I can't decide if school ending will be a good thing or a bad thing

I can't decide if school ending will be a good thing or a bad thing

On the bright side, I'll have a lot more free time so I can do all the stuff I have to do and still have more than enough time to work out. But on the other hand, I'll probably be at home a lot, so that means I'll probably start snacking a lot . This might also work to my advantage as long as I eat healthy snacks. We'll see.

I have a hard time with my diet when I'm busy. When i'm bulking i cant get in enough but i guess it's good for cutting.

free time = fatty!

christophers for most people it will be a bad thing. its much easier to diet the more busier you are. fucking werd. mon-fri is a snap. its the weekends that really test my will power.

I can't wait till summer rolls around. Biking, hiking, camping, etc. I love the outdoors. The only thing that might fuck me over a little bit is my 22 day trip to europe but I am sure I'll be fine since I'll most likely be done cutting by then and I'll just need to maintain which won't be that bad.

I have to get jacked because I'm getting moved up to varsity football next year. If I'm not incredibly strong I'm going to get fucked by 400 pound benching PGs.

I finally move out of these fucking dorms into an apartment. I'll actually be able to eat properly for the first time since I'm no longer required to eat the shit they serve on campus

I cant wait for school to end. I'll have more energy, more free time for workouts, I can regulate my diet better. I'm so busy with exams I havent evn worked out since thursday. Fucking sucks.

I just realized that once school is over, I start summer school 12 hours

It will definately be bad for me. When I get home I will have all this tempting food and probably slip on my working out. Luckily I still have over a month left of school so I dont have to worry about it too soon.

I hope to be 100kg before finals or godddd

christophers my exams will begin soon time to start being owned! I have AP reviews lined up basically till the second week of may, then the final reviews start and finals begin. And I get my fucking wisdom teeth pulled friday too.

i dont like highschool but i really dont want summer...i have late arrival in the morning so i work out at seven and then work out after school...i usually split my work ups into back/bi ..chest/tri ...legs/shoulders...been going awesome going to suck for it to end

I can't wait for school to be over. These past couple weeks have been brutal, no sleep and lots of school work. I will be done in a week and a half though. From there I am just focusing on gaining weight. I will have lots of time since I am only working 6 hour shifts and they end around 1130am.

bulking during the summer = the lose. I can never do it.

I can't wait, I am just going to work out all the time.

I'll be glad once school is out cause then work will be the only thing preventing me from having the workout schedule I'd ideally like to be on.

Ya, I will miss the gym. I have a set of free weights at home, but it also hard to get someone to spot me. But I will start running agian.

bulking all year round = win I have good bulking genes

i found it bad. getting up at a certian time for classes got me up to eat more times during the day.

I can't decide if school ending will be a good thing or a bad thing

What the hell is this exercise *pics*

I've seen a lot of people doing this lately and its starting to piss me off. It's not on exrx as far as i know, so i come to ot. basically its like a tricep extention, minus the bending at the elbows. its is arms completely straight, all the way down to the waist. it confuses me so.

looks like lats / rotator cuff. Don't know the name of it

some lat pull down press pull over thing.

It sounds like a variation of a pullover, which works your lats and chest.

sans_pants aw whatever, that guy is doing it way different that the people i saw, his knees are all bent and stuff yeah i dont do it like that. i could be doing it wrong but i stand back with my feet close to shoulder width apart and knees barely, if at all, bent.

http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/exerc...tpulldowns.htm These? I do them supersetted with my chins, love em'.

ah excellent site just what i was looking for : http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

they're a good lat exercise that doesnt involve the bicep....also hits the long head of your tricep pretty good

i've seen people do those i might have to give them a try

I like to do those when I train back. Its a lat exercise.

I like em..they seem to hit the insertion point for lats pretty good, and they beat your triceps to death I've always called them pressdowns, which is slightly incorrect perhaps but made sense to me when I was a noob.

pullovers with a dumbbell or barbell are way better

ryazbeck pullovers with a dumbbell or barbell are way better Ummm no. Free weight pullovers have no tension at the point of the movement where you want the MOST tension

fast twitch

fast twitch

i overheard some guys talking about you shouldn't rest over a minute doing calves because they are fast twitch? any truth to that?

Numbers from 27 yr old bodybuilders: Lateral Gastrocnemius - 53% Type I, 47% Type IIa/b Medial Gastrocnemius - 56% Type I, 44% Type IIa/b Soleus - 74% Type I, 27% Type IIa/b From this study you can see that the calves are more slow twitch than fast twitch. However, I think you should train according to your goal, not for your fiber type.

I enjoy sprinting up stairs outdoors. I wish the local stadium would let me use their facilities. Stair steppers suck.

i like the stair stepper myself.

basketball pick up games

DCCapen trail running, when my knee doenst hurt I really like trail running too, although I hardly ever do it. I'm not sure what it is about it, but I just feel a lot more engergized running through the woods rather than on a road or track somewhere. Most of my non-weight training exercise is just taking walks with the wife. I still hit the elliptical from time to time but haven't been using it nearly as much. Once it is consistently warm here I want to start doing sprints a couple of days per week. I'm just not sure where to work them into my split.

Running is my absolute favourite. Ahh.

Fish Oil Question

Whats up everybody.... I don't really post... barely actually, more of a lurker. I havea quick question about fish oil. I know most you guys include it in your daily intake of supplements...and I was wondering what's it for. What are the benefits and negative side affects if any. thanks in advance.

excellent source of fats. cons.... none

There aren't any negative side effects that I now of. It has omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for you.

How do you know if you're burning fat or cardohydrates?

How do you know if you're burning fat or cardohydrates?

One question I still don't understand is how do we know whether we're burning fat from our bodies and not carbohydrates that we have recently eaten? I'm talking about when we're doing cardio exercises (treadmill etc) or lifting weights in general. Any insight?

You feel the tingle in your special place.

carbs are the bodies preferred energy source so you are using them first whenever you do any type of activity

cunninglinguist carbs are the bodies preferred energy source so you are using them first whenever you do any type of activity not if your eating zero

cunninglinguist carbs are the bodies preferred energy source so you are using them first whenever you do any type of activity So what happens when you run out? You start burning fat? What about muscle, how do you know you're not burning your muscle tissue instead?

doesnt matter

jonno doesnt matter .

christophers at the end of the day it doesnt matter what you use during exercise in laymans, you can pull fat out of the cell during low intensity cardio for example if you are depleted enough, but that doesn't mean it's oxidized. it will just be put right back in if at the end of the day you are not in a deficit. For most of us excersising without glycogen in our muscles is pretty bad because we may go catabolic and eat our muscles instead of oxidising fat. It's best to just tailor you're diet so you're in a calorie deficit but make sure you have glycogen (carbs) around you're workout so your body does'nt fuck itself and go catabolic. Having said that, a few guys on this board workout on empty stomachs in the morning and still make gains (ie timberwolf) but this is right in the morning after just waking up, so he may still have glycogen from the night before as it has'nt be burnt through the day yet. I though cos I ain't him.

christophers yes people drastically over-estimate glycogen like, people believe if you go to bed and wakeup, you are depleted. this is not the case. now, purevl on his 4tgh day of low carbs is going to be depleted. but he wont be for a few days after he carbs up. for the average person not employing strategies such as very low carb days, you will not be truly deplete dwhen you wakeup. if you want to truly deplete, and feel how shitty it is, do a few depletion cycles and eat low carb. I go two low one high and repeat, typically its 5 low days a week and 2 high, my high days are only 230 or so carbs as well. If i need to really step it up I will take the low days to 4-5 straight. You needs tons of muscle to be able to do this and also have to know your body inside and out. I can get away with it but others at my level would burn muscle in a flash. I take time to get sliced, some get ripped in half the time, thats there gift, mines the ability to hold onto muscle

I like the idea of just getting enough carbs pre and post workout and staying on a constant calorie deficit throughout the diet, at least for most normal people trying to lose weight ie most people on this board . Of course, you have all the experiance and real world knowledge so I'm just offering an opinion (IByouscareme ).

I realize bodybuilders do this in preparation for a show but I never really knew why.

Of course, you have all the experiance and real world knowledge so I'm just offering an opinion (IByouscareme ). you're talking about a TKD, which is a well documented means of dieting for bodybuilders (as advocated by bobo and others for years) in a calorie and carb deficit, it really depends on the amounts of protein and fats in your diet, if you are not eating enough good fat, your body will preferentially use protein as an energy source; it also depends on genetic factors like your p-ratio

a couple other things, obviously it will be easier to lose fat with a higher bodyfat level and make sure you have plenty of water to oxidize the released fatty acids or they will be re-stored
