I think my extensor digitorum is fucked.

I think my extensor digitorum is fucked.

My fingers on my right hand are pretty stiff for no reasons whatsoever. I noticed this after I was done with a bio exam earlier this morning. I looked it up and found some info that leads me to believe that I either have osteo-arthritis or heart disease (apparently stiffness of the fingers is a precursor to both of those diseases). Upper body day today will be interesting...

it's the protein powder

superbri007 man up with your bad communist self coudl it just be that you wrote a lot? Didn't write that much..

My fingers are stiff as well, I don't think it's a heart condition.

too much munchkin punching

It's probably just from lifting, seriously. I get stiff fingers after heavy deadlift days.

I haven't lifted since Monday.

In all seriousness, how old are you? If it's worrying you that much, go get a checkup but osteo-arthrtis and heart disease both sound a little hypochondriac. Sometimes google is a bad thing that way.

Aaargh, gonna be outta the gym for a long time...

This really blows. I was out playing football at a field behind the dorms on campus this past friday, and while I was out I hurt my knee all kinds of bad. I was running full speed and it buckled inside... Now I'm on crutches and can't workout indefinately, with only 3 weeks of classes left. I don't know how long I will be out, but last time this happened the doc said if it happened again I would likely need reconstructive surgury. I was making such good progress too... now I can't even make my way around the kitchen to eat well, so its only fatty takeout food for a while Sorry for the sad post... ibflamesforwhateverfuckingreason

i would cry and kill myself i think. i feel really sorry for you right now.

dude you can still eat well. i was on crutches for 6 weeks last august and still managed to hop around the kitchen on one foot so i wouldn't have to settle for bullshit food. dont use that as your excuse. and u can still go to the gym and do some upperbody stuff. it's not that bad

I'm injuried from football as well. But i hurt my finger. I have around 5 weeks left before i should be better.

that would be awesome if that happened no more squats and deadlifts

PHOBOPHILEE that would be awesome if that happened no more squats and deadlifts are you kidding me? squats and deadlifts > *

I went to a friends party last night and his girlfriend kept telling me how adorable I looked on the crutches and how she felt the need to help me, and that I can use this as a means of meeting girls. I guess its not all bad.

lol so true! buti feel bad when i cant workout hotdamn! I went to a friends party last night and his girlfriend kept telling me how adorable I looked on the crutches and how she felt the need to help me, and that I can use this as a means of meeting girls. I guess its not all bad.

Don't let an injury let your whole lifestyle go to shit. I did once, and that 30 pounds came pretty quickly. Just keep eating well, I'm sure you'll figure something out that you can do while your knee is taken care of.

i was in a similar boat..i had surgery on my knee 3.5weeks ago and it's still healing. it's still swollen and hurts..i sorta tripped down the stairs and my foot got stuck and stretched more than needed. it hurts like a motherfucker.

When i fucked up my knee i still went to the gym and did upper body stuff. I would for sure try to figure out how you can go still so you dont get out of shape.

Aaargh, gonna be outta the gym for a long time...

Green Food Supplements

Green Food Supplements

Im thinking about buying a green food supplement, event though i try to eat a lot of veggies, i find that im only getting around 3 servings a day. I was checking out bulk nutrition and they have this http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=629 ...what do you guys think? It seems fairly cheap and looks like it has a lot of good phytochemicals in it, does anyone know about these? thanks

I have some, it's pretty good if you're no up for eating veges for whatever reason. Also gives a pretty decent energy boost. Be warned it does taste like grass pretty much...

I mainly take it in the morning on days where I'm either running late or just don't feel like preparing food. Mix it in with a shake and choke it down and run out the door.

I talked to a few people and they said that the green food powder HAS to be 100% organic or else you are wasting your money, anyone know if this is true? The brand in question does not say its organic.

I'm designing a newsletter thing for an assignment. I just need articles to use for filler text. The assignment isn't about writing, its about design and layout, so I'm not jacking other people's work. Thanks for any help.

I went running today

I went running today

I'm going to start going in the mornings now, becuase it's getting too hot, even at 5pm, to go running at night at a reasonable time. Ran between 4 and 5 miles (don't know for sure, it isn't measured) in about 35 minutes. My late June 10k goal time of 40 minutes is within reach

i went for a run yesterday also. got a nice tan its best to do cardio in the morning on an empty stomache anyway.

jonno i went for a run yesterday also. got a nice tan its best to do cardio in the morning on an empty stomache anyway. Very argumentative.

I do cardio on an empty stomach (well except for the morning vitamins and HEAT stack) and then later in the evening a few hours after lifting. I just tend to walk an hour at a time though as opposed to running long distances.

I get a much better workout if I have eaten something for energy

Ran again this morning, and both mornings on an empty stomach. When I'm training, I usually wake up and, less than 20 minutes later, I'm running, so I don't worry about empty stomach. The morning before a race, though, I usually have some toast and a banana or something to give me a little extra energy while still being easy on the ol' stomach. NEVER have pancakes before a race, though. (Learned that the hard way...)

I wish I had never stopped running. I find it hard to get myself back into the grind of things, but the New England weather seems to be very demotivational when it comes to wanting to go out in the cold. I'm heading to boot in Parris Island in September though and want to have a good endurance base. Right now I'm only at about 3-4 mile runs. It's a good feeling though.

40 minutes for a 10k? That's a mean pace man, good luck Something very relaxing about running. When I need to think about things or relieve stress, nothing really does it for me like just going for a smooth 5 miler and letting my mind wander wherever it needs to.

how much do you guys weight...after i passed ~175 lbs running became so hard

christophers eating before hand = better performance = moe calories burned. it doesn't have to be a huge meal. thats what my swim coach used to say..before 5:30am practice i would eat a plain bagel and sometimes a protein shake...the days i did that i had a much better workout than the days i didn't eat anything.

willg133 how much do you guys weight...after i passed ~175 lbs running became so hard 5'9" 182 give or take a few, haven't done shit for awhile but in the past couple weeks I've done a few 2.5-3 milers no problem at all

My 10k PR from high school is 38:37 I'm just trying to get back into the groove after my freshman year of college, not eating very often and not working out. Running most definitely does it for me (relieves stress). willg133 how much do you guys weight...after i passed ~175 lbs running became so hard I'm 155 lbs at 5' 11.5". I got down as low at 145 during my freshman year, but have gained almost 10 lbs since the beginning of May. Running has brought my appetite back. Well, that and home-cooked meals

I'm 6'1" 190lbs. I've been picking up my running in prepartion for the Army. I can do about 4.2 miles in the 36min range. Its not too bad. It's a fairly hilly route. If you run enough weight is gonna play a smaller role. I'm sure there are 200+ lb guys that can run sub 6min miles. My MOS is 18x which is Special Forces Recruit. The SF guys are incredible shape. I got much room for improvement.

Well... I ended up running that race in 41:53 I had shin-splint problems and wasn't able to run much in the weeks leading up to the race. I AM, however, planning to run the race again this year, and based on recent workouts, I will be aiming for the 38 minute range

SteveO still a decent time, 10k is like 5 miles right? 10k is 6.2 miles. I ultimately want to get down to below 36 minutes so that I can join the cross country team at Georgia Tech when I go back this fall, but we'll see. Baby steps.

I'm 205 lbs and can still bust a sub 6 minute mile. It felt a little easier when I was 165 lbs through high school though. I think I'm around 9% bodyfat but I think I'd like to drop to about 185 lbs this summer. For what I like to do I think being thinner would be better even with losses in muscle mass.

When did you start buying new clothes?

When did you start buying new clothes?

My current clothes still somewhat fit, but some(my pants and some jeans) I have to keep pulling up every once in a while. So I'm like a full or 1/2 size less than what I usually wear. I'm going to measure this weekend. So for people who've lost weight when did you start buying new stuff? Like 2 to 3 sizes difference or when you just couldn't keep your pants up on their own and they started looking extremely bad even with a belt?

how long have you been dieting?

My bulking has made pretty much all of my pants un-wearable. It's pretty annoying. Wish I weren't so poor.

When i was around 180ish i was in the middle of Medium and Large. So i bought a lot of large clothes when i exploded to 210. Now I'm back to 190 and all the L clothes i bought i put away in a box. I'm currently losing fat right now as well so my jeans are getting a little big i hate buying new clothes!

nic379 how long have you been dieting? I don't really call it dieting. I've changed my way of eating (or diet) for the better and have been exercising more seriously since Feb.

Now I'm back to 190 and all the L clothes i bought i put away in a box. I'm currently losing fat right now as well so my jeans are getting a little big i hate buying new clothes! why the "explosion"? Was it gradual or all of a sudden?

as soon as you can see my nipples through my shirt

Girl_Next_Door I don't really call it dieting. I've changed my way of eating (or diet) for the better and have been exercising more seriously since Feb. I'm glad you've changed your diet and are being health concious! i have PLENTY of clothes to wear once i start losing weight. I use to be a skinny skinny girl, i still have all the clothes.

I went from a size 40 waist down to a 36, and from XL to XXL in shirts I've held off on buying shirts b/c I don't mind them tight. But the pants, I feel like I am swimmng in them. So I think I need to do some shopping this weekend

Went from a 40-42 to a 36 (would wear 34s but can't find pants that will fit my big legs comfortably). Just bought new clothes when I hit like 215 (from 255). I am at 197 now and want to get down to 180 if not lower so i anticipate buying new clothes come mid summer if not earlier as my 36's are getting a bit loose already. Ugh! I hate buying clothes cause I am short and that means I have to get all of my damn pants hemmed. On another note my shoe size went from a 13-11.5 (fat feet = buy larger shoes).

My waste hasn't changed that much, I used to wear a 38 and now usually wear a 36 (I like alot of room in the waste). I can still wear the same shirts, they are just aloooooottt tighter.

Well, my shoe size will not change. I don't have fat feet they're actually pretty narrow/slim

Yeah i used to buy larger shoes cause my feet were fat/wide but now a days I fit into 11.5's fine. Its weird when EVERYTHING is a different size now. Great for keeping motivated though.

about 3 months after i changed my diet and started working out. went from a size 46 in pants to 38/40, and from xxl to xl in shirts. kinda sucks when you have to keep buying new clothes but i dont mind it if they are smaller, and not have to shop at the big and tall store.

i buy new clothes all the time

Ceaze i buy new clothes all the time do you fluctuate in weight/inches a lot?

When i lost my 100 lbs, i contantly bought new clothes, and gave me other ones to charity

I just bought two new pair of jeans, new undershirts, new boxers, and new gym shorts. I outgrew my old clothes. All I buy now shirt-wise is XL...it's so nice to have clothes that fit again.

Girl_Next_Door do you fluctuate in weight/inches a lot? no i just like new clothes

Ceaze no i just like new clothes I always pictured as you walking around everywhere topless. Class, gym, restaurants, family gatherings, etc.

Werdna I always pictured as you walking around everywhere topless. Class, gym, restaurants, family gatherings, etc.

Werdna I always pictured as you walking around everywhere topless. Class, gym, restaurants, family gatherings, etc. only at the pool brotha...i don't even wear tank tops anymore

I buy a couple shirts every once in a while. My pants are horrible though. They are soooo fucking huge on me, but I still wear them. I'd get new ones in Japan, but they have retarded sizes. 28-33 or 30-34. Shit like that. Skinny fuck Japanese guys. :-x

im filling my clothes a lot better now, but i still need some more clothes.

I just gave away 2/3 of my clothing to charity, and some sold on ebay. I was gonna buy more clothes, but I'm gonna wait until I finish cutting. It feels good to give them away because they don't fit anymore.

When did you start buying new clothes?

whats a good mp3 player for training

whats a good mp3 player for training

ive been looking around a good mp3 player for running and lifting so whats a good one that is reliable hows the phillips nike one also about how many songs could i fit onto a 256mb one and or a 128 mb one

I like the RCA ones myself. Best overall size / cost / durability. http://search.ebay.com/RCA-RD1000 around $20 add a 128mb card for a total of 160mb and you are set http://search.ebay.com/128mb%20mmc around $30 TOTAL PRICE around $50

I got the RCA RD1071A from the mart of walls and I couldn't be happier. I think it holds like 128mb? It was only 80 bucks.

i have an ipod and i love it for weight training...you can get an armband and everything...the ipod mini is even better but i wanted more songs

i use an iRiver flash mp3 player that has 256mb and holds roughly 50+ songs. it uses 1 AA battery that lasts around 20 hours and comes with an armband. the player is very light and weighs less than the battery itself. it costed me a $150 about a month ago. for weight training and running, you want to get a flash mp3 player. flash players are more expensive and holds less songs but they have no moving parts. if you were to use an ipod or any hard drive based mp3 player, you can easily damage your investment as there are many moving parts and mechanisms that get jostled around during cardio and weight training.

i have the nike one...works great for me

anything small with a clip or holder works fine just run the cord under your shirt and strap it to your pants/shorts

sexual tennis i use an iRiver flash mp3 player that has 256mb and holds roughly 50+ songs. it uses 1 AA battery that lasts around 20 hours and comes with an armband. the player is very light and weighs less than the battery itself. it costed me a $150 about a month ago. for weight training and running, you want to get a flash mp3 player. flash players are more expensive and holds less songs but they have no moving parts. if you were to use an ipod or any hard drive based mp3 player, you can easily damage your investment as there are many moving parts and mechanisms that get jostled around during cardio and weight training. i just picked up an iriver flash player after my samsung yep broke it's been great so far. and yeah i second the not getting a hard drive based player if you are going to do a lot of running or something where it will get pounded. but if you are going to stick with an eliptical, stairclimber or bicycle, it should be fine.

got the RCA RD1080. works great for me

PANASONIC SV-SD80 is what I use.. best mp3 player EVER!! THE new version is SV-SD85 I think. SUPER tiny.. nice nice tiny case that I just clip onto my shorts. good sound Edit: The rechargble battery lasts like 18 hours or so. If you use rechargable plus AA battery it will last ~50 hours I think It's about 1.2" x 1.2" x .5"

www.iriver.com . They are very compact, and mine has been durable....

samsung yepp yp-30sh

I have the rio cali 128. Also has a fm tuner in it. At the place where I lift all the TVs are hooked up on fm reception so I if I am on a Sunday I can listen to the Nascar race or listen to football games in the fall time without having to run and check all the time. The only problem I have is the earplugs are horrible. I had another nice pair that I have been using.

I have the Nike Phillips 128mb one, got it two years ago for christmas. Once you ditch the gay armband and replace the headphones, it's great. The unit itself is awesome, small and very durable. Battery life is great. FWIW, I *LOVE* these headphones: http://www.spysupply007.com/Headphon...nes/HS_303.jpg They're less than $10, and they're the only thing that I've used that'll stay in no matter what I'm doing.

I have the new rca mp4.. 20gb.. i love it.. holds videos photos.. music and programs... Would recomend... but the price outragous... 400$

i use the nike one, its a black circle and comes with a arm band that barely fits my arm anymore

i got a mpio when my nike kept dying, i'm happy with the sound..& it's real tiny.

IPod shuffle

willg133 i have an ipod and i love it for weight training...you can get an armband and everything...the ipod mini is even better but i wanted more songs where did you get your armband?

knucks where did you get your armband? I picked mine up at best buy, when I bought my mini its nice, it doesnt move much when you are running as it is locked in place pretty well.

Creative Muvo N200 1gb or Sandisk 1gb

I use a phillips one that I picked up at Wal-Mart for $80. Reads mem cards and uses AAA batteries. Perfect for the gym.

Sandisk = win.

id probably go ipod shuffle now if i had to get a new one. Regular Ipod's are ok if you are just doing strickly weights you can just put a playlist on it but its not good for running or anything. It will eventually fuck up the disk and after the 25 minute buffer it starts skipping and bad

kinda strange question, but are any mp3 players water proof, or is there a way to put them in a water proof container? i want one to go work out and go sailing also

whats a good mp3 player for training
