Ginseng and Green Tea Extract

Ginseng and Green Tea Extract

I picked up a bottle of siberian ginseng and some product called revxp(came attached to my protein container), took them before my workout today, and felt like the energizer bunny. I love this stuff. The ginseng is pretty straight forward, but I was wondering if anybody knew of what the revxp is made of and what exactly it does. RevXP: Per serving (3 capsules):Green Tea Extract: 900mg Yerba Mate Extract: 600mg Coleus Forskolii Extract: 360mg "6-pack" (prorietary blend): 350mg - Dandelion leaf and root - Synephrine - Octopamine - 4-Hydroxyisoleucine - Amentoflavone - Piper Nigrum

Someone must know something... Bump

Forskolin is often added to thermos, It supposedly releases cAMP, to boost fat burning rate. Yerba Mate is a caffeine source though I'm not sure.

my understanding is that it has caffeine, theobromine and forskolin in it, but I'm not sure what else. Nor do i know what exactly the ingredients do... it appears that this stuff is marketed the same way other "fast weight loss formula"s are. edit: beaten by the all mighty hotness himself, Timber edit again: my "knowledge" is worthless

Would it be likely that it was the revxp or ginseng that kept me going yesterday? Has anyone heard of the ingredients in revxp being bad for you when taken over a period of time?

I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing there really more potent than ECA stacks.

The Cat RRRRAAAAAA is officially out of the bag

I started this new job about 3 months ago and just tried to keep a quiet cool attitude and not really discuss my outside interests too much because I really am more of a quiet person... anyways...the pregnant woman openly asked me about diet tips and exercises she can do to help with her pregnancy and weight gain. So...there were 6 girls around when they heard this..and the one girl asked me if I was a PT or certified or something. I said just "no" and the other girl stood up and said I am a bodybuilder. So thats all they needed to hear when they came around and started firing off all types of questions about weight loss and even weight gain. So I'm just spinning my head about all this and don't know who's talking about what. so shit I told them if they wanted 'personal attention' to talk to me later about it too bad I don't run this as a business...I'd clean up

Filmboy44 too bad I don't run this as a business...I'd clean up Start one on the side, contract yourself out to a gym or something.

tell them about a great form of cardio where you don't even need to leave the bedroom, as long as you have a workout partner

its a small office too...there are a few that I'd off the "personal" service too "lets work that fat off honey"

christophers i play PT for a lot of people and dont ask anything for it. for some reason i just like helping people. although i get stuff for it all the tme, including money. i'm not going to say no. 4 tubs of muscle milk + 150$ came today from someone i helped lose 25 lb's and get to 8% i actually woulda rather just had cash instead of that muscle milk but oh well thats rather generous. Most of the time my advice isn't taken...so they keep comin back. they don't want to hear dieting isn't easy and they actually have to work at it for a while before they see results. I don't mind. I like talking about it and helping them. THey aren't hurting me any by not listening so whatever

cavefish Start one on the side, contract yourself out to a gym or something. oh and don't forget to contact the IRS to report any extra income.

evi1eddie tell them about a great form of cardio where you don't even need to leave the bedroom, as long as you have a workout partner I think the pregnant woman figured that one out all by herself

cunninglinguist I think the pregnant woman figured that one out all by herself

I am immune to cutting. :wtf:

I am immune to cutting. :wtf:

I have been cutting for 2 weeks now. I have about one cheat meal per week (usually when I am out with my gf). I have had 2 alcoholic beverages in these 2 weeks. Out of the 14 days, I have been at 2500 calories/day +/- 200 calories. My diet has been basically 40-50% protein, 25% fat, and the rest carbs. I haven't lost a fucking pound. This doesn't make sense..

This doesn't make sense.. how much cardio are you doing?

ummm your body wont even start to lose until its adjusts to the diet, it takes me 4 weeks to get into the burning zone. Also you have been cheating your first two weeks in and drinking? Ummm let us know when you start cutting for real

gsteclipse97 how much cardio are you doing? 1-2 times/week, ~20 mins each time. I'm easing into it..

PurEvl ummm your body wont even start to lose until its adjusts to the diet, it takes me 4 weeks to get into the burning zone. Also you have been cheating your first two weeks in and drinking? Ummm let us know when you start cutting for real I thought that as long as I keep my calories at ~12x body weight, I should be fine. That's what I've been doing, and my cheat days haven't been very bad at all (maybe 3500 calories, or maintenance). What should I do?

Ilyusha 1-2 times/week, ~20 mins each time. I'm easing into it.. i didnt see anything till i was doing at least 4 days at 30 mins. now after about 6 weeks of 5 days 30 mins weight loss has slowed. up the cardio, drop the cheat meals and alcohol if you really wanna see results. if i can do it you can, i havent drank but once this year

Ilyusha I thought that as long as I keep my calories at ~12x body weight, I should be fine. That's what I've been doing, and my cheat days haven't been very bad at all (maybe 3500 calories, or maintenance). What should I do? i would suggest lowering your cals. but thats just my opinion

gsteclipse97 i didnt see anything till i was doing at least 4 days at 30 mins. now after about 6 weeks of 5 days 30 mins weight loss has slowed. up the cardio, drop the cheat meals and alcohol if you really wanna see results. if i can do it you can, i havent drank but once this year Hmm.. well the reason I had alcohol and one of the 2 cheat days is because I had my 4 year anniversary this past weekend.. I will try and up the cardio. I haven't even had that "water weight" dramatic loss that everyone says they have in the first couple weeks.

lower callories more

vettedude lower callories more That's gonna suck.

Ilyusha Hmm.. well the reason I had alcohol and one of the 2 cheat days is because I had my 4 year anniversary this past weekend.. I will try and up the cardio. I haven't even had that "water weight" dramatic loss that everyone says they have in the first couple weeks. i didnt have any dramatic loss at all when i got goin steady, just 2lbs a week or so. try to go at least 2-3 weeks with no cheating to see if the diet etc is working correctly.

Ilyusha That's gonna suck. indeed

gsteclipse97 i didnt have any dramatic loss at all when i got goin steady, just 2lbs a week or so. try to go at least 2-3 weeks with no cheating to see if the diet etc is working correctly. Alright, I'll see if I can do that. I was aiming at 1.5-2lbs/week loss.. and I didn't even get that. It's disheartening..

Ilyusha That's gonna suck. i wouldnt lower them yet, i have been cutting at 12xbw for 6 weeks and its been fine. i think if you up the cardio to at least 30 mins 4-5 days and no cheating you will see results

Ilyusha Alright, I'll see if I can do that. I was aiming at 1.5-2lbs/week loss.. and I didn't even get that. It's disheartening.. you will if you do that, i have been except for the last 2 weeks but that was after a 12lb or so loss. liek i said if i can do it you can i have never been a lean guy and i am on my way.

gsteclipse97 i wouldnt lower them yet, i have been cutting at 12xbw for 6 weeks and its been fine. i think if you up the cardio to at least 30 mins 4-5 days and no cheating you will see results how much do u weigh? u clould be leaner than him, I am at about 228, and i dont think i am eating 2400 cals a day..

gsteclipse97 you will if you do that, i have been except for the last 2 weeks but that was after a 12lb or so loss. liek i said if i can do it you can i have never been a lean guy and i am on my way. I didn't think cardio was as important as diet, if I was pretty serious with the diet (which I think I was). I guess I have to rethink how to lose this excess weight..

Ilyusha I didn't think cardio was as important as diet, if I was pretty serious with the diet (which I think I was). I guess I have to rethink how to lose this excess weight.. i rarely do cardio...

vettedude how much do u weigh? u clould be leaner than him, I am at about 228, and i dont think i am eating 2400 cals a day.. i was at close to 230 when i started now around 215. i have been eating close to 2600+- cals a day. i didnt think the cardio was as big of deal either till someone gave me some insight and next thing you know big difference. i went from 18 to 14% bf in like 6 weeks

i am just recommending what i am doing because from seeing you it seems like you have a little more muscle mass than me but similar amount of fat and body type

gsteclipse97 i was at close to 230 when i started now around 215. i have been eating close to 2600+- cals a day. i didnt think the cardio was as big of deal either till someone gave me some insight and next thing you know big difference. i went from 18 to 14% bf in like 6 weeks I was quite a bit higher than 18% when i started...

vettedude I was quite a bit higher than 18% when i started... so was i, i was at least 30%

gsteclipse97 i was at close to 230 when i started now around 215. i have been eating close to 2600+- cals a day. i didnt think the cardio was as big of deal either till someone gave me some insight and next thing you know big difference. i went from 18 to 14% bf in like 6 weeks I'm ~235 right now, closer to 230. I'll keep going with the diet and try to add in more cardio and see if that helps.

once you get going if you have to cheat once i a while ok, but i would try very hard to not for the first 2-4 weeks so that your body can adjust

Lower calories. or Increase cardio. And what exactly are you eating? Are you keeping a food log or are you just guessing?

I am immune to cutting. :wtf:

Judge strikes down FDA ban on ephedra!!!1

Judge strikes down FDA ban on ephedra!!!1

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7504443/

so it's coming back?

msnbc.com SALT LAKE CITY - A federal judge Thursday struck down the FDA ban on ephedra, the once-popular weight-loss aid that was yanked from the market after it was linked to dozens of deaths. advertisement The judge ruled in favor of a Utah company that challenged the Food and Drug Administration's ban. Utah-based Nutraceutical claimed in its lawsuit that ephedra "has been safely consumed" for hundreds of years. Supplements that included ephedra have been widely used for weight loss and bodybuilding, but have been linked to 155 deaths, including that of Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler. The FDA ordered the substance off the market in April 2004. .

Now to see if this will be marketed well, challenges before chances of manufacturing, etc...

Noice

whats the big deal? ephedrine has been legal all along and I thought that it is better than ephedra, at least in to the degree that the concentration per tab is more uniform.

i read in one of the articles that the ball is in the FDA's court now or something along those lines giivng me the impression that although that judge ruled in favor of the utah company, the fda can still ban it.

meh who gives a shit really....

Dragon whats the big deal? ephedrine has been legal all along and I thought that it is better than ephedra, at least in to the degree that the concentration per tab is more uniform. Tell me how easily you can find ephedrine by itself, without a prescription...

Sgt. Ownage meh who gives a shit really.... no ph no care?

tryfuhl Tell me how easily you can find ephedrine by itself, without a prescription... 1fast400.com

gsteclipse97 1fast400.com tryfuhl Tell me how easily you can find ephedrine by itself, without a prescription... can you not read?

tryfuhl no ph no care? nah, just that ephedrine eclipses ephedra in price/effectiveness

mike so it's coming back? it was never really gone

Sgt. Ownage nah, just that ephedrine eclipses ephedra in price/effectiveness Yeah, but if this pans out, we'll be able to get it straight.. and in mixes as a dietary supplement... I don't think that some people are getting that ephedrine can't be in dietary supplements, or sold straight (easily), either

superbri007 1fast400 sells it by itself, last time i checked....but it was out of stock. now, ephedrine with Guaifenesin is another story Yeah, it's been out of stock for years though

spoofy it was never really gone you on the other hand, have been

http://www.1fast400.com/?products_id=50 i wouldnt call this out of stock. jeez it was never gone, just the products like stacker and xenadrine were and every one makes to big of a deal of the guaifenesin

gsteclipse97 http://www.1fast400.com/?products_id=50 i wouldnt call this out of stock. jeez it was never gone, just the products like stacker and xenadrine were and every one makes to big of a deal of the guaifenesin I know a pretty good deal about supplements, including herbs, I'm not making a "big deal" out of it. Honestly, have you taken eph with and without guaf?

tryfuhl I know a pretty good deal about supplements, including herbs, I'm not making a "big deal" out of it. Honestly, have you taken eph with and without guaf? yes i didnt notice a difference at all. i the one from 1fast has worked just fine for me

gsteclipse97 yes i didnt notice a difference at all. i the one from 1fast has worked just fine for me Sounds good; but this opens up the door (if all goes through) for more cheap premixes with stuff liek caffeine, etc already thrown in with it...

again that is

tryfuhl Sounds good; but this opens up the door (if all goes through) for more cheap premixes with stuff liek caffeine, etc already thrown in with it... true, but after i never liked xenadrine etc compared to my own stack. xenadrine made me feel like shit and my heart was gonna explode

tryfuhl you on the other hand, have been miss me?

gsteclipse97 true, but after i never liked xenadrine etc compared to my own stack. xenadrine made me feel like shit and my heart was gonna explode we could get good home-mixes from 1fast or something tho, if they choose to do one...

Whose in the Loose skin crew with me?

Whose in the Loose skin crew with me?

Lost a significant (100lbs) of weight, and now your stuck with this loose, pudgy, loose skin..... Ill tell you, if you didnt know i lost 100 lbs, you would probably think it was a sack of fat or something. Its a huge thing for me....i dont know if it is for other people who have lost weight. I hate the sag on my stomach the most. But with it also, my muscles dont nearly look defined if i didnt have it.

Take it as a sign that you are meant to be HYUUUGE.

Loose skin crew member since 2003 Once I get down to about 200lbs, I'm gonna look into getting surgery to get it cut off.

im 19 and im on my way to 50 pounds lost total, will i have loose skin

Edghill im 19 and im on my way to 50 pounds lost total, will i have loose skin maybe, its partially determined by half fast ya drop the weight. The slower you lose it, the more time the skin's elasticity has to adapt. you should already have an idea by just looking in the mirror I dropped like 10lbs a month, which didn't let the skin adapt to my smaller body

Dragon420 Loose skin crew member since 2003 Once I get down to about 200lbs, I'm gonna look into getting surgery to get it cut off. Good luck, insurance wont cover it, i have been to a plastic surgeon already...he said it wasnt worth it...but i think it was

i have dropped 15 pounds in the past 6 weeks so i dont know, i dont see any loose yet, im hoping that im young enough now that it will come back.....i guess we will just wait and see, August 6 is my 20th birthday and i want to be down 40 by then

Dragon420 maybe, its partially determined by half fast ya drop the weight. The slower you lose it, the more time the skin's elasticity has to adapt. you should already have an idea by just looking in the mirror I dropped like 10lbs a month, which didn't let the skin adapt to my smaller body I wish i knew about this sooner..... i lost 100lbs in about 3-4 months

deznutz I wish i knew about this sooner..... i lost 100lbs in about 3-4 months DAMN how did you manage that

christophers i just take a bath in preperation H before i'm going to fuck a girl

christophers i just take a bath in preperation H before i'm going to fuck a girl

Edghill DAMN how did you manage that motivation, dedication, girls, parents... didnt see OT F&N until i lost all the weight....... No fast food No candy No pasta I was addicted to pasta....i used to eat it with noodles and butter.... but i cut a lot of food out and limited myself to at least 800 cals...

deznutz Good luck, insurance wont cover it, i have been to a plastic surgeon already...he said it wasnt worth it...but i think it was fdefinitely worth it to me too. all that extra skin just looks bad to me. I really gotta start saving up cause I want to get that and laser eye surgery too. maybe if we get enough of a crew we can get a deal

Dragon420 fdefinitely worth it to me too. all that extra skin just looks bad to me. I really gotta start saving up cause I want to get that and laser eye surgery too. maybe if we get enough of a crew we can get a deal I dont think they would give a group rate...if we all showed up wanting a tummy tuck...

when your skin is loose like that, is it also thin?

deznutz I dont think they would give a group rate...if we all showed up wanting a tummy tuck... if there's enough of ex-fatty's standing around the guys porsche/ferrari/whatever, think he'd be dumb enough to say no?

Dunken when your skin is loose like that, is it also thin? Yes, but its hard to tell between fat/skin........plus i have a distended stomach....

anybody here with lots of extra skin in single digit bf%? I was reading an interesting article about this a few weeks back, let me see if i can find it.

ok well it's not really an article but interesting anyway Dear Tom, Before I ask my question I just wanted to say thank you for all the help your Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle e-book (and the monthly newsletters) have given me with my recent weight losses. Last summer I began a fat loss program using your e-book and it worked so well I got down to 15 1/2 stones (from 19). However, this has caused me a problem: Excess abdominal skin. I didn't crash lose this weight, it came off at the rate of about 2 lbs. per week. Now I'm unsure of whether to carry on, as my abdomen has quite a lot of excess skin - I feel like I've turned into a bloody Shar-Pei! (you know, as in the dog!) Does everyone go through this? Will the skin tighten up? I was overweight for more than 12 years. Am I going to end up needing surgical skin removal? Can you offer me any advice? I'm a medical student in the UK and my colleagues seem determined to proffer surgery as the only option - Needless to say, I would like to avoid that if at all possible... Sincerely, Mike Hi Mike Thank you for your email and congratulations on your successful fat loss Regarding loose skin after large weight losses, here's what I can tell you: 1. Skin is incredibly elastic. Just look at what women go through during pregnancy. Skin has the ability to expand and contract back to normal to a remarkable degree. 2. Elasticity of skin tends to decrease with age. Wrinkling and loss of elasticity is partly the consequence of aging (genetic factors) and also a result of environmental factors such as oxidative stress, excessive sun exposure, and nutritional deficiency. The environmental parts you can fix, the genetics and age part, you cannot. Advice: Get moving and change the things you have control over... Be realistic and don't worry about those things you don't have control over. 3. How much your skin will return to its former tautness therefore, depends partly on age. The older you get, the more an extremely large weight loss can leave loose skin that will not return to normal 4. How long someone carries extra weight has a lot to do with how much the skin will become taut after the weight loss: For example, compare a 9 month pregnancy with 9 years carrying 100 excess pounds. 5. How much weight was carried has a lot to do with how much the skin will resume a tight appearance. Your skin can only be stretched so much and be expected to "snap back" one hundred percent. 6. How fast the weight was gained also has a lot to do with how much the skin will resume a tight appearance. Your skin can only be stretched so quickly and be expected to "snap back." 7. How fast weight is lost also has a lot to do with how much the skin will tighten up. Rapid weight loss doesn't allow the skin time to slowly resume to normal. (yet another reason to lose fat slowly; 1-2 pounds per week, 3 pounds at the most if you have a lot of weight to lose, and even then, only if you are measuring body fat and you're certain it's fat you're losing). 8. There are exceptions to all of the above; i.e, people who gained and then lost incredible amounts of weight quickly at age 50 or 60, and their skin returned 100% to normal. 9. There are many creams advertised as having the ability to restore the tightness of your skin. None work - at least not in a noticeable, measurable way - and especially if you have a LOT of loose skin. Don't waste your money. 10. If you're considering surgical skin removal, consult a physician for advice, because this is not a minor operation, but keep in mind that your plastic surgeon may be making his BMW payments with your abdominoplasty money. (Surgery may be recommended in situations where it's not 100% necessary). Surgery should be left as the ABSOLUTE FINAL option in extreme cases. 11. Give your skin time. Your skin will get tighter as your body fat gets lower. I've seen and heard of many cases where the skin gradually tightened up, at least partially, after a one or two year period where the weight loss was maintained and exercise continued. 12. Know your body fat percentage before even THINKING about surgery. Loose skin is one thing, but still having body fat is another. Be honest with yourself and do that by taking your body fat measurement. This can be done with skinfold calipers or a variety of other devices (calipers might not be the best option for those with large folds of loose skin. Look into impedance analysis, underwater weighing, DEXA or Bod Pod). Suppose for example, a man drops from 35% body fat all the way down to 20%. He should be congratulated, but I would tell him, "Don't bitch about loose skin, your body fat is still high. Press onward and keep getting leaner." Average body fat for men is in the mid teens (16% or so) Good body fat for men is 10-12%, and single digits is extremely lean (men shouldn't expect to look "ripped" with 100% tight skin on the abs unless they have single digit body fat, and women low teens). Except in extreme cases, you are very unlikely to see someone with loose skin who has very low body fat. It's quite remarkable how much your skin can tighten up and literally start to "cling" to your abdominal muscles once your body fat goes from "average" to "excellent." Someone with legitimate single digit body fat and a ton of loose skin is a rare sight. So... the key to getting tighter skin is to lose more body fat, up to the point where your body composition rating is BETTER than average (in the "good" to "great" category, not just "okay"). Only AFTER you reach your long term body fat percentage goal should you give thought to "excess skin removal." At that point, admittedly, there are bound to be a few isolated cases where surgery is necessary if you can't live with the amount of loose skin remaining. However, unless you are really, really lean, it's difficult to get a clear picture of what is loose skin, what is just remaining body fat and how much further the skin will tighten up when the rest of the fat is lost. http://www.fitren.com/res3ask.cfm?compid=18&qaid=163

deznutz i lost 100lbs in about 3-4 months Wow thats extremely unhealthy. If you could go back in time would you do it any differently?

deznutz Lost a significant (100lbs) of weight, and now your stuck with this loose, pudgy, loose skin..... deznutz Yes, but its hard to tell between fat/skin........plus i have a distended stomach.... dud ei have the same problem on my neck/chin its not fat BUT YOU CANT TELL

i dont have it bad

one of my friends has it really bad, dropped 100 lbs in about 6-8 months and now he's around 10% body fat, when he sits down the 6 pack is there but the skin just freely hangs over his shorts

Dumb question

Dumb question

I recently started a new job and I dont have access to a fridge/cooking equipment. Its bag and box lunches all the way. Since I dont feel like eating cold chicken all the time I was considering makeing my diet staple eggs. Is this a good or bad idea? Lets say I eat 5 hard boiled eggs for lunch everyday whats the calories going to look like? I already eat 5 for breakfast with a slice of toast. I looked on my egg cartons and there is no dietary info so any help would be great. I am thinking of just makeing it a nice dozen eggs that I eat everyday. IE 6 for breakfast w toast, 6 for lunch, baked chicken/tuna/salad something like that for dinner. CLIFFS : how many calories are in a egg with yolk, and without yolk if at all possible.

I did a quick google and found this does it appear accurate to all you f&ners? Egg White 17 calories Egg Yolk 59 calories Fried Egg 92 calories Hard-Boiled Egg 76 calories Poached Egg 76 calories Scrambled Egg 100 calories (includes addition of milk in recipe)

youre gonna get sick of eggs fast

sounds about right

there are between 60-70 calories per egg

crucialkc youre gonna get sick of eggs fast no i wont i love eggs. then again im only eating 2.5 dozen a week right now. Are there any negatives i should be worried about eating so many eggs?

Filmboy44 there are between 60-70 calories per egg Yeah but believe it or not, whenever you cook eggs, the amount of calories increases very very slightly

the protein to cal seems a little low should I maybe throw a can of tuna in at lunch to?

Silver85327 no i wont i love eggs. then again im only eating 2.5 dozen a week right now. Are there any negatives i should be worried about eating so many eggs? you're only eating 2.5 doz per week, and you're talking about eating 7 doz per week. HUGE difference. other than salmonella, which I doubt you'll get, I don't see what could be wrong with it

crucialkc Yeah but believe it or not, whenever you cook eggs, the amount of calories increases very very slightly which is why I said between 60-70...everything is variable

Silver85327 the protein to cal seems a little low should I maybe throw a can of tuna in at lunch to? never can get too much tuna

crucialkc you're only eating 2.5 doz per week, and you're talking about eating 7 doz per week. HUGE difference. other than salmonella, which I doubt you'll get, I don't see what could be wrong with it I give him a week before eggs make him sick, 7 dozens is too much, that can't be healthy. I say suck it up and eat your cold grilled chicken sandwich and other cold foods.

RenaultFreak I give him a week before eggs make him sick, 7 dozens is too much, that can't be healthy. I say suck it up and eat your cold grilled chicken sandwich and other cold foods. i back this

how much protien does an average chicken breast have? a can of tuna?

RenaultFreak I give him a week before eggs make him sick, 7 dozens is too much, that can't be healthy. I say suck it up and eat your cold grilled chicken sandwich and other cold foods. right, and there are more things out there other than eggs and chicken to eat for protein sources.. get yourself a damn tub of protein, some turkey and fish for crying out loud

Inferno69 how much protien does an average chicken breast have? a can of tuna? both are around 35ish

Inferno69 how much protien does an average chicken breast have? a can of tuna? dunno about hte tuna...cause I dont' eat it, but chicken...8oz = 40-50grams

RenaultFreak I give him a week before eggs make him sick, 7 dozens is too much, that can't be healthy. I say suck it up and eat your cold grilled chicken sandwich and other cold foods. i only work 4 days a week 10 hours a day. so im talking 5 dozen a week

alright, so I should get tons of protien a day... do lots of cardio and some shit with freeweights (still need an answer to my question in my other thread) and I'll be loosing weight fast? What about carbs? Should I try eating as little as I can or what?

Filmboy44 you're a long ways off from losing weight fast my friend...first spend a few days in the archives reading about weight gain weight loss and working out and cardio and nutritional facts, diets, etc. I've been doing that for the whole weekend

Filmboy44 his post still applies so ya think i should rotate? like 6 eggs on monday chicken breast for lunch dinner. then eggs for b eggs for l the like eggs for b t for lunch etc? im concerned with my food going bad sitting in 100 degree weather for 6 hours rather than the protein i am getting.

Silver85327 Are there any negatives i should be worried about eating so many eggs? you're gonna have alotta nasty farts. edit : on that note, i just farted. and it was pretty sulpherous.

OT: how many workers? dunno there but here if the company has over 10 workers they need to supply a good eating/heating/fridge room, maybe you all should ask for at least a fridge and a microwave. Even hard boiled eggs can go bad after 6 hours on 100 degree weather. I think you should rotate them with another 5-6 different meals, cold sandwiches, cold salads or take in consideration not carrying your own food but eating in a nearby restaurant/dinner.... edit: 5 dozens per week is still too much

Ok, I wish i had pics to tell the story.... My upper chest is fine, i can see improvements (line down the middle) and my "pecs" developing nicely...my arms are fine, my legs are fine.... The problem comes with the lower chest/ "triangle groin area" It looks like i have ample amounts of fat around these areas....but i am the healthiest eater around plus i work-out everyday and i am petty freakin active walking around.... is cardio my answer?

wont go away until you cut

If you have fat around your belly, you need to lose it, and you can't spot reduce. Eating healthy != weight loss. Cardio, eat less, and try some abdominal tightening exercises (google).

gyno?

Groin gyno.

2lowintegra gyno? YES! gyno on his abs! BRILLIANT!lc

jonno YES! gyno on his abs! BRILLIANT!lc that's my excuse

ralyks Cardio, eat less, and try some abdominal tightening exercises (google). ^^^ By 'lower chest', do you mean abdominals/obliques? It sounds like you need cardio and core exercises.

do squats on an exercise ball-its a wonderful core exercise =/

You've been on F&N forever dude, would've thought you'd know by now that the only way to get rid of fat is to cut it (and belly / lower torso fat is the last to go).

My older lady coworker said to me

"did you read the paper, they have this new 3 hour diet, you eat every three hours and the right foods, I might try it" I kinda looked at her funny and she said "Have you heard of it before?" I said "well, it isn't really a new concept....." she thought she had discovered fire or something

I eat whatever I want for 5 minutes a day, and I lose tons of weight!

Am I the only one who's noticed some of the solid fundamentals bodybuilders have known for years starting to creep into the "mainstream" diet fad/scene/whateveryouwanttocallit ?

Zaffir Am I the only one who's noticed some of the solid fundamentals bodybuilders have known for years starting to creep into the "mainstream" diet fad/scene/whateveryouwanttocallit ? Some of it. I dunno, there is still a lot of misinformation everywhere though. Some obese girl made fun of me today because I was giving advice to someone else about how working out your "core" was good for various reasons and thats why he should do squats/deads/GM's what not. She muttered under her breath to her boyfriend that "core" was the new buzzword, then argued with me later about how cardio makes you feel so much better and weight lifting guys aren't her type. :-|

if they put it in "women's health" or "Redbook" it must be new and improved!

I'm not sure whether I want to cry or laugh

oh well, at least it's correct and healthy. unlike the other trend garbage you can find.

I only had 4 meals yesterday, I'm fucked.

holy shit, you eat every 3 hours and that means your metabolism stays steady no ups and downs, WHAT A CONCEPT!!!!!!

who said anything about magical numbers? i don't know anything about the "philosophy" they might publish with said diet, but grassroots it's an easy to follow guideline for your average person who would otherwise eat like shit. i think it's a good thing

hey post something about that chris, about the difference between eating all calories in 3 meals as opposed to 6, or eating all calories early in the day as opposed to spreading them out.

christophers yeah.. eating every 3 hours elevates your metabolism/keeps it "steady" .. You know how many people are going to go out there now and eat their normal crap every 3 hours and thereby increase their caloric intake?

ryazbeck hey post something about that chris, about the difference between eating all calories in 3 meals as opposed to 6, or eating all calories early in the day as opposed to spreading them out. the difference isn't that big... important meals are breakfast and pre and post workout. everything else is based on personal preferences.

"You drink protein shakes!?!11!!!?111"

I have a new diet. It's called "Eat Less, Lose More!"

I dont know how many times old women have told me that my kidneys are going to fail become of my high protein diet

I like how they say that you can eat whatever you want. Fast food, etc. yeah right

I am thinking of marketing a new book. On the cover it will say "Calories out>Calories in : The Diet of Millenium". Inside it will be blank. I will make millions.

Ivan I like how they say that you can eat whatever you want. Fast food, etc. yeah right You can, as long as you don't eat more calories than you expend, which is more difficult with fast food.

An older lady coworker of mine last summer tried to convince me of the benefits of the cabbage soup diet. You could eat only cabbage soup and some fruits or something for the week. She was one dumb cunt.

That sounds like a cleansing diet, not weight loss.

therealdeal An older lady coworker of mine last summer tried to convince me of the benefits of the cabbage soup diet. You could eat only cabbage soup and some fruits or something for the week. Mass I dont know how many times old women have told me that my kidneys are going to fail become of my high protein diet Or a coworker has asked you "Isn't that protein powder stuff illegal"?"

soko , didnt you have a gastric bypass? hows that going

fat loss concerns

does a diet and excercise break down fat before you lose it? I'm on week 4 of my diet and excercise. I've been eating good and everything except for the morning. I usually just eat a banana or something light since I'm not hungry in the morning. for lunch I have a tuna sandwhich and for dinner a chicken breast or some more tuna. not soda or junk food at all. I do cardio twice a day. once before lunch and once at night. 15 minutes a piece. Now the thing, I notice my pants fit looser but my love handles are starting to hang more then before . is this normal? Its not all the time, only sometimes. Is it in my head or something? also, I haven't felt this good in a long time. oh and I do the cardio 5 days a week. also, I notice I get full very quick. is this normal also? Like I can't even eat much even if I wanted to.

sounds like you need to eat alot more

I'm not quite understanding the question /boggle Are you lifting? Or just doing cardio? Go read all the stickies

haha yeah I read all the stickies. just doing cardio. The thing is though, I guess I got use to not eating alot and get sick if I eat too much. What about the breaking down of fat? or is it in my head that my love handles hang more :O

you don't lose fat everywhere at the same time...

In my experience the fat gets soft and loose as you lose it, so yeah, your love handles could be hanging down more. If what you are doing works than keep doing it though some weight lifting would be good to add to your routine.

etech In my experience the fat gets soft and loose as you lose it, so yeah, your love handles could be hanging down more. If what you are doing works than keep doing it though some weight lifting would be good to add to your routine. Yeah I have noticed that too but could just be in my imagination

I guess its true then. thanks again. I know that I should be eating a little more but trust me, I can't. I guess I started out wrong but my body is use to it now and I get sick if I eat more then I do now. I know cause I've had a couple of days that I eat a little bit more and end up nausous(sp).

Ivan I guess its true then. thanks again. I know that I should be eating a little more but trust me, I can't. I guess I started out wrong but my body is use to it now and I get sick if I eat more then I do now. I know cause I've had a couple of days that I eat a little bit more and end up nausous(sp). if you get sick from eating too much then just up your calories a little bit at a time until you have a healthier amount of calories. Shouldnt be too hard, just have like a spoonful of natty peanut butter or an extra 2 or 3 eggs.

Ivan I guess its true then. thanks again. I know that I should be eating a little more but trust me, I can't. I guess I started out wrong but my body is use to it now and I get sick if I eat more then I do now. I know cause I've had a couple of days that I eat a little bit more and end up nausous(sp). are you drinking enough water?

And why aren't you lifting?? Out of curiosity..

bclimn are you drinking enough water? of course. thats all I drink.

Elfling And why aren't you lifting?? Out of curiosity.. I wanna lose some fat first then Ima start lifting when I feel I have lost enough.

Ivan I wanna lose some fat first then Ima start lifting when I feel I have lost enough. Reread the sticky on lifting to assist in losing weight... it changed how I think for weight loss (granted I haven't started lifting yet because of my stupid busy schedule )

Ivan I wanna lose some fat first then Ima start lifting when I feel I have lost enough. I used to think the same thing where I would do only cardio and trust me when I say that lifting is so much better then cardio. If you only lift you will lose jsut as much if not more weight then if doing only cardio and you will gain strength and some muscle as well. Lift now or you will regret it later.

BuckNut I used to think the same thing where I would do only cardio and trust me when I say that lifting is so much better then cardio. If you only lift you will lose jsut as much if not more weight then if doing only cardio and you will gain strength and some muscle as well. Lift now or you will regret it later. i agree. it sounds like you're in a severe calorie deficit. what you'll end up doing is losing a ton of weight, but still being flabby. its cause you're burning muscle, probably more than fat. i made the same mistake 2 years ago, i ended up being skinny as hell, but not cut at all. you should be doing what the rest of us "cutting" guys are. eat about 1900-2000 calories (depending on body weight) split up into 6 meals. keep protien intake at atleast 1g per lb of body weight (to help retain muscle) and eat clean otherwise. you probably dont need cardio 10x a week either, maybe do cardio 3x a week and a solid 3 day weight training split (workout 3x a week). otherwise i just dont think you'll be happy with your results, and it will just take you longer to reach what you think you should look like. this is all coming from personal experience.

How much whey protein in a serving?

How much whey protein in a serving?

A friend just told me that your stomach can only handle like 25g of whey protein in half an hour, so anything more just gets turned into fatty acid. Trying to figure out if this is true.

mmm in my serving i take 46 grams and i dont notice anything making me fatter...

SLO2 A friend just told me that your stomach can only handle like 25g of whey protein in half an hour, so anything more just gets turned into fatty acid. Trying to figure out if this is true. So he's saying that regardless of whether or not you are in caloric deficit, consuming more than 25g of whey in half an hour will make you fat. Thats totally logical

XsLiCk mmm in my serving i take 46 grams and i dont notice anything making me fatter... But is it doing you any good? That's my question

Up All Night So he's saying that regardless of whether or not you are in caloric deficit, consuming more than 25g of whey in half an hour will make you fat. Thats totally logical Yea, that's why I was asking here. I'm wondering if it's possible that it gets digested too fast to be processed. Which wouldn't have anything to do with a caloric deficit would it?

SLO2 Yea, that's why I was asking here. I'm wondering if it's possible that it gets digested too fast to be processed. Which wouldn't have anything to do with a caloric deficit would it? Weight gain/weight loss has everything to do with caloric deficit

yes its doing me good i mean... i broke my collar bone about a year and a half ago... and i just started lifting like 3 months ago... started at 115 repping and now i'm repping at 185... newb gains i know... but i struggled with 115... and whenever i work out i notice that if i take protein the day before i can do more reps... maybe its a mental thing as well too... depends how motivated you are as well. but i mean i take protein shakes 3 times a day at 46 grams a shake.

Yea, I'm gonna be doin 3 shakes a day at like 36 grams/shake. I'm not changing my habits, because it's working. Just wondering if this makes any sense at all. I'm not necessarily talking about JUST making you fatter. Maybe just it not being used.

christophers your friend is a moron Resident pro says so... then it must be so. Not like I was gonna change my habits anyway.

SLO2 Yea, I'm gonna be doin 3 shakes a day at like 36 grams/shake. I'm not changing my habits, because it's working. Just wondering if this makes any sense at all. I'm not necessarily talking about JUST making you fatter. Maybe just it not being used. i mean supposedly your body breaks down about 2/3s the amount of protein that you take in... and the rest is stored... so it doesnt hurt to take a lot of protein then again it depends really what you want to do....

mmm... nicely stated

christophers bottom line: nobody really knows how much protein the body can actually utilize in a setting. there is no realistic way to find this out and there has been no documented studies looking at such. it just hasn't been done, and even if it was done it's likely going to vary too much person to person and depend on too many things.. activity, calorie levels, time of ingestion, eg after workout, breakfast, anytime of day, blah blah. also.. size of person, lean body weight, total body mass, etc the type of protein is going to have nothing to do with it. protein is protein, all thats different between whey and a piece of chicken is the fact that whey hits the blood stream faster. that's all. I was gonna just trust your original statement. Thanks for the insight, and well said.

Grouch hmmmmmm well there is a forarme shot. and some tiberwolveesqu lighting in one. stop being a fagmo and either post them or go crunk some more, shit

Ilyusha stop being a fagmo and either post them or go crunk some more, shit

WTF happend to OT uploads 246 lbs March 1st 236 lbs March 22nd 229 lbs April 25th This does the crunking Awwee lighting saves the day...ok well not really but it was worth a try. so basically I'm smaller and weaker too but look the same. I would have taken a tize but they dont make a hat big enough.

im going to have to get down to like 200 to get abs. oh god

hot

you have a long skinny neck. Time to bulk

whoa!

MikeTheVike1 you have a long skinny neck. Time to bulk

christophers if you want me to be honest i dont see all that much diff well nor do i. am i really going to have to cut much lower? Am I dont something horribly wrong. Should I have gotten bigger before. My routine is pretty much the same just with added cardio. Protien intake is still high, no regular soda. even backed off the beers a lot too.

you looked better at 246

I think you looked better at 246, dude. I dunno, maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me, but that's my honest opinion. You are much stronger than you look..

Grouch well nor do i. am i really going to have to cut much lower? Am I dont something horribly wrong. Should I have gotten bigger before. My routine is pretty much the same just with added cardio. Protien intake is still high, no regular soda. even backed off the beers a lot too. you're losing weight... now its just a question of if its muscle or fat. i think you can expect your maxes to be down a bit, which they aren't really... so im guessing the majority of the weight loss was NOT muscle, but rather fat or water or vital organs or something. I'd keep cutting. You set a goal of abs. Realize your dreams and harness your chi

christophers at this rate id guess youll probably have to be ~200 or very possiblly under to see abs.. and seeing abs is dependant on what you mean. the more abs you want to see the lower youll go. using "seeing abs" as a goal isnt a good idea.. for some that will take a lot of sacrifice, and a lot of misery. for others, its not very hard. 50 lbs of mass loss for abs. God i'll look like noxen.

keep going man, see how you feel at 200. If you don't like it I'm sure itll be easy to hit 250 in a short time

Grouch 50 lbs of mass loss for abs. God i'll look like noxen. yes I'm quickly approaching 200lb lean and I agree, its quite noxen ish

Peal keep going man, see how you feel at 200. If you don't like it I'm sure itll be easy to hit 250 in a short time I havn't been 200lbs in like 9 years.

time to cut

Grouch I havn't been 200lbs in like 9 years. I wonder how cavefish's cutting is going? he was even using juice wasn't he? perhaps a contest is in order

Grouch ? Why the cutting phase ? What are your long term goals ?

Why soy protein supplementation is bad for you

Why soy protein supplementation is bad for you

a lot of girls love a guy with big tits

are you saying that soy protein gives you bitchies... never heard that.

keep feeding the propaganda, and ill keep munching on soy patties while looking at my bulging chest

Soy patties?

GilgaMesH Soy patties? whats wrong with soy products?

inspired keep feeding the propaganda, and ill keep munching on soy patties while looking at my bulging chest who needs girls when you've got your own nice pair of bulging tittays

It is a shitty, incomplete protein. And: http://getbuf.com/articles/soyestrogen.shtml

Even if you don't believe that article, it really is a shitty protein. Go eat some fucking meat.

GilgaMesH Even if you don't believe that article, it really is a shitty protein. Go eat some fucking meat. im not going to read the article but lemme guess, theyre talking about phyto-estrogen? and its not a shitty protien, try mixing soy with animal or even whey for a more complete protien source. the most 'complete' protien source doesnt even come from an animal, although that might be hard for you to swallow

Food Source Protein digestibility (%) Egg 97 Milk and cheese 97 Mixed US diet 96 Peanut butter 95 Meat and fish 94 Whole wheat 86 Oatmeal 86 Soybeans 78 Rice 76 Btw, pics of your "bulging" chest?

well isnt this nice to know. not that i eat much of it.

I've heard the whole eating soy and estrogen is a bunch of bs.

I love soybean milk in a can by Yeoh's.Asian stuff. But I rarely drink it so...

Mystery Guest I've heard the whole eating soy and estrogen is a bunch of bs. and ive heard that jessica alba wants my nuts, but until that happens, ill be staying away from any real amount of soy.

KetchupKing a lot of girls love a guy with big tits explains a lot for you

wow, there are some extreme misconceptions about soy in here. first, it is a complete protein that is high in BCAAs and glutamine. second, it is a superior protein as far as digestibility and utilization than whey or milk. third, i have reviewed studies done on older men and babies and both cases found NO hormonal differences in test levels with soy protein diet supplementation.

quasar wow, there are some extreme misconceptions about soy in here. first, it is a complete protein that is high in BCAAs and glutamine. second, it is a superior protein as far as digestibility and utilization than whey or milk. third, i have reviewed studies done on older men and babies and both cases found NO hormonal differences in test levels with soy protein diet supplementation. According to the National Research Council's "Recommended Dietary Allowances", 10th ed. National Academy Press, 1989, Soybeans have a Protein digestibility (%) of 78 while milk is at 97. Is there a difference between the protein digestibility of whole soybeans to soy protein powder?

quasar second, it is a superior protein as far as digestibility and utilization than whey or milk. PDCAAS and BV suggest otherwise

ok, the digestability stuff was from a page i was reading about the isolate. if only i could find a reputable company that makes the isolate, i would try it. ibfemalesteroidsarefoundinsoy

check this out, this actually describes the trend i'm seeing in recent studies, that soy may actually increase testosterone by lowering levels of SHBG (serum hormone binding globulin). the isoflavones in soy are converted to phytoestrogens which can block the estrogen receptors! http://www.maxsportsmag.com/science/issue12/12s3.htm

quasar older men and babies

from this page:http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/he...fits-use-2.htm "From this and other data it seems the phyto-estrogens can lower cholesterol and improve heart disease risk without systemic estrogenic effects (i.e. gyno, bodyfat increases, etc.) that would normally be seen if say the bodybuilder took estrogen pills or from the normal conversion of certain steroids to estrogen. This study is a little more relevant to us humans being it was done with male monkeys which are far more similar animals to people than rats." it also goes on to say it has been shown to raise thyroid output which accounts for the increased weight loss.

i hate to look like a jackass here but i've read enough studies to be convinced it lowers dht...(idiot)

if soy was as great as you guys seem to think it is i think all asians would be jacked. /thread

"Judge strikes down FDA ban on ephedra"

"Judge strikes down FDA ban on ephedra"

SALT LAKE CITY - A federal judge Thursday struck down the FDA ban on ephedra, the once-popular weight-loss aid that was yanked from the market after it was linked to dozens of deaths - including that of Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler. advertisement The judge ruled in favor of a Utah company that challenged the Food and Drug Administration's ban. Utah-based Nutraceutical claimed in its lawsuit that ephedra "has been safely consumed" for hundreds of years. Supplements that included ephedra have been widely used for weight loss and bodybuilding, but have been linked to 155 deaths. The FDA ordered the substance off the market in April 2004. Judge Tena Campbell's ruling sends the matter back to the FDA "for further rulemaking consistent with the court's opinion" and keeps the agency from enforcement action against the companies. What does this mean for us?

it means you shoulda scrolled down a bit and joined teh thread that is already going

Best Ephedra substitute on the market?

I'm just curious if any products on the market have matched what Ephedra did. I highly doubt it, but what's the best thing out there now the Ephedra has been banned

Im pretty sure you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and are asking about ephedra/ephedrine because you treat it like a magic pill and have a complete lack of willpower.

Is ephedra really banned?? Cause when I was in walmart about a month ago I read the Trim Spa box and sure enough it said ephedrine wheich is the same as ephedra.

It probably had pseudoephedrine. Different stuff. Incidently ephedra is unbanned now I think I saw.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...phedra_suit_19 Utah Judge Strikes Down Ephedra Ban Fri Apr 15, 8:44 PM ET Health - AP By MARK THIESSEN, Associated Press Writer SALT LAKE CITY - A federal judge has struck down the FDA ban on supplements containing ephedra, a weight-loss aid linked to dozens of deaths, but it's too early to tell whether the product will be back in stores anytime soon. The judge Thursday ruled in favor of a Utah supplement company that challenged the Food and Drug Administration's year-old ban. Nutraceutical claimed that ephedra has been safely consumed for hundreds of years. Research shows that the amphetamine-like herb can speed heart rate and constrict blood vessels even in seemingly healthy people, but it is particularly risky for those with heart disease or high blood pressure or who engage in strenuous exercise. Among the deaths linked to the substance was that of Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler, who collapsed and died during spring training two years ago. The judge's decision was seen by some anti-ephedra advocates as falling short of an outright reversal of the ban, though a Nutraceutical lawyer declared flatly, "the ban is gone." The company said it is too soon to say whether it will put the product back on shelves. Industry groups said supplements that included ephedra were once used by 12 million people. Judge Tena Campbell's order prevents the FDA from stopping Nutraceutical from selling its product and sent the case back to the FDA for a determination of what are safe and dangerous levels of ephedrine. The FDA was evaluating the ruling, but Health and Human Services spokesman William Pierce said the agency "made the right decision from the standpoint of science and our statutory authority. This is exactly when the dietary supplement law should apply." Health officials and Justice Department lawyers are looking at the ruling to determine the next step, Pierce said. Campbell agreed with Nutraceutical that ephedra was wrongly being regulated by the FDA as a drug and not a food. She said a 1994 federal dietary supplement law places more restrictive rules on the FDA in determining whether to ban foods as opposed to drugs. The judge said the law requires the FDA to prove that a dietary supplement is harmful, rather than having the manufacturer prove it is safe, as is required with drugs. "The (FDA's) statement that a safe level cannot be determined is simply not sufficient to meet the government's burden," Campbell wrote. Nutraceutical President Bruce Hough said the lawsuit had little to do with ephedra and more to do with forcing the FDA to follow the rules Congress set down for it. "This is a great affirmation for the system, that the court goes back and says, 'This is Congress' intent,' and follow it," he said. Ephedra opponents said the language in the order applies only to a very specific, lower-dosage segment of the market. The ruling's final page prohibits the FDA from enforcing the ban on Nutraceutical's supplements containing 10 milligrams or less of ephedra. Ten milligrams per day was the dosage of Nutraceutical's products. "No one - not the FDA, the supplement industry, nor the public - has been satisfied by how ephedra has been regulated," said Sen. Orrin Hatch (news, bio, voting record), R-Utah, who helped write the 1994 law that also deregulated the supplement industry. "Millions of people have used the product with satisfaction, but there is no doubt the product has had some serious problems," he said. Illinois Democratic U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, a frequent ephedra critic who worked for the ban, said the ruling underlined the need for "a mandatory and uniform system of reporting adverse health events that result from use of certain dietary supplements."

GilgaMesH Yes it will achieve weight loss. In fact Ephedrine HCL > Ephedra .

Bulking confusion

Bulking confusion

when a lot of you guys bulk it seems like you don't really put that much on around your stomach. i want to bulk because i'm sick of having these little pussy boy arms, but it seems like my body likes to just deposit everything onto my midsection creating huge love handles. i've read all the stickies and i've frequented the forums for awhile now. i understand that you put on fat when bulking, but the main reason i don't want to bulk is because my love handles look sick enough as it is. i'd rather not give them more reason to get bigger. does clean bulking actually prevent this or is there anything i can do to combat my love handles taking on the bulk of the fat gain? i'm sure this has been answered, but i don't even know what to search for. pics for reference

if you bulk correctly, you'll gain significant fat around the midsection. that's just how it is. the people on here who are "bulking" and not gaining fat aren't really bulking. keep eating shitloads of food and ignore your stomach for a couple of months. concentrate on getting stronger and bigger each and every week. eat everything in sight.

Werdna if you bulk correctly, you'll gain significant fat around the midsection. that's just how it is. the people on here who are "bulking" and not gaining fat aren't really bulking. keep eating shitloads of food and ignore your stomach for a couple of months. concentrate on getting stronger and bigger each and every week. eat everything in sight. well, i've been cutting since is started lifting in october. my body composition has changed quite a bit since then. I want to bulk so i can put on more muslce, but it's really difficult for me to tell myself to get fat again.

I know how you feel man because I'm cutting right now and I will through summer but I know im not gonna wanna bulk because I'll lose my pretty definition. But I know im going to have to go through with it. Thats just how that shiet goes man.

i understand this will take longer, but would it work to bulk for a month and then cut and repeat?

I've been bulking for the past 2 weeks to put on muscle, its worked - I'm at my strongest ever so far. My fiancee isn't complaining about that. She is complaining about the gut though. Alas, I must start cutting soon

why is everyone acting like they can't stand to increase their body fat for more than a couple months? if you just want a little more muscle mass in a certain area, then bulking is only going to be temporary, and then after that you're free to cut and you'll never have to bulk again. being more satisfied with your body for the rest of your life > a few months of getting 'fat'

evi1eddie why is everyone acting like they can't stand to increase their body fat for more than a couple months? if you just want a little more muscle mass in a certain area, then bulking is only going to be temporary, and then after that you're free to cut and you'll never have to bulk again. being more satisfied with your body for the rest of your life > a few months of getting 'fat' well, i started working out to lower by bf and i haven't gotten to the point where i consider myself "fit." it's just hard to get fatter when you've worked hard to get rid of it.

bump for pics added

disblohs well, i started working out to lower by bf and i haven't gotten to the point where i consider myself "fit." it's just hard to get fatter when you've worked hard to get rid of it. i sympathize, don't get me wrong these are just the facts, if you want to gain you're going to have to bulk. stop focusing on the short term, and think of the long term and how it will be worth it. you've lost fat before, so you already know you can do it again.

evi1eddie i sympathize, don't get me wrong these are just the facts, if you want to gain you're going to have to bulk. stop focusing on the short term, and think of the long term and how it will be worth it. you've lost fat before, so you already know you can do it again. that's the only good thing to come from my cutting this summer...i proved to myself i could lose fat effectively

Werdna that's the only good thing to come from my cutting this summer...i proved to myself i could lose fat effectively i don't feel like i can. that's one of my main problems.

how about when you start to have a double chin? is that a bad sign or normal when bulking?

Joser how about when you start to have a double chin? is that a bad sign or normal when bulking? i know EXACTLY what you're talking about i started having that before i started cutting, but honestly i should have kept on bulking. its bitter-sweet being able to see all the lbm you've put on but also knowing there could've been a lot more.

Joser how about when you start to have a double chin? is that a bad sign or normal when bulking? well, you'll be gaining fat...just enjoy the food and the gains

when someone is bulking right about how much weight should they be gaining per week?

what I want to know is for how long should you bulk? Is 2 months a significant amount of time to bulk and then cut, or should you bulk for a longer/shorter period of time?

Werdna if you bulk correctly, you'll gain significant fat around the midsection. that's just how it is. the people on here who are "bulking" and not gaining fat aren't really bulking. keep eating shitloads of food and ignore your stomach for a couple of months. concentrate on getting stronger and bigger each and every week. eat everything in sight. funny you say that, coming from someone who eats dirty on a bulk... correlation? I don't care what anyone says, the people that stress these dirty ass bulks are always the one complaining of getting fat on their bulks. I argue this every time because it's true. my recommendation, eat clean and stick to low GI carbs.. it's basically a high calorie cut.

evi1eddie i know EXACTLY what you're talking about i started having that before i started cutting, but honestly i should have kept on bulking. its bitter-sweet being able to see all the lbm you've put on but also knowing there could've been a lot more. . i am bulking. i was 112 but i got up to 142 in 4-5 months. lately im trying to eat "cleaner" just to experiment. i still eat 6 meals a day. in the past 2-3 weeks but i lost 9 lbs . suprisingly i made gains. maybe noob gains but gains are gains. my question is, is there really such thing as clean bulking? because so far, it seems like ive been losing weight rather than gaining weight.

wutang banga what I want to know is for how long should you bulk? Is 2 months a significant amount of time to bulk and then cut, or should you bulk for a longer/shorter period of time? in general, 2 months is just getting your feet wet. if you've never bulked before then you probably don't have a significant amount of lean body mass to begin with, and will most likely want to bulk 12 months or more before you stop and evaluate if you're ready to cut. i was new and stupid so i only bulked for 6 months and now that i'm seeing what i'm cutting down to, i'm really starting to wish i went longer. for me its like christmas morning and i have a present in a huge box. but then i find out it was mostly just packaging and when i finally dig deep enough i find out it was just a pair of socks.

SteveO funny you say that, coming from someone who eats dirty on a bulk... correlation? I don't care what anyone says, the people that stress these dirty ass bulks are always the one complaining of getting fat on their bulks. I argue this every time because it's true. my recommendation, eat clean and stick to low GI carbs.. it's basically a high calorie cut. i saw that you posted your typical day of food in another thread. any idea how much you spent on food a week?

Joser . i am bulking. i was 112 but i got up to 142 in 4-5 months. lately im trying to eat "cleaner" just to experiment. i still eat 6 meals a day. in the past 2-3 weeks but i lost 9 lbs . suprisingly i made gains. maybe noob gains but gains are gains. my question is, is there really such thing as clean bulking? because so far, it seems like ive been losing weight rather than gaining weight. is there such a thing as clean bulking? depends on who you talk to. some say a calorie is a calorie and some say that macronutrients like saturated fat are more easily converted to body fat than other nutrition sources. but whether you're clean bulking or dirty bulking the most important thing is still your total calorie intake for the day. the difficulty most people find in clean bulking is that the food is generally lower in calories which means they have to eat more of it, which in itself is already difficult, but it also means that it's more expensive to get a certain amount of calories through clean foods than 'dirty' foods. it sounds like this is where your weight loss is coming from. even though you're eating the same amount of food, the food has less calories so you're going to need to eat a lot more of it to get over your maintenance calorie threshold. at your weight, you're going to want to eat at least 3,500 - 4,000 calories a day to gain weight, whether it be dirty calories or clean calories. www.fitday.com to check your caloric intake on your new diet.

christophers laugh it up, unlike everyone else on this board I am not the one getting fat on bulks.

disblohs i saw that you posted your typical day of food in another thread. any idea how much you spent on food a week? don't know, it's all bought in bulk.. I'd say around $70 every 2 weeks? not counting whey

christophers ps: i forget but havent you been in the 220 area for a long time now? yep surely have, actually for around 5 months now.. but 3 months of injury can hurt someone right?

Is this bogus???

Is this bogus???

Total: 2747 Basal: 1665 61% Lifestyle: 1082 39% Activities: 0 0% its from fitday...it says i've already burnt 2747 cals today?? I don't think thats very accurate at all. I usually only eat around 2K-2,500 cals a day...so i should always be in a defecit and skinny...but i'm not. I don't get it.

christophers??? anoyone???

christophers paying attention to what calculators tell you you are expending per day is pretty stupid, they will never be accurate Calculators can be a good start point, but are never the end all be all. The only way to determine what you burn in a day is to actually monitor your intake and your weight loss/gain.

christophers paying attention to what calculators tell you you are expending per day is pretty stupid, they will never be accurate so how can i calcualte how many calories i'm expending every day so that i can keep track of wether or not i'm in a deficit?

ACURA TL-S Calculators can be a good start point, but are never the end all be all. The only way to determine what you burn in a day is to actually monitor your intake and your weight loss/gain. ah, i see. welli guess i'll stick with my planed cals for a week and go from there.

christophers you eat the same amount of calories for a week or two and if theres no weight loss you are not in a deficit, thus you lower it. ok thanks for answering my stupid noob question

drinkdran0 anyone can help?? Read the stickies.

evi1eddie gonna be tough, and you might want to take a multi-vitamin weak, i've done a 1000 cal diet when I was 6'1" 215, ha, with no multivitamins, just flax seed oil.

evi1eddie gonna be tough, and you might want to take a multi-vitamin What'd you use to make those?

Bottom one is www.fitday.com don't know what the top one is.

the top one would be Microsoft Excel

ryazbeck weak, i've done a 1000 cal diet when I was 6'1" 215, ha, with no multivitamins, just flax seed oil. yeah but she's probably new at this. i had excel set for -2 lbs a week at first but i didn't think she would hang with 1100 cals a day.

drinkdran0 5'7'' 120 you seem too skinny as is. why are you trying to lose weight?

bump for the lurkers the excel spreadsheet is from the archives and i've posted the link 11ty times http://home.socal.rr.com/aznthug/Cal...Calculator.zip the calorie tracking site allows you to enter and save your own custom foods with the nutritional information. it's free to register. while cutting i don't eat anything unless it falls within my allowed calories and nutritional split. www.fitday.com put the two together and there's no excuse to be unable to lose or gain as much weight as you want.

create it yourself you fat lazy ass

ryazbeck weak, i've done a 1000 cal diet when I was 6'1" 215, ha, with no multivitamins, just flax seed oil. uh, you win?

DCCapen uhhh that calc says i ought to eat 2900 calories a day, yeah thats too much weight, and bulking or cutting?

evi1eddie weight, and bulking or cutting? It says I need 2800 to maintain at 150 lbs. no way.

AznRyda It says I need 2800 to maintain at 150 lbs. no way. sounds about right. i'm your height and at 150 i was eating 3500-4000 to bulk.

what is your target weight? are you lifting? do you look that bad? i've seen girls roughly your height and weight, and they never looked fat
