Would OT F&N be interested in starting our own Gripper certification?

Would OT F&N be interested in starting our own Gripper certification?

a la, Gripboard or Grippermania? Were we get a few grippers made of diferent strenghts and mail them to each other in some ordered fashion. Keep the gripper for a week mail it to the next person or to the home location (me ) if there is no one in waiting. Closers get fancy paper certificate and those who close the 2 hardest grippers get a free t-shirt with a logo and OT grip slogan. There would need to be a significant amount of interest though to help pay for the grippers.

hmmm...let me test my crunker first and if all goes well I'll paticipate

i'd be in if i had paypal

jonno i'd be in if i had paypal I take money order too.... I dont know the over all cost, this idea hit me while in the middle of a logic quiz today at school. But I was thinking Robert Baraban grippers found here http://www.handgripper.net/neu/www/index.php, just the basic aluminum ones but with a costom logo its an extra 30$ each. So it would be ~50 per gripper + shipping. Part of the production cost will be in the "cert" fee something like 5$-10$ per person which would cover the actual grippers, paper certificates and tshirts for the 210 and 240 closers. I was thinking of using the 160, 180, 210, 240 lbs grippers so you would have to be able to close a COC1 to really give the 160 a chance. But I wouldn't make any sort of qualifying just to try it. If this took off and in the future a 260 have to be made we could do that.

Sounds like a good idea, but you are going to have to pool a lot of money to get it started. There will probably be a huge demand for the easier grippers because a lot of people here have never touched a gripper before. So you'd have to probably stock up on the easier ones. And it'll screw up the whole line of things if some faggot never returns a gripper.

And it'll screw up the whole line of things if some faggot never returns a gripper. Well i would be willing to eat a little money at frist to get the whole thing started. those who wished to donate early would get their cert fee wavied. But the idea is that only one of each strenght gripper exists so that we are all comparing our strenght on the same one. As for some offical rules I like the grippermania ones. The gripper MUST be mailed Priority Mail with a delivery conformation number and insured for $100.00. You must also PM the tracking number to the person who you mailed it to and myself. If the grippers are lost and we cannot track them or get reimbursed because you did not follow these rules you will be held accountable for buying a replacement gripper. To receive the gripper you pay a cert fee of $10.00. This covers priority mail, tracking of delivery, and insurance of $100.00. <XXXXXpaypal addressXXX> Please note in the comments that it is Gripper fee. You will then be responsible for shipping the gripper back as it was shipped to you. Please note*** do not require signature for delivery just a tracking number When you pay the cert fee that covers the shipping to you and a certificate that I am working on having made. You are responsible however for shipping it back to me or the next person at your expense following the shipping rules.

superbri007 what a pain IDB fucking naysayer

you do realize that there are lot of canadian members, and shipping from canada to the US or the other way around is going to cost as much as a gripper right? We'd need at least one set for canada too.

im confused but im in

Sounds like fun, once I graduate from school in June and get a decent job making some decent money.

a friend of mine has the 240 and closes it 6 times...but he has huge ass hands...so I'm not sure if I'll be able to close that crunker...I'll certainly give her a shot tho...shit I tried the 360 and it didn't budge

even if i was interested, customs would kill the idea for anybody in Canuckia

woah, this sounds like a pretty good idea. what weights are the grippers going to be

brolli what weights are the grippers going to be Grouch But I was thinking Robert Baraban grippers found here http://www.handgripper.net/neu/www/index.php, just the basic aluminum ones but with a costom logo its an extra 30$ each. Grouch They will just have to pay more for shipping. its not that much more...its like 25-50 cents more I ship to Canada all the time

I guess that's a negative ghostrider.

WTF Acupuncture...

WTF Acupuncture...

Whats up. Well, heres the story. Last week I tried to do box squatting, and I will still trying to get comfortable with it. After doing it with low weight, I put on 315, as that is my usual first set (after warming up a bit with 225) I come down tap the seat, and go up...next rep, i come down a bit too fast and end up sitting on the box, but i can't get it back up. So I rest for a moment, and end up straining myself and trying to adjust my footing to get a better position to stand up with the weight. I get it up. However, I end up feeling this sharp pain around my mid-lower back around the spine. CRAPP. my first squatting injury. Whatever, I made the mistake of doing another few sets with lighter weight. After I woke up, my back was killing me. Sharp pains whenever I moved the wrong way...I decided to take it easy for the next few days and not do anything that strains my back. So it was a week since the incident, last night. I was eager to try squatting again. Warmed up 225, no problem. put on 315, got it off the rack no problem, got ready to go down, and suddenly i felt a tiny shift in that same spot on my spine. Hurt like a betch. Racked the BB, and got off. Ended up doing Bench/Shoulder/Tri last night. Woke up, I could barely get out of bed. Didn't go to school, and I'm stranded at home. Now, my mom wants to take me to get acupuncture. WTF, I never believed in that oriental medicine crap. Acupuncture is supposed to release Chi? Uh, Chi only reminds me of Naruto and chakra or something. I dunno, I think they're going to put needles in my back and draw some blood. My mom got it done to her shoulder last week and she said it helped. BS. I would rather get x-rays done to make sure everything is okay. Either that, or I could wait another two weeks to make sure it heals up . I know I made some bad decisions in trying to put up that much weight with box squats initialy, and trying to squat again after a week of injury. But thats besides the point. What do you guys think of acupuncture? Is it legit? Does it work? I find it hard to believe that a few pokes with some long needles will help my spine heal. Also, do you guys have any other suggestions or comments? I'm ready for flames for my stupidity, thats understood. Any serious comments would help. ___________________________________________ Cliffs:Hurt my back/spine doing box squat a week ago, tried again last night, hurt it in the same spot. Now my mom is going to take me to get acupuncture. I dont believe in it. Thoughts? ____________________________________________ Plus, i frickin HATE needles. Some kinda mild phobia I guess.

Acupuncture basically made all my knee pain go away....the needles really aren't bad at all, they aren't thick like drug needles. Go for it...

dont be afraid of the needles. u wont feel a thing and u probably wont see them either if its on ur back so that shouldn't be a concern. its worth a shot i say. but your best bet to heal is probably just resting for a few weeks. i doubt an xray shows anything abnormal but get one of those two if you've got insurance just to be sure.

superbri007 I just got it today, and I love it, its relaxing. The best part about it is just laying there for 20 mins in a silent room stairing at the ceiling. The needles don't hurt really, unless they put it in a little too far geez. in 9th grade i had to get my immunizations for highschool and football. i nearly passed out after 2 shots...and this was after trying to pretend like i was all cool about it. at least i'm not diabetic like my aunt who takes 7 shots of insulin a day.

superbri007 dude, give it 2 weeks, rest yourself, stretch out, don't lift anything heavy, get some accupuncture, but also get chiropractic re-alignment first!. I go every monday for 10-30 mins or so. get my back aligned, then get accupuncture for sinus's and wherever I'm getting spasms from lifting, etc. wtf realignment? i hope nothing is out of place.

Go to the doctor.

~stangzorized~ Go to the doctor. i don't like the doctor. my mom said we'll get acupuncture, and if its still bad after a few days, we'll get x-ray's done.

superbri007 then just don't look at the needles, and the likelihood of you passing out while lying on yoru stomach or back is 0 to none lol. try it out man, its really cool, and doesn't hurt a bit! the needles are so tiny you don't feel them really haha i was kinda exaggerating about my fear of needles. i'm not scared, i just dont wanna waste my time putting needles in my back when i dont know if it'll do anything. but the 9th grade thing is a true story.

superbri007 today I had 14 needles in, one in between each thumb and pointer finger, 1 on each ear lobe, one on my scalp, two above my upper lip, about 4 around my left shoulder, one on my right shoulder area and some down my forearm dude, what did you do? get in a train wreck? or did purevl drop his deadlift on your face?

superbri007 purevl dropped something else on my face he's into scat and I wasn't aware anyways: acupuncture is awesome. my dad used to do it. it works.

superbri007 your German, aren't you guys into the whole shitting on peoples face thing? nah man. you guys buy them videos

superbri007 or download and share them with OT send me some more music biatch!!! I need more Rammstein for my new mp3 player im gettin in a week or so waddya want? i have Mutter as well as a best of here...

Rammstein - Ich Will (live)

i'm currently upping something else plus i wanna upload the Kung-Fu Hustle over night (10 Pm right now over here)...Rammstein will probably have to wait a bit

you did see the mp3 link in this thread though i hope?! also: you need to get rid of that stupid fuckin avatar mang

superbri007 as in " I'm a n00bert and didn't see the link..." or " I'm a broke bitch and can't afford another sub!" IBboth

go to the acupunture treatment. i like it and i believe in it. many many reasons..

Came back from it not too long ago. All he did was ask me what happened, and before i finished explaining he said "okay, get on the bed" (in korean) he started poking the general area with his fingers, made a fist and pushed extremely hard. f'in hurt. he's like "okay, its a dam" meaning a stress cramp? so he gets this pen like jig, and starts poking holes in my back...and doesn't stop. it must've been literally 100 holes. then he puts these glass cups on my back and uses this manual vacuum to pump out the air. so after waiting 10 minutes, he comes back and releases the cups and wipes away all the blood, which felt like it was a lot. result? i don't really feel any better. he says it will after a day or two, and he wants me to come back tomorrow. looks really ugly too. (you're not seeing things, my right lat is bigger than my left lat. )

I don't think you should ever sit back down on the box if you can't get it up. Just drop the weight if you're forced to sit back down. I think I even remember christophers saying this.

b-stevens I don't think you should ever sit back down on the box if you can't get it up. Just drop the weight if you're forced to sit back down. I think I even remember christophers saying this. now that would've been greater advice a week ago.

superbri007 i've never seen that approach, i'll ask my chiro. you sure your guy didn't get his Accupuncture certification from a crack jack box? nonetheless, cool, you need to go back for a followup too followup? dam. he's supposedly famous among northern virginian koreans for really helping them out. my mom got the same thing done last week b/c her shoulder was killing her...she says she feels fine now.

You could tell your friends your girlfriend has some suckin skills. Hm..hickeys?

ACE certification

ACE certification

my gym is offering a ACE certification program and i was wondering is it worth it to take it? its a 12 week program and they help you study for the test.

probably the lamest certification available

im thinkin about doin it, dont think it could be that hard and maybe a job on the side.

For your information, when trying to get hired at a gym, most gyms could give a fuck if your "huge" or not, ACE is ok if your just tryin to get a PT job at a fitness or yuppie gym, its accepted by most major gyms i believe, 24hr, ballys, golds etc. Look into NASM, its a bit harder than ACE and is probably the MOST well known out of all certs.

but they dont offer that anywhere around here all they offer is ACE.

Erik_sr20 I wouldnt bother? Most ppl that want a personal trainer I dont think give a shit what certs they have, so long as they look huge right. Most of the personal trainers are skinny little girly guys that don't know a damn thing about lifting. Getting a girl more toned by doing 39484 reps of no weight

you need a 4 year+ degree to be anything in the athletic training field

well, that is where connections/networking comes in play

I'd look for a better one if you were wanting to actually learn something from this. Poloquin's certification actually looked pretty interesting/good. Though his costs like 2k.
