but eat fast food..then please dont

Heh Nic's post reminded me of a joke. An 80 year old woman after loseing her husband decides to end her own life. After much thought she decided shooting herself in the heart would be the most clean and least painful. The woman got her husbands gun and ready to do the deed realizes she needs to know the exact location of her heart so as not to inflict more pain then necissary. The woman places a call to her doctor and asks him where her heart would be located. He asks why she needs to know and she tells him its for her nephews science project. The doctor tells her it is pretty close to 1 inch below your left nipple. The woman thanks the doctor and hangs up the phone. The doctor sees the old woman in the hospital the next day and inquires as to why she was there. The little old lady in a rather bitter mood states to the doctor " I shot myself in the knee. "

good read but i'm annoyed at the suppliment pushing that I tend to find at alot of "women friendly" forums. I intend on losing my fat and toning up without suppliments beyond your average every day vitamins. I had a doctor suggest Phen-fen back in the 90's and I was only 130. edit: and I find it amusing that they talk about testosterone in women. I think i have more than your average chick

nic379 i'll edit that...if you look good..post your pic. if your a 300 , 80 yr old woman with tits down to your knees and are wanting to lose weight because youve dont nothing but eat fast food..then please dont Actually there's a women at my gym who looks really good for 80. She must do 2-3 aerobic classes per day including the spinning class and must be at the gym 3-4 hours per day. Thing is I just recently found out she was only 69. Possibly from all the tanning her face looks like she's 80. In fact she used to workout when I got my first personal training job in 1991. She already looked this old.

You'd think I'd learn from that. I still go for fake and bake once in awhile though I usually put a towel over my face for half the session. Still, I rationalize that I'm already a little darker genetically so should take it better. Most though consider me really pale for a flip.

I had no idea you were a flip I thought you were aZn I'd actually like a little color to my skin and I can get a light tan...but my freckles get out of hand at that point and i get darker spots where they merge

nic379 i don tthink he was pushing supplements..just basically giving advice on them i didnt think they were pushing them so much as advising on which ones to take if someone was gonna... but a lot of sites make it sound as though you'll never reach your goals without them

nic379 i'm taking lipo 6 i know i'm just stubborn about them, I don't like to take suppliments to help me do what I can do on my own. Hell, I didn't even like getting pain meds while in labor

that's crazy. I must say that I'm a product of the generation that thinks everything should be easy and there should be a magic pill that will make me lose weight and gain muscle. I realized a year ago that this wasn't ever going to happen...so I finally joined a gym a couple months ago. Started really going a week ago. I use to work out all the time in HS because I was a cheerleader....so I know I can look good. I've just let myself go this last couple of years

christophers this is a pretty good article and its true. more owmen would get more out of reading the some stickies here and some other bb/performance forums than you will reading the vast majority of "female" forums i agree 100%. I'm just being pissy because some things will NEVER apply to me

Clothes worn during Weightlifting/Running or Jogging

Clothes worn during Weightlifting/Running or Jogging

anyone know if it's good better to workout in sweatpants and sweatshirts compared to say a wife beater (aka a-shirt) and shorts? you sweat more. your body temperature is higher so your muscles are warmer. does this help lose fat? or does it also help lose muscle? do you lose more calories this way? i imagine it would be better to wear warm clothes if your trying to lose weight, but how about if your just trying to tone your abs, and stay cut, but add muscle mass?

oh my. yeah the ONLY way to TONE your abs is to do around 500-890 crunches a day, otherwise you will just have a flabby tummy all the time. You can also spot reduce fat, like in your love handles, by using special massage oils. But be careful, if you eat too much protein your muscles will eat away and you will be left with nothing but bone and fat. Muscles can be eaten away and grown really easily but its really a fine line. watch out for that- check the noob sticky on how to turn FAT right into MUSCLE!

No, you don't lose more calories by bundling up or wearing anything to help you sweat more. All you're doing is sweating off water weight which will come RIGHT back and you risk dehydrating yourself or making yourself pass out or worse. The reason you DO see people doing this at all is they're wrestlers/boxers trying to make a weight cut; they sweat off a lot of weight very quickly, do their fight, and it comes right back the next day. They do this *hopefully* under supervision with their coaches though. Dress for the weather/gym..shorts, tshirt, pants and tshirt, whatever; clean up your diet and lift heavy.

Weeeeeeeeeeee

i've been told that spot reduction does not work. u cant lose weight or fat in one area of the body by targeting them. fat comes off evenly from all the fat stores in the body. 500-800 crunches seems excessive. i do about 50 ab rolls, 50 crunches, and 50 leg lifts (roman candles), a day. i hope this will work, do you other guys agree? along with running a mile or two a day. PS: im not fat or nearly overweight at all. im 5'11" and i weight 160lbs. i do have a 6 pac, but its not as defined as i want. and it only appears when i flex. otherwise its really faint. my top 4 pacs are alright, I need to shave that fat from the bottom two pacs located right below my belly button. anyone have suggestions.

scrawny guys who wear wife beaters in the gym make me sad actually, any guy that wears a wife beater out in public makes me sad....

props to fat people who are outside running/biking/etc to get into shape

props to fat people who are outside running/biking/etc to get into shape

seriously.....props to out of shape people who are outside running, biking, jogging, etc. i fucking hate when im with someone who crakcs a joke at them for being big or something.....i only do that kind of shit at mcdonalds when i see fat fucks hovering fries into their mouth....but not when i see people out trying hard to get into shape

those same people that are trying to get in shape are usually the people cramming their face with fries. Now the people that do have dedication and the will to lose it

tommyortom seriously.....props to out of shape people who are outside running, biking, jogging, etc. i fucking hate when im with someone who crakcs a joke at them for being big or something.....i only do that kind of shit at mcdonalds when i see fat fucks hovering fries into their mouth....but not when i see people out trying hard to get into shape I get pissed off at my friends at school who would joke at me eating salads or bringing in protein shakes for lunch, but after I started getting a lot of noticable gains, they would ask me to take them to the gym with me and shit. I'm like . I really wouldn't mind helping them out (I don't know much, but enough to get them started) except for now they'll try to eat healthy at lunch, then go home and smoke weed and eat fast food all day long, then tell me how much buffer they have gotten in the past week.

I give props to them initially, if I see them still doing it a month from now, more power to them. If I see them doing it still and they look about the same, then they're no better than the idiot cramming their face at mcdonalds.

Socrates I get pissed off at my friends at school who would joke at me eating salads or bringing in protein shakes for lunch, but after I started getting a lot of noticable gains, they would ask me to take them to the gym with me and shit. I'm like . That's like people at work, who find it unimaginable that I don't drink sugar beverages. They also wonder why I'm not fat. Uhhhh.....

D-GUy I give props to them initially, if I see them still doing it a month from now, more power to them. If I see them doing it still and they look about the same, then they're no better than the idiot cramming their face at mcdonalds. haha..theres this lady in my sub whos around 50 who isnt obese or anything..but could lose a good 30-40 pounds.....no joke....shes been doing a LIGHT walk around the neighborhood for the past 2-3 years....and i see no physical change in here at all!!!!!! maybe shes just doing it for cardio or to just get outside and look at the nature.....but she hasnt made any progress what so ever ahha

ya I have a lady running in my neighborhood I see every tuesday when I come home from the gym. She is in pretty decent shape and she stays that way. I wonder if others think in this way(noticing others changes and such). I know a bunch of people at the Y I go to probably notice.

I hate walking and running cause I know the shit people say about me when they drive by, but fuck em I figure it will all be worth it in the end.

i'm built and muscular, but i'm definitely chunky. and its not a good chunky like chunky beef stew. i'm a nice guy, and i'm friends with good people, who are usually really cool and what not. however, sometimes they'll throw fat jokes, and i'll laugh it off. but seriously, i dont like hearing them. for example, they'll see me eating a salad during school lunch. (i'm in highschool) "dude, why are you eating a salad...?!" "oh, i'm on a diet. i'm tryin to lose some weight." "HAHAAHA. YOU?! lose weight?! sorry man, but thats just too funny" "heh, yeah." or i'd be at a family gathering with all my relatives...and we'd be getting cake slices from our aunt. she'll give each person a slice of cake, but for me she'll cut it smaller and take off the frosting and say "you don't need that anyway" yeah i'm being a pansy and complaining, but it sure as heck doesn't make my day hearing/watching that crap.

btw, i've lost 8 pounds since mid feb, while seeings gains on my bench/squat/deadlift.

Atenza6i btw, i've lost 8 pounds since mid feb, while seeings gains on my bench/squat/deadlift. Keep it up

As a fattie I've been there done that. I really think 90% of fat people who want to lose weight don't go through with it because they don't know what to expect. People think, "oh man I'll lose 50lbs in like 2-3 months no problem!" Then after week 3 when the initial loss of water weight and truth of the matter hits them they decide that they'll do it later or its "too hard". The thing most fat people forget to realize is that you did not gain those extra 20,30,150lbs over night! It happened over a long time as you gradually became heavier and most likely lazier. I failed at turning my life around atleast 20 times. This time though I changed my mindset. I decided that I wasn't going to pollute and mistreat my body. I quit smoking, got myself a good diet (no starvation for me), figured out a good lifting schedule, started going for walks and 7 almost 8 months later I am 58lbs lighter(255-198) and feeling better than ever. I go home and people stop in their tracks when they see me. Its a great feeling and I wish more people knew what it was like. I also hate the way people, parents and family especially, try and "help" their fat children or relatives. Oh stop eating that.. don't enjoy life... go outside.. do this.. do that.. NOBODY has ever given me decent advice. Everyone just spouted off the myth of the week. Don't eat carbs.. don't eat fats.. don't eat. I had to go about reading about nutrtition and I had to make a lifestyle change to get where I am. I can wait till I can start bulking and if someone had told me that in the future I would want to put on weight I would laugh at them. So umm yeah thats enough ranting for me. Go fatties GO!

Go fatties GO! thats the way it has always been for me. i lost 30 pounds my senior year, i definately needed to lose more but it felt great, then i went to college and i fucked everything up. when i was away at college the rest of my family all started doing weight watchers together and my sister and dad both lost a lot of weight, my sister lost like ~60 pounds, yet i still sat around and kept telling her atleast i can eat whatever i want. i regret my previous choices with my weight so much and i really do think that this is the time i change, i can only hope to have the same success you had.

IQUOTE] So true. i just get angry when people try to tell me how to lose weight. they don't realize that i've been losing weight on my own, with my own will power. when people tell you that you should lose weight or point out whehter you should eat that or not, it doesn't help AT ALL. if anything, it helps me with my lifts b/c i just direct that frustration onto the barbell.

mask of obsidian I can only hope to have the same success you had. In the end its all about how badly you want change. And for me its something I have wanted all my life. I've lived a very privaleged life. I've always gotten the material goods I wanted and I've around the world and back. The one thing money could never buy me though was discipline and self respect. Those are two things I desire and by doing this I am not only creating them but I am also creating the body I've always wanted.

Joe Canada This is what I do now. What can I add I have been doing this workout since November. Thanks. I don't know what other information you need. You need to tailor fit the rep scheme to the exercise and fit it with the rep schemes of other exercises that work the same group. For example if one week I do 8,6,4,4,2 on flat bb bench then I will usually do something like 3x6-8 on db incline bench and 3x8-10 for flies. EDIT: Oh and if you are 122, you DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, ever need to do cardio. In fact anytime the thought pops into your mind go to your kitchen, get a plate, pile as much food as humanly possible on that plate, and sit there until you eat it all.

Ya I follow you. I am not sure what you mean by rep scheme's? Do some excersices have more importance in the scheme? Thanks for your help.

Joe Canada Ya I follow you. I am not sure what you mean by rep scheme's? Do some excersices have more importance in the scheme? Thanks for your help. A little off topic, where in Canada do you live?

Montreal, but I have been in Sacramento California since 01 going to school.

eating chicken breasts should be your new cardio

Joe Canada Montreal, but I have been in Sacramento California since 01 going to school. Cool, where in Montreal? South Shore or directly in Montreal?

what are your goals, build mass, or keep toned?

also, how old are you?

My parents live off the Island of Montreal in Pincourt. When I last lived there we lived in the Hudson area. I am 22 and I want mass and strength.

Joe Canada Ya I follow you. I am not sure what you mean by rep scheme's? Do some excersices have more importance in the scheme? Thanks for your help. Compound movements (ie. bench, squat, DL, rows) are usually done in the lower rep range although it is important to vary the reps to get a wide variety and increase strength and hypertrophy. Accessory movements (ie. flies, curls) are usually done in a slightly higher rep range.

Do this routine and eat a lot. Then eat some more. http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=1574598 I'm 5'7" and started at 125. Now up to 145
