What is the best thing to eat in this scenario?


So you have just woken up, and you NEED to hit the gym right now, since it closes in two hours. You havn't eaten or drank anything since waking up. Do you go to the gym on an empty stomach? or eat some fruit? or some bread? or some protein?

rye bread & raspberry jam & down 30g of liquid protein or so.

dextrose + sucrose + free-form AA's (or whey)

if you are trying to lose weight/fat, then just go.. but make sure you drink water! but if you are trying to bulk up or maintain, then i would drink some protien drink, or eat a fruit..

ANIMALPAK VITAMINS. Thats all you need.

Get some carbs and some protein.

Ceaze dextrose + sucrose + free-form AA's (or whey)

what are you trying to do at the gym? heavy lifting, cardio(for how long), or yoga(empty stomach for sure),.. depends what you are gonna do.

I started this new job about 3 months ago and just tried to keep a quiet cool attitude and not really discuss my outside interests too much because I really am more of a quiet person... anyways...the pregnant woman openly asked me about diet tips and exercises she can do to help with her pregnancy and weight gain. So...there were 6 girls around when they heard this..and the one girl asked me if I was a PT or certified or something. I said just "no" and the other girl stood up and said I am a bodybuilder. So thats all they needed to hear when they came around and started firing off all types of questions about weight loss and even weight gain. So I'm just spinning my head about all this and don't know who's talking about what. so shit I told them if they wanted 'personal attention' to talk to me later about it too bad I don't run this as a business...I'd clean up

its a small office too...there are a few that I'd off the "personal" service too "lets work that fat off honey"

christophers i play PT for a lot of people and dont ask anything for it. for some reason i just like helping people. although i get stuff for it all the tme, including money. i'm not going to say no. 4 tubs of muscle milk + 150$ came today from someone i helped lose 25 lb's and get to 8% i actually woulda rather just had cash instead of that muscle milk but oh well thats rather generous. Most of the time my advice isn't taken...so they keep comin back. they don't want to hear dieting isn't easy and they actually have to work at it for a while before they see results. I don't mind. I like talking about it and helping them. THey aren't hurting me any by not listening so whatever

It seems like so many people are using stuff now days. I never took anything, not even creatine. I dunno, I guess Id rather get there without using anything ya know? Im sure there are a ton of people out there who DONT use anything, it just seems like most are, ya know?

a lot of people are all natural, a lot of people juice.... either way their results are more directly correlated with their motivation and knowledge so i dont see what the big deal is

im guessing youve never used protein either and you weigh 140

If it doesn't change hormonal levels to unhuman levels then it is natural to me and on that note, I am all natural.

Widow you are naturally big which is cool for you. A lot of people are naturally very skinny or small so its much harder to get as big as someone who has better phsycial genetics. My brother and I are opposites. We come from the same parents except he got certain traits that I didnt. He is taller, and can build muscle mass extremely quickly. He sees almost double the gains I see on the same workout programs. I have a runners body while he has a bulkers/bodylifter body. For me to see the same gains he gets I need to take in more protein and stuff like that. Also my metabolism is insane which means its very hard for me to keep any fat or weight gain while him on the other hand will keep all of his weight gain. If your body was of different gentics you would understand why people take supplements.

Dumb question

Dumb question


I recently started a new job and I dont have access to a fridge/cooking equipment. Its bag and box lunches all the way. Since I dont feel like eating cold chicken all the time I was considering makeing my diet staple eggs. Is this a good or bad idea? Lets say I eat 5 hard boiled eggs for lunch everyday whats the calories going to look like? I already eat 5 for breakfast with a slice of toast. I looked on my egg cartons and there is no dietary info so any help would be great. I am thinking of just makeing it a nice dozen eggs that I eat everyday. IE 6 for breakfast w toast, 6 for lunch, baked chicken/tuna/salad something like that for dinner. CLIFFS : how many calories are in a egg with yolk, and without yolk if at all possible.

I did a quick google and found this does it appear accurate to all you f&ners? Egg White 17 calories Egg Yolk 59 calories Fried Egg 92 calories Hard-Boiled Egg 76 calories Poached Egg 76 calories Scrambled Egg 100 calories (includes addition of milk in recipe)

OT: how many workers? dunno there but here if the company has over 10 workers they need to supply a good eating/heating/fridge room, maybe you all should ask for at least a fridge and a microwave. Even hard boiled eggs can go bad after 6 hours on 100 degree weather. I think you should rotate them with another 5-6 different meals, cold sandwiches, cold salads or take in consideration not carrying your own food but eating in a nearby restaurant/dinner.... edit: 5 dozens per week is still too much

A friend just told me that your stomach can only handle like 25g of whey protein in half an hour, so anything more just gets turned into fatty acid. Trying to figure out if this is true.

yes its doing me good i mean... i broke my collar bone about a year and a half ago... and i just started lifting like 3 months ago... started at 115 repping and now i'm repping at 185... newb gains i know... but i struggled with 115... and whenever i work out i notice that if i take protein the day before i can do more reps... maybe its a mental thing as well too... depends how motivated you are as well. but i mean i take protein shakes 3 times a day at 46 grams a shake.

christophers bottom line: nobody really knows how much protein the body can actually utilize in a setting. there is no realistic way to find this out and there has been no documented studies looking at such. it just hasn't been done, and even if it was done it's likely going to vary too much person to person and depend on too many things.. activity, calorie levels, time of ingestion, eg after workout, breakfast, anytime of day, blah blah. also.. size of person, lean body weight, total body mass, etc the type of protein is going to have nothing to do with it. protein is protein, all thats different between whey and a piece of chicken is the fact that whey hits the blood stream faster. that's all. Eat every fucking thing in site, make sure to do squats and deadlifts, read the noob faq. I've gained 6 pounds in the last 5 days Most of it I'll shit out soon though

i have HIGH ass metabolism, and i don't want to eat shitty, so i guess i want to know what kind of diet i should be looking for when i do eat. because of work, i have an unstable eating schedule which i know i have to make more regular, but even still, my weight will only fluctuate +/- 3lbs usually

Dianabol is used to jump start most cycles for the fact it kicks in very fast. Stength gains are awesome, weight gain is expected, yes there will be some water retention, but if you know what you're doing, there shouldn't be much.

What are the advantages of clean bulking?


I read through a bunch of the noob thread and it doesnt spell it out, but it seems that it helps you gain more LBM weight, and overall gives you better nutrition. Is that about right? What are everyone's experiences clean bulking vs. dirty bulking? Sorry if this is a repost, I can't search.

Clean bulk = Less work when cutting.

I know what they are, I'd like to know what the relative advantages/disadvantages are of each.

why would progress be slowero n clean foods? doesn't it just boil down to # of cals?

A lot of people think it doesn't make a difference. How much of the excess weight goes to lean body mass and how much goes to fat is mostly determined by genetics. 80%. Its your P-ratio.

food is all comprised of the same chemicals, 'clean' foods are not some magical form of chemicals that adds muscle without fat. The greater the carloric surplus the greater the fat gain, but also the greater the muscle gain. Its just going to be easier going far over the caloric maintenance level on 'dirty' foods. If you counted calories on a dirty bulk and a clean bulk and ate the same level of calories, I'm quite confident the fat gains would be relatively unnoticable

clean bulking will result in either really slow/no gains. if you seriously want to put on mass and get stronger, just eat balls to the wall. enjoy yourself too, eat fries and hamburgers and pie and shit. that makes the subsequent cutting a lot easier.

Sweet, I think dirty bulking is the way to go for myself personally. I think I am just going to eat pretty much normally but just add in stuff like chocolate bars, burgers, more pop, pizza. Want to add 10 pounds by July. Edit: I assume you just mean it makes the cutting easier because you'll have only been on strict diet for 6 months instead of 12...I'm hoping it'll make cutting easier because I won't be gaining a bigger appetite, but rather just an addiction to sugar, therefore I'll get cravings but not hunger pains when I cut.

and i agree with Pur, i think the clean bulking route is for people who are already fairly big and just want to maintain their lean physique while adding muscle and strength slowly. but for the vast majority of people here, i think "dirty" bulking is the way to go and it's not as if you eat nothing but saturated fat...i still ate oatmeal all the time, plenty of omega3's etc.

I think I will be doing a hybrid of clean/dirty bulking as I want to keep a steady ratio of fat and muscle. Here is the kicker, I bet I could do it fast. For instance, me, who is currently doing 2200 calories, will be going to a 5000 calorie diet to do it crazy fast. The way that I would do it is with steel cut oats, protein powder, dextrose/other sugars, egg whites, tuna, fish oil/flax seed oil pills, no fruits, daily vitamins to make sure I got all of my stuff, cassein protein, skim milk instead of water on steel cut oats and a good 5 litres of water a day. You see, all you have to do is know some shit about insulin and how to use the bodie's most anabolic hormone. By adding dextrose to every meal, you make sure that your food is "absorbed faster". Holy shit I can't wait till I start my bulking phase.. sugar... that is one of the problems though, you get cravings.

christophers ya, its up to you. however the person who gains mroe muscle/fat will pretty much always be the one to progress faster, especially if he lose fat fast ala werdna or the kid in our gym. also due to: more weight gain -> more strength -> more strength = more microtrauma = more muscle again, its individual.. but most people simply cannot think long term. its all short term. thats the biggest fault i see daily. shit I think my bodyfat varies with what I've eaten in the last 2 hours. no joke.

I pretty much eat as much as possible. thats one thing i learned from OT FN when it comes to bulking. 6:30 am, morning - eggs, bacon, toast, 2scoop nitrotech, 2pill thermo gain 1:00 pm, lunch- burgers or fish or well portioned frozen dinner, 2scoop nitrotech, 2pill thermo gain 5:00 pm, dinner- mostly alot of my momma's home cook'n (what ever it may be, just not fried). 8:00 pm, evening- burgers or well portioned frozen dinner 10:30 pm- sleep (during week) as i type this im eating a chicken pot pie

again I didn't get anyone pregnant. A woman I work with wants to knwo what she can do going into her 3rd trimester. She has been walking 3 miles a say, but wants to know what else she can do. any suggestions?

In the military pregnancy fitness programs they start to gravitate more towards water aerobics in the 3rd trimester. Pregnant women should exercise, just not with a lot of intensity. OB/GYN should recommend a fitness program.

Hello, I am 17 years old. My height is 5'6 and I am 154 pounds. I have been training for about 4-5 months on and off. I want to lose weight and then gain a decent physique. I have been using the routine below since I started off. My diet is all over the place, not controlled - I would like some information on that too. I am taking no supplements what so ever at the moment.

Day 1 - Back and Bi's :-

- Deadlift 3 x 10
- T-Bar Row - 3 sets - 10, 8 , 6
- Seated Row - 3 sets - 10,8,6
- Dumbbell Curls - 3 sets - 12,10,8

Day 2 - Rest

Day 3 - Chest and Tri's :-

- Bench Press - 3 x 10
- Incline - 3 sets - 10,8,6
- Dumbbell Fly's - 3 sets - 10,8,6
- Tricep Pushdown - 3 sets - 15,10,6

Day 4 - Rest

Day 5 - Legs and Shoulders :-

- Squats - 3 sets - 12,10,8
- Leg Press - 3 sets - 10,8,6
- Calf Raise - 3 sets - 20, 10, 6
- Arnie Presses - 3 sets - 12,10,8

Day 6/7 - N/A

Does that seem alright? I would also like to know if taking Creatine is good or not because I am considering that. And also, what food is good to eat and what should I avoid eating?

Your workout plan seems very decent, what I would do if I were you, on those days you have marked as Rest. Replace them with 45 minute cardio workouts, such as jogging, bicycle, jump rope, or if you dont feel like doing this, you can try performing the hardest Cardio workout of them all (Gorilla Cardio aka Hiit). This is a 15 minute intense cardio workout, if you want to know more PM me and I will explain what it is.

As far as your diet, you should try to eat less fat and fat calories, body builders eat 5 times a day, small meals but protein rich. All your meals should consist of 40% protein, 30% Fat, and 30% carbohydrates. The meals should me small in size and you should eat 5 times a day, up to 2 1/2 hours between meals.

As far as creatine goes, I would wait until you are 18 years of age before using it. Remember creatine does not help everyone, there as many people who use it and see no benefit from it, but there are those who do use it and see results. Creatine helps in ATP production which then helps increase muscle strength as well as mass. But remember using creatine will cause muscles to use water from the body, I read a few articles saying that using extensive creatine will in the long run cause you to lose fluid in the spinal cord and then you end up taking vaccines once your like 50. I read this, some say its a myth but I dont know. Personally I stay away from creatine, I just find it useless, but to you it might help. Again wait until your 18, thats my recommendation.

To gain a nice looking body were ur muscles are defined u need to start cardio, you cant just work out your muscles and expect them to stand out since fat will cover them. You will then just look like a really muscular chubby guy. SO in order to get into shape and look good, having all muscles defined your body fat needs to be at least between 6-8%.

I recommend you make a diet plan for urself, cut out fried foods, bad fat (fat from animals), fast food, and eat more veggies, fruits, protein bars, and protein rich foods. Switch from white bread to whole wheat.

Also get a protein supplement, you body once it has been worked out needs protein to rebuild the ripped muscle, if you are not supplying your body with protein you are just hurting yourself and not accomplishing much. I recommend getting Optimum Nutrition 100% Golden Whey protein, its one of the best with very low calories, and sugar.
