Hernia? Slipped disk?

Tearing a hamstring?

I hurt my back.

I'd say slipped disk or something.

cavefish Tearing a hamstring?

Take some animalpak vitamins...so you'll be able to rip some hamstrings, pop some disks and then finish your rep.

if you have bad form (most people do) then you may hurt your lower back.

ibdeath

what is the worst thing anything can happen in any situation? ------> anything! wtf?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

your intestines can shoot out your ass

Peal not making the lift, fucking pussy

Stiff leggs vs regular deadlifts?

Stiff leggs vs regular deadlifts?

Which one is better for the nube? How much should i start out with, I have no spot.

killerZees Which one is better for the nube? How much should i start out with, I have no spot. Why would you need a spot on either of those?

Make sure you get someone knowledgeable to show you good form. My lower back joints hurt like crazy until I realized my form was shitty.

both.. and wtfspot

So whats a good weight to start with?

killerZees So whats a good weight to start with? Start with the bar to get the form right.

sldl's twice a week. deads maybe twice every other month.

Its hard to get good form with just the bar though. He should start with a weight that feels somewhat heavy, but not too heavy. Something like half of what you think your 1 rep max might be. Erroring on the side of too light is better than too heavy of course, but I wouldn't use just teh bar for more very long

SickLife sldl's twice a week. . NO

tize why not? im doing them 3x a week I do them two times a week as well. I don't see why not.

i do sumo dead lifts... high weight low reps .. anyone got beef with doing those?

Hip Hippo I do them two times a week as well. I don't see why not. What is the purpose of doing them twice a week? Your legs are how big?

Neo22 What is the purpose of doing them twice a week? Your legs are how big? Well stiff leg deadlifts normally work my back more than my legs.

Hip Hippo Well stiff leg deadlifts normally work my back more than my legs. then your lower back is weak and/or your form is incorrect

Hip Hippo Well stiff leg deadlifts normally work my back more than my legs. YOu need to work on your form then. More then likely you arn't keeping your chest out with an arc in your back like you should.

SLDLs are a hamstring movement primarily

Neo22 YOu need to work on your form then. More then likely you arn't keeping your chest out with an arc in your back like you should. I guess I have been doing them wrong all along.

knees should be slighty bent too

What are some other good lower back exercises?

cbrpimp good mornings edit: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...odMorning.html Those are mainly for your hamstrings and glutes, I thought.

Hip Hippo Those are mainly for your hamstrings and glutes, I thought. is this a joke?

Hip Hippo Those are mainly for your hamstrings and glutes, I thought. no, the SLDLs worked my back alot when i first started doinng em, and they still work it some. Pullthroughs are another back exercise that are verry nice. AND WTF at only once per week...

SLDL's and DL's are two different movements. One is primarily for legs, other is primarily for [lower] back, so don't just do one, do both since they are working two different muscle groups. I do each once a week... or maybe SLDL's twice a week (one heavy, a few days later I lift lighter)

both, SLDL's on leg day, DL's every 2 weeks

Those of you that played sports in highschool and had to max out regularly on off season (baseball, football, rugby, track, etc...) how have your numbers changed since then? Have you improved or not? I know some people that actually get worse after highschool sports once they go to college or start working and some get better. I played football and rugby. numbers are as follows: Senior Year: Bench = 325 Squat = 425 Deadlift = 505 200lbs/5' 7" Now (ending freshman year of college) 1 year later: Bench = 405 Squat = No longer max on squat Deadlift = 550 210lbs/5' 10"

either show pics or nobody cares

I don't place much stock in high school numbers because most people do them with absolutely horrible form and the coaches don't seem to give a shit. But I'll play along: Senior Year, about halfway through (never maxed after that really then I got hurt) Bench: 275 Squat: 435 Dead: I didn't dead until late that year on my own but the first time ever I worked up to 355 before I started losing grip. I was 6'1 240 during the season which is when I did all this. Now:Bench: 365 Squat: I don't go heavy because of groin/hamstring injuries Dead: 525 but I havn't maxed in forever

Socrates either show pics or nobody cares How are pictures of me doing the weight relavent? eh, if you guys dont believe my numbers, thats cool... I will live. I was more interested in other peoples results anyways.

5'8 162lbs in HS and now I'm back down to that weight Totals: 605 Now: 855

HS: Bench 155 Squat: awfull, i did nto go low enough 265 would be a guess DL: i did not know what a DL was Now bench: 275 DL: 405 Squat 345X3 low box

I'm a sophmore in HS right now. We max tommorrow... O noes IbshittyformnocareHScoaches....

tize ur one of the strongest people here 8) chris's bench sucks he's doing like 435 unequipped, how does that suck?

Best Hamstring Workout (Stretch Exercise)

Best Hamstring Workout (Stretch Exercise)

Stretch them within proper ROM (range-of-motion) - there's no need to stretch them beyond 90 degrees unless you're going into gymnastics or joining Circle de Soleil (or becoming a Yoga instructor).
  • Three stretches for the hamstrings:
  • Lying down and stretching one leg at a time:
  • By yourself you can do this with a mini band around one foot
  • With a partner they can stretch it out - I like to put my shin over the other leg so their contralateral hip doesn't come off of the ground
  • You can even use a door for resistance
  • Another stretch is using a chair and hip hinging while having one or both hands under the hamstring. Don't make the mistake of curving the spine - keep it neutral
  • Lastly, you can stretch them by hip hinging and stretching downwards. But, the caveat being DO NOT ROUND THE BACK. Back should be neutral and horizontal to the floor
  • They get strengthened from deadlifts - please do not engage in Roman Deadlifts as they put pressure on the spine and flex the lumbar muscles.
  • Hamstrings get trained during the squats as well
