How to kick higher?

How to kick higher?

How does someone train their legs to kick much higher? I am assuming just stretching your legs out and practicing kicking would do it?

Thats one way to do it...alot of it has to do with your hips being too tight. For example if you can do the splits you'll have an easier time kicking high. Dynamic stretching helps a bit as well, but relaxed and other kinds of stretching are just as important.

All about the flexibility.

relaxed stretching first, then with tension. do both kinds of splits (side and middle). do stretch up kicks to loosen the hamstrings. practice your kicks about a million times. I dunno if this attatchment will work right, I just came back to the board, but this is me at about 19.

I dunno if this attatchment will work right, I just came back to the board, but this is me at about 19. That is really impressive. If I want to kick higher, should I do those stretches everyday? Or can I overexert them?

I dunno I developed the ability over about a year's time. Your body should tell you how much pushing yourself is OK. Don't let yourself get comfortable until you are at your desired amount of stretch, but let yourself reach that point gradually; don't force it. If you work for it, it'll come.

I have trained in several martial arts for quite sometime and I always found that easiest way to improve your kicking height is simply practice kicks, and stretch. Stretch not only your legs, but also your groin, hips, glutes, and sides of abs. A combination of both intensive stretches and a lot of kicking practice will get you there.

stretching is one thing, flexibility is another. So yeah, you've gotta be pretty flexible.

Socrates How does someone train their legs to kick much higher? I am assuming just stretching your legs out and practicing kicking would do it? are you in martial arts or sumpin(serious, not trying to be a dick). cuz if you wanna become an all around better fighter, there is a very slim chance that in a real world fight you will get the chance to kick someone in the face if thats what you are after. if you are lifting at the same time that can be deleterious to your flexability goals. ive lost about 20% of my flexability in the last few weeks

incubimmer deleterious ,., ohh, fancy word...i like that one

I grew up wrestling with my older brother, then wrestled in high school a bit. Took some boxing lessons at a gym for a few months, but gave it up pretty quick. I joined up with a MMA training gym (Springfield Fight Club) a couple months back and have been into it ever since. Going to jail for fighting directly after turning 17 got old REAL fast, and I have always been pretty addicted to fighting sports. I'm going to work on getting my martial arts belts through the military (easy to do at the Reserve Center here), and was going to continue training at the MMA gym and hopefully get set up with some good fights. A few of the guys travel around and fight, so I think it will be good teaching. The reason I want to get better at kicking now is because my friends set me up fights with guys from other towns or other guys for $50 a fight, and I can't get over the adrenaline rush from the fight. My kicks are weak, and when I kick someone in the head, it usually isn't very powerful. I figure I shouldn't do too much leg weight training.

Leo95SE hes right. posts 3 and 7. practice and flexibility. Dang you seriously knew what was going on there.

As long as you continue to train your flexibility separately, leg weight training is fine, how do you expect to kick hard with weak legs? look at cro cop, he ktfo'd so many people with his tree trunk legs... you gotta weight train, just continue to practice your high kicks too!

I'll make sure to do that then!

How often/ what kind of stretching do you do? Flexibility isn't set in stone, you can change it. There are shitloads of exercises you can do to increase flexibility, especially for legs...your #1 problem is probably your hips being too tight. How far can you go down into the splits? Being able to do the splits isn't necessary for good kicking but it will make it easier.

I should make a pictoral stretch guide

funny you should mention that http://tinyurl.com/cx2s6 http://tinyurl.com/dz4tg

do stretch marks ever go away?

do stretch marks ever go away?

or are they there permanently?

they fade over time but i don't think they ever really go away 100%

jonno they fade over time but i don't think they ever really go away 100%

i just started getting them on the inside of my bi's...i dont even wear tanktops anymore its so embarassing.

I just tell people that I was attacked by a mountain lion as a kid.

they keep getting bigger on my bis and now they are going on to the top of my pecs. it means i am getting bigger at least!

Ive had them where my bi meets my pectoral for 6 years. They faded but you can still easily see them.

nellystyles i just started getting them on the inside of my bi's...i dont even wear tanktops anymore its so embarassing. i don't think i'm embarassed that i have them, since it shows how much i've lost in the span of my workouts. it's a nuisance to look in the mirror from my point of view. no one who has seen me in the buff has made any degrading remarks but it's just annoying for me to look at.

iwishiwascool Ive had them where my bi meets my pectoral for 6 years. They faded but you can still easily see them. same for me, but add to that my lower end sides.

Mine were from getting bigger very rapidly in highschool.

nellystyles i just started getting them on the inside of my bi's...i dont even wear tanktops anymore its so embarassing. I have them too, i use cocoa butter every other day or so b4 i go to bed and they FADE. Won't go away. I still wear tanktops daily and am not worried about it. Battle scars

PNHWrestler I have them too, i use cocoa butter every other day or so b4 i go to bed and they FADE. Won't go away. I still wear tanktops daily and am not worried about it. Battle scars i just started using the cocoa, they're fading pretty good as of a week or so. I have the ones like everyone says too by your pec/armpit, looks like i was stabbed

tan them suckers away!

when I grew in weight I got them on my sides. but now they're gone. it takes a couple years. some kind of silicone gel or cream helps speed that up

mine have faded to a silvery color (not very different than my skin tone, I'm ghostly) but they've never gone away, nor will they.

If you use Cocoa Butter on yer skin, it helps, one the marks that is. Yeah, also tan...I was telling myself after I bulk up again gonna get a tanning subscription to tan dem away! LoL, I have some on my stomach when I used to be fat =/

White If you use Cocoa Butter on yer skin, it helps, one the marks that is. Yeah, also tan...I was telling myself after I bulk up again gonna get a tanning subscription to tan dem away! LoL, I have some on my stomach when I used to be fat =/ Yah the cocoa works well. I'm also fairly confident there is a prescription drug that helps. Its meant to reduce scaring, its worth asking your doc about next check up.

mederma every other day and cocoa butter on the off days, it works wonders but no they never completely go away

dont they have those lotion that take away stretch marks?

Joser dont they have those lotion that take away stretch marks? if you're referring to surgery, yes

Joser dont they have those lotion that take away stretch marks? my mom uses the stuff and swears it works.. i doubt it does. and i'm not going to ask my mom to see her thighs

Ilyusha I just tell people that I was attacked by a mountain lion as a kid. a good story that would make

I've have them from working out my chest, right between my shoulders and my Pecs. I noticed them when I was 16 and they just kept getting bigger as I kept working out, five years later there starting to fade, but still noticeable. I heard Mederma works good on stretch marks, but it's expensive and you have to use it 3-4 times a day for 8-12 weeks.

if yours went away, you obviously dont have the stretch marks we are talking about... Mine were so large at one point that they ripped open a bit. Now in that area the skin feels very thin, as if the lower layers arent really there.

crazy, I have like zero stretch marks. maybe certain skin types are more prone.

do stretch marks ever go away?

Sciatic Pain stops me from working out. help

Sciatic Pain stops me from working out. help

About two years ago I was diagnosed with sciatica. Well since then everytime I start up a new workout routine i'll get into it for about 2 weeks and bam it hits me. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this? I usually get a sharp pain down my left rear and it freakin hurts for like four days. I stretch every morning as I was taught in rehab. I can't figure it out. help

i have it as well, sleep with a pillow between your legs. it will work amazing.

also, do reverse hypers. if your gym doesn't have a machine, either find a gym that does or improvise and do them on the regular hyperextension bench facing the oppossite direction. reverse hypers are one of the main reasons i am even able to go to the gym anymore after my herniated disk a few years ago that had me basically crippled for a long time.

One of the best workouts I've ever tried

One of the best workouts I've ever tried

I just started Bas Rutten's Mixed Martial Arts work out and it is amazing. I want my workouts to be a challenge everytime, and this one is. When watching the instructional DVD it didn't seem like it would kill me as much as it did. I suggest you all check it out, www.basrutten.tv

I've come close to buying many times, I already have a fairly structured workout so maybe when I make some changes. I've heard only great reviews from it

You too huh? I uh "purchased" it myself and it kicks my ass. Even the 2 minute rounds are killing me, and I'm only doing the boxing/thai boxing routines at this point. The all around fighting workout is HARDCORE.

I'm getting seriously tired of your bullshit, cut it out or I will definitely fuck you up.

I get to have a 2 time iranian pancrase champion /former olympic wrestler yell at me during conditioning- at least in the rutten tapes you can cheat and take a rest

they make you do pretty hard stuff for martial arts. this week just to warm up it was holding a med ball over your head and then hopping in a squat about 60ft. everyone was dead by 30ft and we've done this lots of times before

cavefish I'm getting seriously tired of your bullshit, cut it out or I will definitely fuck you up. thats great

Aluyminyum they make you do pretty hard stuff for martial arts. this week just to warm up it was holding a med ball over your head and then hopping in a squat about 60ft. everyone was dead by 30ft and we've done this lots of times before todays training: warm up/stretch/etc. 14 rounds- 3 minutes each, 15 seconds in between Rounds 1-2 = shadow boxing Rounds 3-6 = bag work Rounds 7-10 = pad work Round 11 = sprints w/stepping Round 12 = sprints w/shuffleing Round 13 = jump rope w/knee ups Round 14 = Jump rope w/single leg (5 on each leg) Then 45 minute non-stop "road work" consisting of: Jogging, reverse jogging, sprinting, shuffle in/outward, sidestep in/outward, bear crawls, crab walks, toe ins, toe outs, hops (feet together), zig-zag inward/outward all around the room, never stopping - clockwise then counter clockwise... then jog to the center and 15 more minutes of: Front/back, side to side, switch hips, quick steps, dive bombers, mountain climbers, hops (in place). My legs hurt

cavefish You too huh? I uh "purchased" it myself E. link?

joy division todays training: My legs hurt you should start a training log http://forums.offtopic.com/forumdisp...ysprune=&f=147

velamint you should start a training log http://forums.offtopic.com/forumdisp...ysprune=&f=147 Kind of impossible to recreate it in a thread on account of our trainer tells us when to do things, its always timed...also alot of the lifts/movements require proper form that you don't want to attempt without being shown but... for example the strength training day is all oly lifts with special weights (one handed); snatch/press/cleans/etc. etc....then there are things like slaloms and turkish getups which have multiple steps to them and are really hard to explain.

I wish there was an mma gym around here...although when I'm not injured any more I'd like to start taking bjj and boxing

yeah I've never seen any place that was so serious about conditioning. Classes are at least 3 hours long, 3 times a week. It takes lots of dedication

joy division Damn! That's a pretty serious routine. How long have you been training? I'm just now making the switch from boxing to MMA.

thats intense. 3 hours, you better be sore!

illmatix Damn! That's a pretty serious routine. How long have you been training? I'm just now making the switch from boxing to MMA. I trained for over a year at the same place back in 2003-2004. I just started up again in january of this year after taking time off for school/work/personal deals. Yeah soreness pretty much rocks me if I don't get proper sleep and nutrition- the trainer makes us go to a nutrition class and we have to set up our own diet. Right now I'm eating ~380g carbs, ~230g protein and ~67g fats.

Dislocated Shoulder

I had a bicycle accident last night and dislocated my shoulder. It popped back in on its own. It hurts like a mofo and it feels like i tore up my rotator cuff. Any recommendations on physical therapy? Know how long it usually takes for something like this to heal?

Know how long it usually takes for something like this to heal? ouch... i messed up my rotator took a long ass time for it to heal... many months until it felt completely fine.

XsLiCk ouch... i messed up my rotator took a long ass time for it to heal... many months until it felt completely fine. yeah this sucks hardcore. In my 5 years of working out i have been careful and never had an injury and this bullshit happens looks like i wont be doing the things i wanted to the next few months

Mike McDermott Have you seen a doc yet? no, doesnt seem that bad roommate actually had same thing happen to him about a month ago, his was much worse and they didnt do anything for him aside from give him vicodin

this shit sucks. dislocated mine playing football in high school. plagued me for a few years, got surgery last year. still sucks. ..... it sucks.

I've had mine do that same thing many times. What i do is move my shoulder as little as possible for about a week or until it doesn't hurt when i move it. Then when i start doing presses i start out light and go up in weight as long as it doesn't hurt. I don't stretch it hard, i just get the muscles warmed up before I lift.

aenz this shit sucks. dislocated mine playing football in high school. plagued me for a few years, got surgery last year. still sucks. ..... it sucks.

Mike McDermott You should see a doc just to make sure you didn't do something serious like tear your rotator cuff. yeah, maybe i will

shin splints

shin splints

I play basketball and I've had shin splints for a while now. I stretch, ice them, take anti-inflammitories, whatever. even after I rest for a week or two and they go away, they always come back after a couple more times of playing. what more can I do to treat the shin splints? what exercises/stretches can I do to prevent them?

do you have flat feet? don't ice them!!! if anything, you want to add some heat to relax the muscle!!! looks like this is a defintely a WARM UP issue! if it does get better when you rest and it happens when you start playing again, you defintely need to wark up properly.. warm up first, and stretch gently before you start your actual game... that helps.. im assuming you also started to play basketball... its not like you were playing basketball all these time and all of a sudden your get shin splits! eventually, you won't need to do stretching and the shin stretching goes away.. but ur legs have to get used to it first... a lot of my clients suffer from this once they start running, jogging, etc, etc.. and most of the time, its from not warming up properly or they have flat feet, etc, etc my suggestion to you is to properly warm up and gently take time to stretch b4.. if you give me detail info, i can give u more suggestion........

I get the same thing when running. What do you mean by flat feet?

maybe you need more cushioned shoes

look at your shoes, get some more cushioning inserts

is the pain on the front or inside part of the shin?

I saw some McDavid neoprene braces specifically for that. Maybe you shoudl try it out.

wood is the pain on the front or inside part of the shin? inside most of the time

I got some insoles for my old shoes, that didn't help, so I got new shoes. these ones are cushy and feel fine.

I always stretch my calves before playing. not sure what stretch I'd need to do to prevent the shin splints. MikeMurder I saw some McDavid neoprene braces specifically for that. Maybe you shoudl try it out. where could I get one? there's a GI Joes around my house that would probably have them, but I don't know of any places like that around school.

devilangel don't ice them!!! if anything, you want to add some heat to relax the muscle!!! Shin splints are on the bone, not any muscle.

You gotta do these walk exercises. Get an area where you can walk like 20 feet back and forth. Do each one of these walks back and forth: walk on your heals walk on your tip toes walk on the inside of your feet walk on the outsides of your feet We used to do them in track practice all the time for shin splints. They work great. You might feel a little weird doing them though.

Davo Shin splints are on the bone, not any muscle. No. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...e:shin+splints

Davo Shin splints are on the bone, not any muscle. I decided to look it up:http://my.webmd.com/content/article/80/96441.htm "Treatment for shin splits includes rest, massage, ice, stretching, and strengthening." I guess I'll keep icing them

Gamblor You gotta do these walk exercises. Get an area where you can walk like 20 feet back and forth. on the bone? Hell no.

raded inside most of the time this is most likely caused by overpronation (foot rolls inward). first thing you will want to do is get a shoe and/or orthotic that will support your arch and help keep your foot from rolling inward. do you have flat fleet or low arches?

Ilyusha No. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&oi=defmore&q=define:shin+splints Still considered a bone injury. Regardless, heat is not a good treatment.

I'm going to go out and look for some orthotics later today.

do it without shoes on

we used to do then with a mat on the floor too

rest and better shoes.

Carnifex Shin splints can be caused by the separation of your calf from the muscle in front, generally because the calf is much stronger, so walk on your heels or find something to strengthen the muscle of the shin. It could also be micro fractures but it doesn't sound like it in your case. Also, it could just be shitty shoes / lack of proper stretching and warm up. thank you! thats exactly what i mean on my original post... proper stretching, warm up, building necessary muscles, proper shoes, etc.. about the iceing... if you gonna do that, you have to alternate with heat as well, the more blood goes through the problem area, the better off you will be.. but since i really dont' know the exact detail of your problem and how and when it all started and goes away, etc.. so you figure out accordingly with the information below... generally:Ice treatment is most commonly used for acute injuries. If you have a recent injury (within the last 48 hours), where swelling is a problem, you should be using ice treatment. Ice packs can help minimize swelling around the injury. Decreasing swelling around an injury will help to control the pain. Ice treatments may also be used for chronic conditions, such as overuse injuries in athletes. In this case, ice the injured area after activity. Never ice a chronic injury before activity. Heat treatments should be used for chronic conditions to help relax and loosen tissues, and to stimulate blood flow to the area. Use heat treatments on chronic conditions, such as overuse injuries, before participating in activities. Do not use heat treatments after activity, and do not use heat after an acute injury. good luck!

I've been looking into calf/shin braces. are there specific ones I could wear while playing or could I use any of them while playing?

raded where could I get one? there's a GI Joes around my house that would probably have them, but I don't know of any places like that around school. any sports/atheltic store.

metabolism question

metabolism question

when you change your diet (amount of food you intake basically), how long does it take your metabolism to adjust? ie. get used to the new amount of food intake and disappear that hungry feeling, because i used to overeat, and now that i've lowered it to the amount i should be eating i get hungry

How many calories are you getting a day and what's your bodyweight

about 2300 and i'm 180lbs

learn to like feeling hungry. when i wanted to lose weight i dropped my cals to prolly 1500 or lower a day (too low). i was always hungry and i just liked it. i didnt really know what i was doing, but i lost 30lbs in a 3-4 months.

i dont know too much, but i know enough to know thats not a good method. you must've lost a lot of muscle i started dropping my cals gradually and coupled it with excersise (a bit of cardio and weights). i've got some upper body fat i wanna get rid of (see: man tits)

ChillerTwist i dont know too much, but i know enough to know thats not a good method. you must've lost a lot of muscle i started dropping my cals gradually and coupled it with excersise (a bit of cardio and weights). i've got some upper body fat i wanna get rid of (see: man tits) 30lbs in 3-4 months is pretty normal actually

try some hoodia (http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=1666) or nicotine (gum or patches). If you want major appetite suppression then get ahold of some bromocriptine.

nathanbx 30lbs in 3-4 months is pretty normal actually I have lost 20 in two with minimal muscle loss.

BTW, you just have to wait for your stomach to shrink. Your metabolism doesn't have as much to do with the hungry feeling as the stretch receptors in your stomach. You will get used to it. It is weird, when I cut and I eat I feel fat, when I bulk and I don't eat I feel skinny.

Ceaze try some hoodia (http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=1666) or nicotine (gum or patches). If you want major appetite suppression then get ahold of some bromocriptine. yeah hoodia works really good as long as you take it with a full glass of water

awesome! thanks for all the replies guys, they've been very helpful. i will look into those products if it becomes unbearable, but i'd rather let nature take its course

The Splits

The Splits

I want to be able to do the splits. how is this acheived. just through constant practice of stretching the splits position or what? also ive heard that stretching for 1 minute achomplishes no more than 30 seconds of stretching. so how often should i strech, practice, etc to achieve this the quickest ;x man, this sounds really gay.... but im serious.

Dunken I want to be able to do the splits. how is this acheived. just through constant practice of stretching the splits position or what? also ive heard that stretching for 1 minute achomplishes no more than 30 seconds of stretching. so how often should i strech, practice, etc to achieve this the quickest ;x man, this sounds really gay.... but im serious. I usually stretch a muscle for 30 seconds. And in the same sense that you get big numbers in the squat by doing squats, you will best train for doing the splits by practicing them and stretching by attempting to do them. I would stretch twice a day except on leg days and then only do it after your workout.

I used to be able to do the splits. I took karate when I was 8-12 or so and I was so damn flexible. Now I'm just sort of flexible. I don't think I'll ever be able to do the splits again no matter how much I stretch, though.

In high school I was in dance and we had a 30 min stretch warm up everyday. It was awesome. I learned soo many stretches and was really flexible yet I couldn't do the splits. Finally after two weeks of trying anf trying and trying (litterally about a hundred times a day) I finally did them. I was exstatic. Lol.

i wanted to try the splits so i started stretching everyday and kept trying. then one day i was attempting the splits took it a lil to far and felt something like a small tear in my muscle which didnt heal for like 3 weeks... i could feel it everytime i walked, i couldnt run. moral of the story.. dont go overboard on the stretches, it will take time. dont expect quick results.

Hip Hippo I used to be able to do the splits. I took karate when I was 8-12 or so and I was so damn flexible. same here. by the time i was 14 i couldn't do it all any more. A lot easier when you're a kid. Today, that shits just not happening.

i doubt that my hip will ever allow me to do the splits again, but I'm still rather flexible so i dont care.

.... i think it's coming along pretty well...i'm gonna switch up some exercises the next 4-6 weeks to try to hit some other parts and stimulate 'em differently right now i'm doing: deadlifts, pullups (weighted), seated cable rows, bent over bb rows/pulls and hypers oh, please feel free to comment on the pics, i have thick skin so you can be harsh...also, if someone wants to recommend a new back routine i'd appreciate it, thanks nukkas

looks like it is coming in some, no need to pull the blades together tho

Does this count? (warning, fat ahead) I'm not exactly flexing either, its me in my natural state http://img34.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img34...atfuck16hu.jpg I really need to cut down to 10% or so, I'd be a monster.

Got a game tomorow, possible to recover faster?

Got a game tomorow, possible to recover faster?

I did a chest workout today, and I was wondering if I could do anything to help the soreness (should start to hurt tonight and in the morning) Obviously a warmup tomorow, but anything in the meantime?

ice packs?

sleep tons and eat well. Try to get some blood flowing through those muscles as well.

I can't do a single pushup...chest is just sore

protein and i've always heard stretch but it never does anything for me

time machine

Shaolin_sword36 I can't do a single pushup...chest is just sore I doubt that. If that is true you do to much chest stuff.

Glutamine usually helps my soreness for some reason..

WTF Acupuncture...

WTF Acupuncture...

Whats up. Well, heres the story. Last week I tried to do box squatting, and I will still trying to get comfortable with it. After doing it with low weight, I put on 315, as that is my usual first set (after warming up a bit with 225) I come down tap the seat, and go up...next rep, i come down a bit too fast and end up sitting on the box, but i can't get it back up. So I rest for a moment, and end up straining myself and trying to adjust my footing to get a better position to stand up with the weight. I get it up. However, I end up feeling this sharp pain around my mid-lower back around the spine. CRAPP. my first squatting injury. Whatever, I made the mistake of doing another few sets with lighter weight. After I woke up, my back was killing me. Sharp pains whenever I moved the wrong way...I decided to take it easy for the next few days and not do anything that strains my back. So it was a week since the incident, last night. I was eager to try squatting again. Warmed up 225, no problem. put on 315, got it off the rack no problem, got ready to go down, and suddenly i felt a tiny shift in that same spot on my spine. Hurt like a betch. Racked the BB, and got off. Ended up doing Bench/Shoulder/Tri last night. Woke up, I could barely get out of bed. Didn't go to school, and I'm stranded at home. Now, my mom wants to take me to get acupuncture. WTF, I never believed in that oriental medicine crap. Acupuncture is supposed to release Chi? Uh, Chi only reminds me of Naruto and chakra or something. I dunno, I think they're going to put needles in my back and draw some blood. My mom got it done to her shoulder last week and she said it helped. BS. I would rather get x-rays done to make sure everything is okay. Either that, or I could wait another two weeks to make sure it heals up . I know I made some bad decisions in trying to put up that much weight with box squats initialy, and trying to squat again after a week of injury. But thats besides the point. What do you guys think of acupuncture? Is it legit? Does it work? I find it hard to believe that a few pokes with some long needles will help my spine heal. Also, do you guys have any other suggestions or comments? I'm ready for flames for my stupidity, thats understood. Any serious comments would help. ___________________________________________ Cliffs:Hurt my back/spine doing box squat a week ago, tried again last night, hurt it in the same spot. Now my mom is going to take me to get acupuncture. I dont believe in it. Thoughts? ____________________________________________ Plus, i frickin HATE needles. Some kinda mild phobia I guess.

Acupuncture basically made all my knee pain go away....the needles really aren't bad at all, they aren't thick like drug needles. Go for it...

dont be afraid of the needles. u wont feel a thing and u probably wont see them either if its on ur back so that shouldn't be a concern. its worth a shot i say. but your best bet to heal is probably just resting for a few weeks. i doubt an xray shows anything abnormal but get one of those two if you've got insurance just to be sure.

superbri007 I just got it today, and I love it, its relaxing. The best part about it is just laying there for 20 mins in a silent room stairing at the ceiling. The needles don't hurt really, unless they put it in a little too far geez. in 9th grade i had to get my immunizations for highschool and football. i nearly passed out after 2 shots...and this was after trying to pretend like i was all cool about it. at least i'm not diabetic like my aunt who takes 7 shots of insulin a day.

superbri007 dude, give it 2 weeks, rest yourself, stretch out, don't lift anything heavy, get some accupuncture, but also get chiropractic re-alignment first!. I go every monday for 10-30 mins or so. get my back aligned, then get accupuncture for sinus's and wherever I'm getting spasms from lifting, etc. wtf realignment? i hope nothing is out of place.

Go to the doctor.

~stangzorized~ Go to the doctor. i don't like the doctor. my mom said we'll get acupuncture, and if its still bad after a few days, we'll get x-ray's done.

superbri007 then just don't look at the needles, and the likelihood of you passing out while lying on yoru stomach or back is 0 to none lol. try it out man, its really cool, and doesn't hurt a bit! the needles are so tiny you don't feel them really haha i was kinda exaggerating about my fear of needles. i'm not scared, i just dont wanna waste my time putting needles in my back when i dont know if it'll do anything. but the 9th grade thing is a true story.

superbri007 today I had 14 needles in, one in between each thumb and pointer finger, 1 on each ear lobe, one on my scalp, two above my upper lip, about 4 around my left shoulder, one on my right shoulder area and some down my forearm dude, what did you do? get in a train wreck? or did purevl drop his deadlift on your face?

superbri007 purevl dropped something else on my face he's into scat and I wasn't aware anyways: acupuncture is awesome. my dad used to do it. it works.

superbri007 your German, aren't you guys into the whole shitting on peoples face thing? nah man. you guys buy them videos

superbri007 or download and share them with OT send me some more music biatch!!! I need more Rammstein for my new mp3 player im gettin in a week or so waddya want? i have Mutter as well as a best of here...

Rammstein - Ich Will (live)

i'm currently upping something else plus i wanna upload the Kung-Fu Hustle over night (10 Pm right now over here)...Rammstein will probably have to wait a bit

you did see the mp3 link in this thread though i hope?! also: you need to get rid of that stupid fuckin avatar mang

superbri007 as in " I'm a n00bert and didn't see the link..." or " I'm a broke bitch and can't afford another sub!" IBboth

go to the acupunture treatment. i like it and i believe in it. many many reasons..

Came back from it not too long ago. All he did was ask me what happened, and before i finished explaining he said "okay, get on the bed" (in korean) he started poking the general area with his fingers, made a fist and pushed extremely hard. f'in hurt. he's like "okay, its a dam" meaning a stress cramp? so he gets this pen like jig, and starts poking holes in my back...and doesn't stop. it must've been literally 100 holes. then he puts these glass cups on my back and uses this manual vacuum to pump out the air. so after waiting 10 minutes, he comes back and releases the cups and wipes away all the blood, which felt like it was a lot. result? i don't really feel any better. he says it will after a day or two, and he wants me to come back tomorrow. looks really ugly too. (you're not seeing things, my right lat is bigger than my left lat. )

I don't think you should ever sit back down on the box if you can't get it up. Just drop the weight if you're forced to sit back down. I think I even remember christophers saying this.

b-stevens I don't think you should ever sit back down on the box if you can't get it up. Just drop the weight if you're forced to sit back down. I think I even remember christophers saying this. now that would've been greater advice a week ago.

superbri007 i've never seen that approach, i'll ask my chiro. you sure your guy didn't get his Accupuncture certification from a crack jack box? nonetheless, cool, you need to go back for a followup too followup? dam. he's supposedly famous among northern virginian koreans for really helping them out. my mom got the same thing done last week b/c her shoulder was killing her...she says she feels fine now.

You could tell your friends your girlfriend has some suckin skills. Hm..hickeys?

Where to go in Vegas?

Where to go in Vegas?

Best place to eat? Best buffets? Best clubs? I'm not really going for gambling, but where's the best place to play 21 and Hold Em? I know this is slightly offtopic, but I'm leaving in less than 24 hours, so it can be deleted tommorow. Plus I don't have access to the main forum..

Alot of the good buffets are in the casinos themselves, I hit up the one in Treasure Island, the desert section was unfuckingbelievable, especially for cheesecake, they had like 7 different varieties.

sooooo many great places to eat. Id have a hard time picking a favorite.

stop talking about food go to Club Rain.

cunninglinguist stop talking about food go to Club Rain. I had to keep it somewhat on topic..

Bulk up at the Bellagio buffet.

bellagio had steak and lobster when i went, among other tasty things

i just got back a few weeks ago. The buffet at the bellagio is great and it should be at $35 each. I also had dinner at Delmonico's steakhouse at the Venetian, and had one of the best steaks of my life (and i've eaten at some good steakhouses). Also expensive though, $100+ per person. Personally i think the clubs are kind of weak out there. I've been to rain, ra, rumjungle, bikinis, ice (off the strip), ghostbar, and body english. I've always had a great time at Crazy Horse Too. Apparently the last night we were out there i made out with one of the strippers...don't really remember much of that though

Ilyusha I'm definitely planning on hitting Rain, Ghostbar, Body English, and Rum Jungle. Shit's expensive to get into.. you can get passes from the local taxi drivers that will work as the cover charge for these places. If you're a good negotiator and are persistant, you can get them REALLY cheap. By the time our trip was over, i was pretty good at it...got 8 people into Rain on saturday night for $2 each. But then unless you like waiting on line for 2 hours, you'll just spend the money you saved on greasing the bouncers and skipping the lines

Ilyusha So would I ask a taxi driver for some passes or...? yeah ask if they have any passes for whatever place you want to go to and make sure they are good for the night you want to go.

Chris3G yeah ask if they have any passes for whatever place you want to go to and make sure they are good for the night you want to go. Sweet.. thanks. Are there fakes floating around that I should watch out for?

Ilyusha Sweet.. thanks. Are there fakes floating around that I should watch out for? i doubt it, from what i understand the taxi drivers get these things for free or near close to free, despite what they might tell you. They generate business for the clubs and get people into the casino. Oh, here's another tip...if you want to go to a strip club, don't pay a taxi driver for the ride. Ask the guy working the taxi line at the hotel for a ride in a house car, and they'll generally take you for free in some kind of stretch limo. They get kickbacks from the clubs for doing this.

Ilyusha Will do if the gf goes along with it... ahh if it's just the two of you this might not work..they get paid by how many people they bring in...we had a group of 8 so it was never a problem...doesn't hurt to ask either way though.

Alright.. I'll see how many things I can get for cheaper than the going rate. As long as I can get some discount off of clubs, I'll be happy.

the orleans casino has 99 cent dinner specials after midnight on weeknights. i had 2 plates of steak and eggs and a pancake sandwhich for 3 bucks last time i went. also met the bouncer to the club at the venetian, i forgot what its called, but we met him at the gym playing basketball and he got us in vip that saturday night, cut through a humongous line. my friends live in vegas and still get hookups from him every now and then. i think he's russian too

when you're out there make sure to bulk like you have never bulked before...

im back, vegas was dope, lost lots of money, had tons of fun faggor

Pics of [what I use at] my gym...

Pics of [what I use at] my gym...

Backsville (you can see all the newb machines in the background): Latsville: The Bars (got some flat, incline, decline and shoulder): Dumbbells (stop at 100 ): Cables (one of two): Teh Cages (I like how the newbs used them for curls and didn't re-rack): Hammer Strength: Hammer Strength: Upstairs is cardio and aerobics area. I go up there to stretch, do crunchies and take a walk around the track to see if any scenery is on the treadmills.

I wish they had a dip station at my gym. I always go to a leg machine (where you tie a cable to your leg at the ankle) which has two parallel bars for people to stabilize themselves and I do dips off of those. Atleast my gym does have DBs up to 150 (or 140...I haven't really looked at the biggest ones yet).

those 100 lb DB's look giant, those compare to the 200s (in size) at my gym

Shaolin_sword36 says a lot about that gym

SteveO those 100 lb DB's look giant, those compare to the 200s (in size) at my gym Rubber crap. I shouldn't complain though coz rubber doesn't hurt as much during a failure. As for the gym, it's in a very rich area of the southwestern suburbs. Some of the older men are quite built or healthy, but we don't have many brolies. Mostly yuppies in the weight rooms and baby boomers and attractive older golddiggers upstairs. Occasionally there will be some hotties and cool guys my age. The gym just west of the city has a better crowd, and I'll be there soon enough since I'm moving. FYI, this gym is the best Bally's in Minneapolis, and I'll miss it.

Mugwump Rubber crap. I shouldn't complain though coz rubber doesn't hurt as much during a failure. Maybe its just consistency, but the rubber ones feel solid enough that I can go 5 lbs more without even noticing the difference.

Shaolin_sword36 We have those same god damned cages at my gym. They suck cock because the holes for the catches are so far apart. And don't lie, you're the one that was doing the curls.

I use the EZ bars (15 lbs less than the regular barbells).

those cages blow..

y?

Mugwump y? pin layout is awfull

Fuck, nice ballys, ...My Ballys fuckin sucks nuts. Its half of half of that. Jesus its pathetic.

White Fuck, nice ballys, ...My Ballys fuckin sucks nuts. Its half of half of that. Jesus its pathetic. Like I said, it's the nicest Bally's here. We have several of them, and there are some bad ones.

vettedude those cages blow..

They get the job done. Post a pic of a good cage. I'd like to see what I'm missing.

Mugwump They get the job done. Post a pic of a good cage. I'd like to see what I'm missing. for squats / GMs they are fine...

No deadlift platform, no care! Seriously it looks pretty good :P

happens all the time in my school gym

Elfling No deadlift platform, no care! I have to take the bar from the shoulder press bench and do my deadlifts there (barbell shoulder press isn't very popular for some reason). It's kinda sad, but I usually have lots of space.

Thats a nice fucking gym.

damn, that's a nice ballys. all the ballys here in NoVA are prolly 1/4 that size, no lie. well, the weight area is 1/4 that size. the rest is taken up by a pool, indoor track, etc.

looks pretty nice.

fawking stretch marks!!!!

fawking stretch marks!!!!

every fucking month i have new stretch marks on my arms today, i have a new one my right front delt shoulders

sux

Yea I got them all the way down my bicep now, kinda sucks but I stopped caring about them along time ago.

Jeg1983 Yea I got them all the way down my bicep now, kinda sucks but I stopped caring about them along time ago. i didnt care about them before....but first i notice a red "scratch" then next day it was gone----then a week later it came back...then after workout, it formed into a fucking stretch marks

i have them everywhere......on my chest on my arms

Armpit and biceps *infinity

I don't give a shit about them.

<==== former fatass i have em on my lower back, triceps, obliques, hammies, and ass. they are faded now but you can still notice em if you look

how long do they take to fade? i've had my new ones on my bi's for about a month now, and while they aren't bright red anymore they're still noticeable from a distance.

< ===== still a fatass right here had em since i can remember and im adding more as i get stronger. i hate cardio

Get something called Strivectin SD , it reduces them and the appearance of them dramatically.

I gotta everywhere, vertical one's on my sides and belly, bicepsm, back. they suck try cocoa butter, supposedly it helps reduce them

I have them on my legs, it's horrible. I'm hoping that when I lose some weight they will fade out some. I've been using lotion/cocoa butter on them, but it doesn't seem to help. I think that will only help if you know the stretch marks are going to happen, ie pregnancy.

evi1eddie how long do they take to fade? i've had my new ones on my bi's for about a month now, and while they aren't bright red anymore they're still noticeable from a distance. Mine faded in about a year

I have really bad stretchmarks on my lower back

everyday like after a shower just put on some lotion preferable with aloe or cocoa butter and that will hydrate your skin and help prevent them. It helps a lot.

I have them pretty bad as well. The only place is in the armpit region and biceps though. For a while what I would is take 1 vitamin E gel tablet every morning and before bed I would break a gel tablet open and spread it on the areas with stretch marks. It worked pretty well but I ran out and never got back to buying more. I think this time I will try the cocoa butter and see how that goes though.

collagen for teh win... I had some killer stretchies on my inner legs, they're finally fading out kinda tho.. still pretty damn visible

yeah i have near the front delt/armpit area, and i'm wondering when it will go away...hopefully soon now that i'm dieting again...i also have a ton of my upper legs

Ceaze does that just help fade the marks? edit: nevermind, says made to prevent stretch marks

i've stumbled across something that has actually worked really well to help the stretch marks on my biceps fade. i got the marks a couple months ago and though they were no longer blood red, they were still dark red/purple and really stuck out on my arms. i heard that vitamin e was supposed to help w/ stretch marks and while looking around a vitamin/nutrition store, i found pure vitamin e oil, 70,000 IU for $12. i've only used it three times thus far, rubbing it and massaging it on my arms, but each time the stretch marks are less noticeable. each time i use it they become lighter and smaller, the smallest ones look like mere skin blemishes and when i run my finger across the small ones, they feel smooth and indistinguishable from normal skin. the big stretch marks are still a problem, and by big i'm talking 1/2" wide and 4" long, but those are making improvements too. one stretch mark that was 1/4" wide and 3" long has faded into my skin tone and is only noticeable from like a foot away. before i bought the vitamin e oil i ordered strivectin sd but the oils been working so well that i haven't even cracked the bottle yet. i'm planning on using it only after the vitamin e stops improving the strechies. good luck guys edit: btw it didn't do anything for the old stretch marks that had already faded into little white lines

I've had them on my legs for months now

Rebs im natural and i was skinny as shit and got them Same. Got horizontal ones on my lower back, and some small ones on my upper armpits. I think I see some starting to form on my rear delts. What you gotta do is just smother the "stretchmark zones" (places stretchmarks typically show up) with cocoa butter once a day. Putting it on after they already appear won't do too much.

Keepn in mind strivectin -sd is hella expensive.

fawking stretch marks!!!!

More gripper madness!!! V. JAG

More gripper madness!!! V. JAG

It's the new hottness/ bandwagon on the gripboard. The idea is that by tightening the hose clamp you stretch the spring out adding resistance to the close. I put it on my coc1. It was a fucking bitch to do though.

that looks a little dangerous, i can imagine the spring flying off and hitting you in the eye

Fucking McGyver.

nukegoat that looks a little dangerous, i can imagine the spring flying off and hitting you in the eye dont say such things

I could see it used as a weapon to shoot the spring at unsuspecting people.

fucking cool, i seriously need to get a COC...

superbri007 Grouch, you got problems they need a 12 step program for you "Hi, i'm Grouch and I'm a Grip-Aholic" nonetheless, cool Why not buy a CoC 4 fuck you it's 1337! you wish you had these skillzz. Oh and I have a RB300 wish its like a 3.9 compared to a coc4.

superbri007 Grouch, you got problems they need a 12 step program for you "Hi, i'm Grouch and I'm a Grip-Aholic" nonetheless, cool Why not buy a CoC 4 Like 3 people have closed that..

Ilyusha Like 3 people have closed that.. 5. And none under the new rules.

Grouch 5. And none under the new rules. What new rules?

Ilyusha What new rules? The credit card set. Before it was just you had to close it with one hand but you could set the gripper pretty much as deep into the close as you wanted too.

Now i'm looking into buying a Beef Builder Super Master from someone on gripboard. http://www.wwfitness.com/

Grouch Now i'm looking into buying a Beef Builder Super Master from someone on gripboard. http://www.wwfitness.com/ dude,

b-stevens dude, what???? Its inbetween a 2 and a 3 and i've been looking to get rid of my HG300 cause i dont like the small spread. Addicts never try and justify their problems...

i will still turn your hand to dust

PurEvl i will still turn your hand to dust no, I dont think so.

^^ then instead just put that spring you made onto your CoC2.

terse ^^ then instead just put that spring you made onto your CoC2. shut up. dont use that sound logic with me!!

blow up any cans lately? thats the only reason id buy grippers

anyone selling a trainer?

in for pics of callouses

you're obsessed dude first thing im buying with my paycheck is a gripper...

Shaolin_sword36 in for pics of callouses I've picked most of the big ones off. but now i have callouses on my fingers and not just my palms.

NoXeN blow up any cans lately? thats the only reason id buy grippers no, I really need to get a recording of that and make an animated gif from it. But i think most of the strong guys on the forum could do it.

superbri007 want to know a little trick...use toe-nail or finger nail clippers, and just clip it off, its dead skin so it won't hurt. If it hurts, thats live skin I use a cheese grater

More gripper madness!!! V. JAG

My calves wont grow

My calves wont grow

So after about 6-7 months of lifting my upper body has progressed a lot, and my upper legs sort of, but my calves still suck. Leg day looks like this: Squats 4 sets 6-12 reps Leg curls 3 sets Leg ext 2-3 sets Standing calves 4 sets does anyone know a way around this? should i work calves 2 times a week? thanks...my calves are pretty much disproportional

solo Since you use you calves so much for daily activity you have to work them to failyer to see growth. Some one recently posted a link to a killer calve routine. Thanks, I will try and look for it

try higher reps and more frequency

Since leg curls and extensions mainly focus on your quads and hamstrings, your upper legs will wear out before you get much of a good calf workout. My suggestion would be to do some heavily weight calf raises until near-failure or failure.

I carry a 10kg (22lb) backpack around uni every day, it has made my calves explode (I don't do any direct calf work in the gym apart from ghr's (which aren't really direct))

Bulk diet + working out + calve specific exercises = bigger calves

Hardest muscle to get a result from.

ThenameT Hardest muscle to get a result from. because people don't know how to train them. Failure isn't enough Keep on doing what you're doing, but add in more sets - use lots of rest-pause reps and partial cheat reps towards the end to keep on pushing past failure.

Day 1: High-Volume Exercise A: Calf Superset* A1) Seated Calf Raises 3 x 10-5-5 (one set of 10 reps, followed by two of 5 reps) at a 101 tempo (1 second to lower the weight, no pause, and 1 second to raise the weight) A2) Donkey Calf Raises 3 x 30-50 at a 101 tempo *After finishing a set of the A1 exercise, proceed immediately to exercise A2. Then rest two minutes before repeating the super set. Exercise B: Standing Calf Raises B1) Standing Calf Raises 10 x 10-30 at a 111 tempo, ten seconds** **In other words, you'll be doing one, long, extended set, resting ten seconds between each mini-set and lowering the weight in between. Day 2: Low-Volume (to be done 48 hours after Day 1) Exercise A: Triple Drop Standing Calf Raises A1) Triple Drop Standing Calf Raises 3 x 10-10-10 (in other words, three drop sets) at a 121 tempo,*** resting 90 seconds between sets. ***The pause is taken in the bottom stretch position, and be sure to take the full two seconds.

I'd just up the amount of sets/exercises. Calves can be pretty stubborn, but not impossible to change.

Ilyusha IBMTVTrueLifeIwantCalfImplants my exact thoughts.. I couldn't believe he did it.

Ceaze Day 1: High-Volume Exercise A: Calf Superset* A1) Seated Calf Raises 3 x 10-5-5 (one set of 10 reps, followed by two of 5 reps) at a 101 tempo (1 second to lower the weight, no pause, and 1 second to raise the weight) A2) Donkey Calf Raises 3 x 30-50 at a 101 tempo *After finishing a set of the A1 exercise, proceed immediately to exercise A2. Thanks. I am going to try that

I wish my gym had a donkey calf raise machine...

i have no problems with my calves, its the rest of my body that won't grow some people have problems with calves because they actually stretch the muscle while doing the raises (by bringing the heels downward past the point of parallel to the floor when they bring the weight down) ... doesn't work the muscle right

Dr. Shrooms You're not supposed to do that? I wish someone would have told me sooner. no, i mean you can a little bit i'm sure, but the fibers in the muscles don't work that way, so you stretch them out and they're not going to give you strength where you need it... unless of course you're jumping from a bar with your feet in that position, then it might work

On the leg press machine, place your toes on the lower edge of the footplate with your heels hanging off. Lower the weight and try to bend your calves as far in as you can and hold it for 12-15 secs. Than explode on the positive and slowly control the negative and repeat for 10 reps. I use 180 and by the time i reach 9 im seeing stars, after that 10 is life or death for me. These will fry your calves!

mike omg, calf raises on a leg press machine? GENIUS! ya have you done them the way im talking about dicksmack?

Dr. Shrooms You're not supposed to do that? I wish someone would have told me sooner. stretch induces more growth

Ceaze sorry but this is completely wrong then a trainer is wrong... its for the standing calf raises with weight on the shoulders ... was told awhile back and another one told me a couple of days ago that extending your heels downward while doing calf raises have a negative effect and stretch the fibers out too much for it to be beneficial for growth and strenth purposes... unless I'm misunderstanding things. i'd like to know more about it actually, because i keep hearing the same things from different trainers

Ceaze stretch induces more growth thats always what i had thought initially

how do i stop getting stretch marks?

how do i stop getting stretch marks?

i keep getting them on my arms. where the biceps are and they're getting longer to where my armpits are. what can i do to stop this?

cocoa butter lotion w/ vitamin e every day after you shower to prevent new stretch marks

who really cares how to get rid of them, just keep lifting.

stop eating fatty

Rebs i heart stretch marks, they are like scars on your hands..shows hard work nigga yea from eating alot too?

get bigger

i alsways get stretch marks there when im bulking, i always took pride in that i was getting stretch marks from my muscles growing so fast instead of from getting fat.

well it's going to take years for them to fade.. so put lotion on it with vitamin e.

Rebs yeah i havent seen my dick in 7 years. i've seen it

Rebs yeah i havent seen my dick in 7 years.

evi1eddie cocoa butter lotion w/ vitamin e every day after you shower to prevent new stretch marks Well said. I put on some cocoa butter on my upper armpits/lower shoulders and upper arm where the current stretch mark would come back in (there's a small one that appeared not too long ago, but faded out), and on my other armpit/arm/shoulder.. Haven't gotten one since. And ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or whatever the hell the saying is. You won't even get stretch marks there to begin with if your skin is good from the daily applications. PS, try not to go down a ridiculous amount on stuff like DB flys or DB incline bench.. I got the one on my left armpit for having my ROM on one rep uncrontrolled (went down too far). It wasn't there when I went in, checked right after that set... sho nuff, big fat stretch mark.

2nd the lotion everyday. although it wont completely prevent them, i have noticed that they appear less since using vitamin e lotion everyday.

Hey fuckers. Imma be gone for while

Hey fuckers. Imma be gone for while

Ok, starting thursday I won't be around at all for like 2 weeks. I get married Saturday, and I've got 11ty things to do. I've got to get work ready so that my halfwit employees don't run me into the ground. After I get married sat, I'll be out of the country for over a week, and I'll be back for a few days but prolly not at work, then I have to go to a convention for work. Hopefully they'll have a wireless network there and I can fuck off there like I do here. So basically, don't burn the board down. Listen to Auntie Pur, and don't stay up too late. There's food in the fridge.

Sticky?

and when you say "out of the country" do you mean your honeymoon will be in the city?

out of the country. Belize

Congrats on getting married have fun in Belize

go see a donkey show for me and take pics please

I can't decide on taking my digi or not. It's insured, but I was thinking about dispoables and just get them on CD. I want to take my laptop for the plane ride, but I dunno if it's a good idea.

another one to the side. congrats, none the less

trancezj I can't decide on taking my digi or not. It's insured, but I was thinking about dispoables and just get them on CD. What are the advantages of clean bulking?

What are the advantages of clean bulking?

I read through a bunch of the noob thread and it doesnt spell it out, but it seems that it helps you gain more LBM weight, and overall gives you better nutrition. Is that about right? What are everyone's experiences clean bulking vs. dirty bulking? Sorry if this is a repost, I can't search.

Clean bulk = Less work when cutting.

I know what they are, I'd like to know what the relative advantages/disadvantages are of each.

why would progress be slowero n clean foods? doesn't it just boil down to # of cals?

A lot of people think it doesn't make a difference. How much of the excess weight goes to lean body mass and how much goes to fat is mostly determined by genetics. 80%. Its your P-ratio.

So basically with dirty bulking you put on more fat and less muscle? Am I interpreting that right?

food is all comprised of the same chemicals, 'clean' foods are not some magical form of chemicals that adds muscle without fat. The greater the carloric surplus the greater the fat gain, but also the greater the muscle gain. Its just going to be easier going far over the caloric maintenance level on 'dirty' foods. If you counted calories on a dirty bulk and a clean bulk and ate the same level of calories, I'm quite confident the fat gains would be relatively unnoticable

Bulking:Dirty Bulk = More Fat, More Muscle, Less Time Clean Bulk = Less Fat, More Muscle, More Time Cutting:Dirty Bulk = Takes Longer to loose the bf, keep more muscle mass Clean Bulk = Less bf to cut, could loose more muscle mass during cutting process than dirty bulk

christophers I agree with wazzle26

clean bulking will result in either really slow/no gains. if you seriously want to put on mass and get stronger, just eat balls to the wall. enjoy yourself too, eat fries and hamburgers and pie and shit. that makes the subsequent cutting a lot easier.

Sweet, I think dirty bulking is the way to go for myself personally. I think I am just going to eat pretty much normally but just add in stuff like chocolate bars, burgers, more pop, pizza. Want to add 10 pounds by July. Edit: I assume you just mean it makes the cutting easier because you'll have only been on strict diet for 6 months instead of 12...I'm hoping it'll make cutting easier because I won't be gaining a bigger appetite, but rather just an addiction to sugar, therefore I'll get cravings but not hunger pains when I cut.

Clean bulking is a slow process no doubt...I believe its for people who have already achieved some sort of serious muscle mass though. I think most kids in here need to eat clean 3-4 days and pig out the rest. Kind of a 50 50 mix. EVeryones afraid of getting fat...well to get to were i am I got huge/strong bloated and fat. Then cut it all off with hardcore diets. You do this over a few times and you come back leaner/denser and better everytime at the same offseason weight. Thats how I get to 260 and still stay 12%ish nowadays. disclaimer... Pl'ers are exempt as usual

So....what do you guys recommend us newbies do for bulking? Clean or dirty?

I like diry bulking

dirty bulking just sounds more fun

did you guys find you got a lot of stretch marks during your bulking phases?

Rebs clean bulk = looking skinny all the time.. fixed

and i agree with Pur, i think the clean bulking route is for people who are already fairly big and just want to maintain their lean physique while adding muscle and strength slowly. but for the vast majority of people here, i think "dirty" bulking is the way to go and it's not as if you eat nothing but saturated fat...i still ate oatmeal all the time, plenty of omega3's etc.

na

I think I will be doing a hybrid of clean/dirty bulking as I want to keep a steady ratio of fat and muscle. Here is the kicker, I bet I could do it fast. For instance, me, who is currently doing 2200 calories, will be going to a 5000 calorie diet to do it crazy fast. The way that I would do it is with steel cut oats, protein powder, dextrose/other sugars, egg whites, tuna, fish oil/flax seed oil pills, no fruits, daily vitamins to make sure I got all of my stuff, cassein protein, skim milk instead of water on steel cut oats and a good 5 litres of water a day. You see, all you have to do is know some shit about insulin and how to use the bodie's most anabolic hormone. By adding dextrose to every meal, you make sure that your food is "absorbed faster". Holy shit I can't wait till I start my bulking phase.. sugar... that is one of the problems though, you get cravings.

good point.

christophers ya, its up to you. however the person who gains mroe muscle/fat will pretty much always be the one to progress faster, especially if he lose fat fast ala werdna or the kid in our gym. also due to: more weight gain -> more strength -> more strength = more microtrauma = more muscle again, its individual.. but most people simply cannot think long term. its all short term. thats the biggest fault i see daily. shit I think my bodyfat varies with what I've eaten in the last 2 hours. no joke.
